@Everyone: First wave of missions completed! Here's how things will go from here.
Schedule
Saturday 30-Monday 1: New mission roster will come up following an event.
Saturday 6-Sunday 7: New mission roster's IC posts will come up. It may or may not include battle maps right then, but battle maps will be present during battle sequences.
Upgrades

Regular: In case you want to continue to pursue and upgrade your current class, and not a new one.

Multi-classing: Add the class' base (beginning) stats. For PIlots this means the starting mech, for Grunts this means two weapon mods and two pieces of advanced training, for Listeners this means two mutations from the same archetype.

Then add one of these, depending on which hybrid you are.

Note: If multi-classing seems a little weak, it's supposed to be if you decide to do that early on instead of hunkering down and focusing on a single class. Keep in mind also that you get all the base benefits of that class too, so your upgrades are minimal to account for your power growth spurt.
Achievements

Achievements will be added later, likely tomorrow, as I have to go to work and I'd rather not rush out character-defining aspects. Though quickly for Kiku, your character will be getting a mechanical arm.
Vehicles/Universal "Scrap"/Etc

If you want something, let me know and we'll work it out. Think more stuff to customize your character, less to make them superior in combat. Stuff like a motorcycle or a jeep or etc. Assets will be coming soon as well, I need more time with them like I need with achievements.
As always if you have any questions, just ask. Until then, I just wanted you all to know that your loyalty and patience is immensely appreciated. No, really, I mean that, like I asked who was still here and within 24 hours I had 13/15 players immediately respond to me, either here in the OOC or over IM's. Just. Wow. Thanks, everyone. This one's for you.

"We aren't doing anything to it without a bigger boom. Thinking caps, everyone!... If that doesn't work, someone needs to lead it off so our friends can swoop out. After it's clear, the bait just has to Houdini out of its sight. Sounds like fun, right?" -Georgia, Page 2.
Central Apartments

As Kai and Matthew evacuate to the roof, Jenive grabs Junko and holds her tightly. With a quick nod, she moves out onto the balcony and blasts out onto the roof with her in tow. Reaching the roof, Jenive sees the chinook she heard earlier landing on the roof. Without a second thought or question she ushers everyone aboard, knowing that it wouldn't take too long for the heavy U-ARM trooper to realize they were escaping and not reinforcing the area. "Everyone! ON THE CHOPPER! NOW!" Hopping aboard herself, she quickly ushers everyone on and then motions for the pilot to leave. The U-ARM heavy trooper finally makes it to the top floor, dragging his damaged components with him before seeing the chinook and taking cover. There was no further attempts to stop them as they left the battlefield, though beneath them the carnage was very clear: Bunker Chicago had taken heavy casualties.

South West

As everyone clears the battle zone to evac, they would hear a loud screech behind them. The alpha wolf glared at them, its large form resembling that more like a large bear, with spines clearly rolling down its back, and fangs made out of a metallic compound that, when grinded together, produced the noise that caught their attention. A moment of panic settled amongst the guards as they pointed and fired at the alpha, yet, as it braced, the fifty calibre rounds merely bounced off like toys. A few seconds of continual fire did nothing, so it ceased. The wolf glares at Brucey's mech and howls angrily before bounding back off into the fog. The assault stops, leaving the group to escape with ease, and just enough time to avoid the fireworks show to follow.

First went Morai as he complied with James' request. James followed immediately, as did Peter and Georgia. There was no further assaults coming as the only path of the relatively dimwitted enemies trying to kill them was the blown out staircase. Still, as they boarded the chinook, Georgia wouldn't be able to help but feel an unending chill, as well as a sea of whispers calling out for her to die. While Carolyn addresses and tends to everyone's wounds in the chinook as it takes off, Morai sits beside Georgia and keeps her calm while they escape unimpeded. Taking formation beside the Apartment's chinook, they too saw the carnage beneath them.

South East: Sewers

Adam quickly agrees to what Eira has to say, seeing as how he had no other choice to get inside, though it wasn't entirely what he wanted. Standing up slowly and making sure not to make any sudden moves, he follows them into the sewer outpost. Indeed, it had been dug out in the ground, though it was fairly small. There was an elevator large enough to contain a jeep that allowed them to reach the surface, though at this point, Eira and Roman went alone: Adam was forced to stay behind, to be put in a more defensible convoy. In truth, his admitting to his own nature even to the superiors in the camp, whilst it did spare his life, was merely a poor coverup for his arrest. Still, he was alive, that was what mattered, and he had a chance to get his message to the "leaders" that he searched for now.

In the aftermath of the emergency rescue mission, both targets Carolyn and Annie were evacuated. Carolyn quickly returned to service on her return trip, and Annie returned to his research laboratory. There was no sign of the woman that gave Nathaniel the mental messages. While there were casualties, they were minimal and this was noted and applauded. When they returned to Bunker Chicago, the wounded were immediately taken into the interior bunker to be assessed and healed, as well as analyzed for any potential contamination. None was found. Despite any attempts to ascertain what happened to Adam, Roman & Eira would discover that there was no acknowledgement that Adam had ever even existed. They were also told to keep quiet, though assured that Adam was being kept in good health, and that the silence was for his benefit.

Having had special interest taken in them, both Colonel Marie Black and Council Member Ryan Dufont agreed to assign them better quarters: They each now had their own apartment room, and all lived in the same apartment. They were also given access to some of the more secretive projects that Ryan had been authorizing and supervising over the years in the interior facilities. Having two weeks to rest and rearm, they had time to wander the settlement, talk to each other, or inquire about things going on with their higher ups.

Finally, while they were all now considered special operatives that operated within the military but independently of its normal structure, Brucey, James, Jenive, and Roman were all given promotions. They are now mid-tier front line soldiers: Able to order regular members of the military save those in command level positions. While technically also above their squad mates (PC's), due to the uncharacteristic nature of the squad's structure, this command right did not extend to them.

"Overall, a resounding success, don't you think?"
"Perhaps."
Ha. You people.

Post notes are set up. I just have to grind it out Tuesday (today). Good news everyone: missions are basically done. Meaning character upgrades are right around the corner, along with new missions.

Missions decided

Confirmed missions.
#1: Kingdom of Liveria (Full).

#2: The Amazons (Full).

#3: Kingdom of Rheinfeld (One open spot).

Which leaves two spots for three missions: The Free Holds, Kingdom of Renalta, and The Imperium. In order to ensure no GM bias, I'm just going to roll some dice here. Renalta, the Imperium, and the Free Holds are going to draw straws essentially. Whoever has the shortest straw, loses out on a spot. Ergo, whoever's number comes up, loses their spot.

1: Renalta.
2: Imperium.
3: Free Holds.
4: Reroll.

*Insert shaking sounds here*

After rolling 4 three times, I finally got a conclusive result.

1.

Well. I guess Kouri's Renalta is taking one for the team.

Final Mission Result
#1: Kingdom of Liveria.

#2: The Amazons.

#3: Kingdom of Rheinfeld.

#4: The Imperium.

#5: The Free Holds.

I will be posting up the new missions next weekend, since it'll be a long weekend for me. That should also give those in the Renalta mission time to reorganize into the other missions.

Good luck, everyone.
The "proper" vampire hasn't been... Ever. Vlad the Impaler was when vampires really became a thing and the only notable traits for "Vladpyre" was that he drank blood and mysteriously vanished from his coffin. An attribute that was surprising about olden day mythos vampires as they really started to develop from Vlad's legendarily vicious streak is that the vampire could supposedly only get into your house if you opened the door and invited them in. Yes, you could defeat the malevolent monsters by simply closing a door in their face.

Obviously nobody thinks of that when they think of "classic" vampires. They think of Bram Stoker's Dracula. They think of Interview with the Vampire. Hell they might even think of the Blade trilogy.

The real truth to vampires is that anything goes at this point, honestly. The only "universal" traits people seem to give much of a damn for is that they don't like sunlight, have sharp fangs to bite you with, and have an apparently unlimited storage capacity for blood instead of drinking until their eyeballs pop out of their sockets from the blood pressure. Just do what you want with the vampire. Make it anything you want. My only personal request is don't make the fuckers sparkle because... Really?

EDIT

Although I must add, I honestly think the best modern interpretation of "legitimate" vampires is Vampire: The Masquerade. The clans and their politics and so on in the modern world is fantastic. I love all the powers and how it comes together to form a very strong mythos for them.
Kestrel said Don't make your character 100% victim. Have their own actions and choices cause them tragedy. Insta-different from 99% of the tragic bio's.

This, really. Nobody's life is complete tragedy. The key to having a tragic backstory is to balance out tragedy with other elements.

There's a general rule of storytelling that goes hand in hand with pacing, where you can emotionally over-saturate someone if you overdo an emotion. Ergo why in horror films, you have the "fake" jump scare, you have comedy or romance or sexual elements to relax the tension in the audience. Because after a certain point you will simply isolate and outlive the emotional overkill. Think about it. After a certain point no matter how happy you feel, you will eventually down-tone back to contentment. No matter how miserable you feel, you will eventually recover, absolutely regardless of outside influence which may speed or slow the process but not stop it. (The exception being of course to mental illness, but it should be noted that even the vast majority of people diagnosed as being clinically depressed or suffering from PTSD have periods of emotional stability and normality.)

So, really, just make sure your character is well rounded emotionally. A character who can't find a reason to get out of bed in the morning and is constantly wailing about how horrible their lives are, isn't going to function in the vast majority of stories on Roleplayer Guild that are generally about defeating something or overcoming a significant physical obstacle. A character who lost their family in a house fire due to a battle or raid, and now dons a shield and sword to prevent anyone else from meeting that same fate, on the other hand, is an admirable if scarred person who has all the motivation in the world to see your typical conflict-based plot resolved.

Ain't that the truth AWWW FUCK IT'S WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT

You, me, and Hellis agreeing on something. Now all we need is some arbitrary fourth horseman and this apocalypse is all set to go.
I wouldn't have even cared about this woman if she just left The Young Capitalist's contest alone. Couldn't do that.

*Sighs*

The reason this is blowing up is because people have finally hit boiling point about the corruption in the Games "Journalism" industry. They've finally gotten tired of people being fired for giving honest reviews. They've finally gotten tired of people being called misogynists, even when there's no evidence for it.

It's plainly obvious that they're outright no better than TMZ when articles like this are given the greenlight, but nobody wants to talk about how Zoe Quinn stated that cheating = rape, then proceeded to cheat multiple times. No. Lets not talk about that. Lets not talk about an actual case of potential sexual predation. Lets talk about how everyone else must be a rapist because they have a dick and Zoe does not, hurr hurr hurr.

Games Journalism is a ship full of rats. Watch them cannibalize each other when given the chance, I guarantee you, it will be quite a sight.

EDIT

Oh, and here, have a free Stanley Kubrick machine gif for that last article. You're gonna need it to get through the insane stupidity for what is once again a massively overblown, massively retarded situation that should have just stayed in the bedroom of a dumb cheating woman girl and her dumb ex-boyfriend.

Prince said At work, I don't generally like to consider myself the guy with a fancy golden name tag and a spiffy button-down shirt whose sole purpose in the building is to make every else work harder and faster to accomplish the same goal they would normally all for the purpose of making them look busy on one of our thirty-six cameras. I don't like to enforce the "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean" policy. I can try and be gentle about it. I can try and be polite. I can explain or assist in every possible way I can to make the work experience better while also doing my job. And, you're right. Normally, being positive and gentle in those situation reaps better results. That doesn't change the fact I'm still management. Likewise, that doesn't change the fact that, by definition, that scenario still has elitist aspects in it. It's not a bad thing. You did what most good GM's would have done or said.

Exactly. You get it. Sounds like you're a pleasant manager, by the way.

You're not a bad person for seeing yourself as an elitist either by the way. I just try to avoid that term, it has a lot of negative baggage with it, and the point I was making was one you understood with your pleasant sounding management tactics, so...

I have no idea what I'm saying now.

I wish there were more ferrets and other animals of the like that were truly useless but adorable. They're great for subtle character exposition. For instance: How X treats their pet says a lot about who they are as a person, regardless of whether they're introverted or extroverted.
Prince said
You realize that right there embodies the entire concept of positive Elitism, right? That attitude. That is how a socially-positive Elitist would think in and address that situation.

I don't generally like to consider myself above that of my fellows, though. I find it's more effective to put myself at the same level and in the same shoes as the person struggling. Rather than speaking from authority, I go from the equal angle. Whether or not it is true is irrelevant to me so much as it is simply more effective for this site, as there's a lot of easily bruised egos. Mainly due to the nature of people growing very attached to the things they create very quickly, and by the average age range of the person on this site being... Eh'... Probably around high school age.

I find it's simply more effective to dispose of the elitist tagline and just approach from a softer side.
