I'm interested. Never took part in the first LoR, but I presume that's not going to be a major issue since you're apparently looking for interest from all sorts rather than just veterans.

Correct. While old characters may have their cameos and play important roles, they're no longer the main protagonists of the story. Kouri for example has to run a kingdom now--she can't go gallivanting off to solve problems by herself now. She has to order others to do it instead.

This role play is going to have one unique thing though, story-wise. The characters you interact with will have actual history behind them, each one with their own personality. They're as close to being living people with their own lives as can possible be really.

I would second this

The emperor salutes you back, gladiator.

... I like you. Brovo, I like this one. I say we keep 'em.

... If he dies we can stuff his corpse. That's the same as keeping him, right?

Looks really amazing. Wouldn't mind staking a claim. :)

I wouldn't worry about limited slots with this behemoth.

Mm. I'll express interest for this - I think I have a character idea. We'll see if it turns into something more than a seed.

I hope it does!

I have a question. Will this point system allow for freedom in choosing our character's abilities? Say we are mages, do we get to choose what magic to specialize in?

Yes. You have the following...

Physical Stats, which determine your character's physical capacity for doing things. Note that min-maxing has unintended and unforeseen consequences, like if you all-in on strength but ignore agility and charisma, your character will be an unlikable brick who trips over himself and can't hit anything to save his life despite the fact that if he did hit something it would probably be clinically dead. You can min-max yourself into uselessness, as each stat ties into one another in some manner.

Training Stats, which determine your character's know-how for doing things, such as fighting, sniping, magic, sneaking, talking, etc. You can mix these and physical stats to get unique or unorthodox combinations, like a high agility fighter would make for an impressive duelist, or a high magic sneak-mage could amplify their stealth capabilities in places where it normally wouldn't be possible, etc.

Experience Traits, which are your character's abilities derived from their physical capacity to do things and their know-how to doing things. These have prerequisites which tie into your stat choices, and a good deal of them relate simply to helping you better define gameplay choices, like becoming a crusader who is resistant to magic but cannot use magic, or someone who uses their inner magical talent and charisma to disguise wounds from sight.

Conditions, which are unique biographical background choices and give your character that unique edge over the average NPC to start with. These range from living weapons to non-magical telepathy, to being the "chosen one", to being related to the royalty of a country, etc.

I so wish that life didn't pull me from the guild and this rp two years ago. But I'm willing to give a crack at it once more now my life has calmed down and I have time once again.... *bows* If you will allow me to return. Would you have the rangers return to your kingdom or not totally up to you

... *Jaw drops*... Aerandir, of course the King's Rangers are still part of Renalta, and of course you are still welcome back. You will always be welcome in Renalta, especially for putting up with a much more inexperienced, juvenile version of myself years ago.

I would like to speak to you/the admin(s) beforehand, however. My idea will need some smoothing out.

Skype: brovo196
Steam: brovo196 <- You can contact me while I'm at work with this. I'll be sleeping shortly, though, ah the cons of night shift. (This goes for everyone--add me as you wish, ask questions, anything you like!)

Also, for future notice, Tempest is one of three of my co-GM's. I have two more, one dedicated to playing the nine hells, with Tempest and the other helping me keep things organized and giving me another perspective on things should I need it.
Because you obviously didn't pray to the Fonz hard enough this morning or something.

I know. Glad to have you along. :)
"Ten years ago... Ten, long years ago, the princess of legend banished the tyrannical Gods, forever fulfilling a one thousand year old destiny. I was with her that day, for the somber celebrations... In a way, we all knew that such a victory in the name of freedom would come at a high price.

To the north, the once-upon-a-time slave state superpower now has to contend with a significant goblin revolt, led by one of Kouri's compatriots. At the same time it is also fighting the revival of an ancient Imperium, trying to spread to retake its homeland... Between the two, we cannot depend on the Free Holds to stop the inevitable invasion.

Across the sea of blood, in our own lands, once proud and united under the banner of Father and the Mother, our two gods, must now face a civil war. The Papacy, refusing to step down after their right to authority became void, holds the capital. We of the Templar Order are doing our best to restore a proper rulership over the people, and yet, some of those people and even some of the younger members of our order have defected to a third faction, eager to form some kind of... Republic. Either way, the once stalwart armies of millions of united crusaders, are shattered in war.

Even to the south, the revived kingdom of Renalta, bringing in hundreds of thousands of refugees and immigrants all praising the Queens who brought them liberty and freedom have but a limited military and no real authority over the rest of the nations of the world, though their attempts to unite us all are admirable, they are ultimately futile.

... Yet, even in that futility, there is a certain hope, as word spreads of cults springing out of hiding, sacrificing people to summon demons and create gateways to the nine hells... Even I have seen some of my own lieutenants, once stalwart and honest, succumbing to some... Strange form of corruption that makes them, vapid, obedient to a force that strips them of their humanity.

...By the Gods Kouri, if you have a plan, no matter how foolish... I really hope you enact it soon. Or there won't be a world left for Rheinfeld to live in by the time this war is over.

May the Gods, banished as they are, watch over us all."

--Templar Order leader Taigyn, issuing an emergency statement by courier to the royalty of Renalta.

Welcome one, welcome all, to Legend of Renalta's sequel interest check! This story starts ten years after the original, on the verge of an invasion from the nine hells the world has broken out into civil wars, revolutions, and worse. Seeing the threat posed to not just her own kingdom but the entirety of the mortal realm, Queen Kouri of Renalta gathers as many heroes, villains, and mercenaries together as she can, from peasants to soldiers to mages to gunslingers to alchemists and more.

In this role play you will start out just above the average in terms of power, and quickly grow from there. Gaining favours with the nobility, recruiting allies, forming alliances, empowering yourself or gaining command over soldiers, mercenaries, specialists and more... To be a professional assassin, a duelist with a sharp tongue, a magnificent magician, or a brave warrior... All of these, and more, are possible paths to take for you and your characters.

If saving a world rich with history, colourful characters, a large boiling pot of cultures, supernatural beings, vampires, werewolves, magic, and more, all the while gathering armies, artifacts, powerful spells, forging alliances, and of course fighting against the literal incarnation of hell itself are your cup of tea, then please, do come and stay for a while. Your every choice will have consequences. The fate of the world literally rests in your hands. Will you come and save it?

Ask as many questions as you like and I'll try to answer them, or just state your general interest to let me know that you'll be joining in the adventure.

This role play even has a world map for you to peruse to get a sense of the scale.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed every word of it!

EDIT

Updated: More information on the world and its nations here!

Yeah, I could do that.

Ah, well if it happens, you have my great thanks! Having an organized, easy to reference tab full of character sheets will do wonders.

This may or may not be related, but did you click something that redirecting you from the roleplayerguild.com address to the 198.58.124.212:3000 address? The only instances I've had of spontaneously being logged out was if a redirect to the different address happened. I'm not the most fluent person in computer Kung-Fu, so that might just be a thing I should expect. Is there any way to rectify that? (other than rendering the 198.58.124.212:3000 address non-existent)

Also, was she always on the same network and/or device? :p

I thought I responded to this on oldtower but maybe I didn't click the right submit button.I like this feature. It's an open-ended tool. Ideally, roleplays would be self-contained ecosystems like little pools of subforum recursion.I haven't much pondered what that could actually look like, but arbitrary tabs are a good start.

For arbitrary tabs, could you add a CS tab as well? It would be invaluable useful for everyone.
