I noticed all my major settlements are above my capital. I mentioned local volunteers as defenese in all settlements, but Soaria would focus their professional soldiers on major settlements, so if somebody attacks my capital from the South with a buttload of guys I wouldn't have a lot of soldiers to defend in terms of realistic warfare.
