The Nidae
A Nidaean Berserk SoldierThe Nidae (pl. Nideas; lit. Life, Alive, Living) are a sentient species found in the inner sphere of the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy. Humans call their outward appearance Hyena-like, due to their morphology and similar hue of their fur. Though similar in appearance to the hyenas found in earth they don’t share genetic similarities, and have distinct differences.
Their morphology prefers quadrupedalism yet they have proven their capability of standing up right and walking with just their hind legs though less efficient and balanced than humans. The average body structure of a nidae is quiet dense, having thicker bones and greater muscle mass, and most of their strength comes from their mass-to-height ratio (on all fours, they’re barely above the hips of an average human). The paws of their forelegs are biologically advance and are able to perform the same tasks as a human hand. Each paw have four digits, three fingers and an opposable thumb, and armed with claws.
Compared to humans, they have greater stamina and strength but they require greater amounts of energy to stay active due to this, they have an average life expectancy of sixty-years. They are physically capable of running 50km/h for a short duration but such actions leaves even a well-trained Nidae exhausted. Their hearing is quiet precise but highly sensitive as well is their sense of smell. They are able to see well even under low light conditions. Their sense of touch is quiet weak, allowing them not to feel the coarse soil of their planet whilst walking or running. They’re capable of speech and have their own language. The Nidae possess great intelligence, proven by the fact they were capable of interplanetary travel long before human contact.
