“Hey, Mom?”

“Yes, August?”

“I can't breathe.”

The boy squirmed out of his mother's grasp. He had gone home over the summer, of course. It was nice to be home for a while, just being able to relax. He spent most of his summer in the pool. (He actually just ended up putting board shorts on in the morning, so that he didn't have to worry about changing.) Autumn crept up quickly, and before he knew it, he was stuck on a four hour car ride with his mopey mother. Of course, his parent's had insisted that they rent a nice, fancy car to bring him back to the Academy. It wasn't really a limousine, but it might as well be. He hated when his parents did that. He honestly preferred the Jeep, but no.

His mother sighed and smoothed August's hair. “You are a mess. Why didn't you let me get your hair cut?”

“I'll get it done before school starts.” He assured her, brushing her hand off. She had been fussing over him the whole way, just like she always does. His father would just occasionally glance at him and smile sadly, as if sympathizing with his son's predicament, but had said virtually nothing.

They pulled up outside the dorms, and August quickly climbed out of the car. He loved his mother dearly, but he couldn't wait to get away from her. He insisted on getting his own stuff out of the trunk while his mom looked on with distaste. “Is that all you brought?”

“What do you mean, 'all I brought', Mom? You practically had me pack my entire closet.”

“Don't be ridiculous. You couldn't possibly fit your entire closet into a single backpack and suitcase. What if you run out of underwear? You always leave it at the pool...”

“Mom!” August almost wailed. “I'm a big boy, I can handle it. Can I please go now? I want to unpack and find some food.”

His mother sighed once more. “Yes, yes.” She hugged him tightly, her eyes a little wet. Man, she was so embarrassing! His dad simply patted him on the back and told him not to set the school on fire. He watched them get back into the rental and waved as the driver pulled away and out of sight.

'Finally!' August thought, relieved. Although he knew they were the whole reason he was even able to attend Caelbury, he wanted nothing more then for them to step back a little and let him take care of himself.

He followed the instructions he was given to his dorm. He stood in front of the door for a moment, a little hint of butterflies in his stomach. What was up with that? He never got nervous. He stuck the letter from Acacia – man, he really missed her! - back in his pocket. He knocked on the door before using his key, sticking his head in. “Hello? Anyone home?” He called. He didn't want to barge in and piss his roommate off the first day, so he'd try and contain himself.

Adira was an Elite in her school years. She was top of her class, and in a school like Caelbury Academy, that's quite a feat. She prides herself on her academic achievements, but there is certainly more to her then brains.

Why is your character teaching here?
The students seem to think that Adira is only around to make their lives miserable. Although this is a benefit, that is not her reasoning. She came from a tough home situation, and Caelbury really turned her life around for the better. The teachers and staff pushed her, forced her to do better then she knew she could. She was inspired by them. And now, she wants to be the one who pushes her students for excellence. Maybe they won't look back and think "Oh wow, she was such a great role model". Most likely, they'll just be glad she didn't hang them from the ceiling by their toenails.

Personality:
Adira is many things. Confident, outgoing, stubborn, opinionated, and outspoken. She doesn't care who likes or dislikes her. She has a sharp tongue and is never afraid to speak her mind, even if what she has to say isn't very nice. She says it like it is and never sugar coats anything.

“Life sucks, people suck, I suck. Suck it up and move on, thank you.”

She takes no nonsense. She can be pretty scary when she's angry, and it isn't hard to set her off. She can not only dish out some cold punishment to her students, but a large majority of them are actually afraid she might murder them in their sleep or something. So basically, don't mess with her.

Adira is not a very patient person. She doesn't like people who whine or complain. She actually finds some enjoyment from anyone she catches falling asleep in class. Not just her class, no - if she walks past a door and sees a student sleeping, she will barge into the class just to wake them up. She does have a soft spot for the younger boys, however. She hides it well, but sometimes she has the random urge to hug them and feed them marshmallows.

History:

Adira was raised by 'tough love'. She was the only daughter in her family. With five older brothers, she learned how to stand up for herself as soon as she could speak.
Her family didn't have much money. Her mother was a maid and was very often away from the kids, and her father had multiple women to 'take care of'.

Her personality started to show in grade school. She was kicked out of both kindergarten and first grade the first week, and was not 'officially' in school until second grade. Amazingly, even with no prior schooling, Adira was able to perform the same level of work as her peers. A mere three years later - fifth grade - she was capable of highschool work.

When she was in eighth grade, her parents officially went their separate ways. The children and their mother moved quite a distance. After the split, they were even more financially unstable. At some point, Adira dropped out of school to stay home and help her mother, who had fallen ill under all the stress. Later that year, at age 48, her mother passed away in her sleep. Cause of death was never determined, but the children believed she had cancer.

Unknown to her, a fundraiser was held in her name. Her older brothers came together and raised a large sum of money to send their little sister to the best school they could find; Caelbury Academy. Adira was a little mad when she found out. She didn't like people acting like she needed their pity, or their money. But when she saw what Caelbury had to offer her, she couldn't refuse. There's still a few more things we need to do, like assign dorms and stuff, while I'll be doing tomorrow, maybe.And characters. We could start right now, but there's a severe lack of balance within the classes. And teachers x_xI'm probably going to make more teachers.Mostly because Amanda Abbington is perfect as an English teacher here.

I can do the dorms tomorrow night, if you want. If you don't get to it before me. And I'd do another character, but I've never done well with more then two. Maybe after I get started with Austin and Adira I can make another. But I want to develope them a little first.
