So let me get this straight. D.H. Uses shadow magic and is charging some kind of shadows-related attack, while Maher fires his stunning attack again. Immediately afterwards, Alexander Lyre does this.

Alexander Lyre said His right hand moved through a series mystical gestures, imbuing the bullet with a simple enchantment. Whatever it hit would be enveloped mystical shadows

All the while, Erasmus is ready to move in and distract the Gargoyle, keeping it away from the real threats.

...

Albeit, the only reason Alexander Lyre is alive right now is because Maher's friend arrived. Keep that in mind.

EDIT

Also, for clarity: At this point nobody is near the gargoyle. If it wants to dive-attack anyone, it won't be able to get back up in the same post. Erasmus is closest to it, Alexander was knocked partway down the hill side (several feet) but saved by the reinforcements, then there's Thailen and Maher at the tree, Wren is on her way to it, and D.H. is invisible on the hill somewhere. Or at least wreathed in shadows.
"Its huge." -Ein Nimgrud, Page 1.

First Blow

The Gargoyle's attention had become trained on Alexander Lyre and Wren Vesper while Maher had been dragged away. It grinned viciously as it made for a diving attack at Wren, who was readied for it, and managed to roll out of the way before the attack could land. "You'll never escape!" It taunted her, having no effect it seemed to be irritated before seeing Maher's attack race for it once again. The attack hits and prevents the Gargoyle from taking flight again to avoid any further attacks for a few moments, and as before, it flinches, stunned in place. Alexander's bullet, thus, easily finds its mark and hits the Gargoyle in the side of the head instead of the eyes, still, the shadowy mark was left behind, as was the pierced stone of the jaw line to reveal not flesh and blood, but a small series of gears which moved as the Gargoyle's mouth moved to mimic speech. "Puny fleshsack, you do not understand... That you cannot kill that which does not live."

In a sudden burst of speed it leaps for Alexander Lyre, hitting him with sufficient force to send him flailing off the hill side. His death was inevitable, until, a few moments later, he ceases moving in mid-air, being caught in a small, golden bubble, and gently lowered to the ground. Some distance in the fog behind Alexander he could see a figure approaching, feminine in appearance, with golden blonde hair and blue eyes that pierced through the fog. It was the help Maher referred to; it was almost there. The Gargoyle's stone lips quiver into a sneer. "Such heavenly things do not belong in a world of rended flesh and ticking clocks." It mocks, as it moves itself into the air once more. Now, the sound of clockwork and gears became quite audible. Wren snaps her fingers and shouts to the rest of the party. "When it attacks, it needs a few moments of time before it can muster the strength to ascend its humongous form again! When it dives again, those with swords should move in to try and harass it and keep it pinned down!" Her experience it seems was going to come in handy after all. With that said, she immediately beelines for Maher, knowing he could take it out of the air if he hit another one of those attacks.

As for the undead gecko, it clinged to Alexander's shoulder and hissed at the surrounding holy magic barrier that saved his life. It either did not like magic, or did not like holy things. Its empty eye sockets once again stared at him, as though chiding him for not moving when the Gargoyle had landed closer to him before shooting at it, or something. Still, perhaps a well timed attack could keep the Gargoyle down...

Robert, you made venidres not even half as scary as i portrayed D:

She's a woman... A woman... Like, real woman.

Just don't anger her...
@Everyone: Mission time. I'll answer any questions y'all might have, but it operates on the same basic principle the original system did: Pick a mission, execute it.
Operation 1: Bring Them Back!
Mission Briefing: "Ah, welcome, I see you received the colourful colonel's mission debrief on what was known as project Forest Fire. The objective was simple and clear: To test Bunker security firepower on the enemy. It seems we have either failed miserable or it might just be a communication mishap... But then... That never happens around here. I want to make this very clear to you. In the event that something went wrong, they were to turn back and retreat immediately. Two in particular need to be recovered, and were to be defended at all costs: Anistroika, and Carolyn.

Anistroika is a specialist in biology we sent out to investigate the situation. We know the enemy uses mutants. We don't know how, or what kind, or anything else along those lines, so we need him back alive if you can manage it. Remember, we don't understand the threat, so he may be injured or sick with something contagious. Use your gas masks to keep out contagions, outside of the fog, they can keep replenishing themselves for pretty much eternity. It's inside the fog that they have a limited operating window of an hour, but by then, you should be suffering skin rashes and mild acidic burns anyway, or some such nonsense the research division tries to explain it with.

Oh, and don't worry about pronouncing that name right, most people just call him Annie.

Carolyn is the daughter of a prominent military figurehead, and a techie... Of sorts. She was sent in with modified HE missiles that were codenamed... Gassy... Sparkly... Plugs?... Regardless, some of the Council already made some bio-weapons for these little shits, and she was testing them out like the loyalist she is. We need her back alive, and her mech too, if you can manage it. The mech will have very valuable sensor data on these things and what effect precisely the missiles had. In fact, so much so, that our little council member fuckwit running the show thinks that if it becomes a choice, leave Carolyn, and take the mech... But I think we both know which order the Colonel would prefer, and she's your boss, so don't leave Carolyn, and fuck the mech if it means risking your neck.

We're approaching the mission zone now. Intel has no idea which way they'll be running from, so they need you stationed in two positions about a block apart from each other to guarantee catching them. There's the south east block and the south west block they're calling em'. Either way, you'll be in old downtown, expect overgrowth, shattered glass... South west block has bits and chunks of a skyscraper that fell over some odd few years ago that will provide a lot of cover, good for you close range people that need to get in close and personal and the like. South east is clean and clear, oddly so, no plants, no growth o' nothin'. It's eerily dead, but the small apartments and shops provide a lot of places to hide and clear vantage points on the enemy, good for you sneaky folks and ambush fighters. Mechs'll be effective either way.

Directly ahead of both blocks is the shadow zone. Very clear to see that fog even from here, eh'? Kinda scary, isn't it... It's already several kilometers in size.

I can help one or the other side at a time, but don't expect me to pull a magic trick. Achilles Heel can't be in two places at once y'know. I'll help whichever side I think needs it more. Y'all have radios. You know how to contact me. Now get into position and get ready. Reconnaissance just squawked in now, something is moving inside, whatever it is will be out here in a couple minutes, tops.

Oh, and there might be a third option, if y'all have a whole lot of folks wit'cha... In the middle of the two blocks is a large apartment complex, ten stories tall. Y'all could use that to fire at enemy forces on either side, but it'll take you a while to move from one side to the other, obviously, so whichever side you position on, you better have a good reason for movin'... Still, Reco didn't clear the building. That's a code yellow for you greens, means there might still be nasty shit in there just waitin' for you to be all nice and cozy n' vulnerable before they repeat a scene straight outta Psycho, kay? Okay. Good.

Good luck. I ain't got the Colonel's sense of faith, but... God be with y'all. Achilles Heel, out."
-Captain Derek, Achilles Heel.
Missions:

Note: Mission participants can move from mission zone to mission zone, but doing so takes time. Only do this if you feel it's absolutely necessary, as it can put you out of the fight for 1-2 posts while you reposition and leaves you vulnerable to an attack by assassin units if you go alone.

Note #2: Bring friends. If you don't, I'll be happy. You won't be.

Hey what gives? I'm still around, in fact I sent you a message this morning that me and PC were working on a collab post...and you said you wouldn't be updating it until Friday...I'm not mad, I'm just trying to get things straight here.

An error on my part, actually, as I sent to you in a PM the moment I realized you were still here. Hurr.

EDIT

Or the forums timed out when I tried to send the message... Wow. Now I appear twice the fool. My apologies.

EDIT #2

Aaand IC post repaired. Now the King's Ranger stays behind and Auric goes, as I'm assuming you would probably have Auric go after the objective anyway.

I LIED! MWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

First blow next.
Aerandir added to inactive list. So much for Renaltia.

Alex put back on the active list.

Also, PCSutfin, you are alone it seems. Aside from your inactive playmates. And the women, who all ran off after something else. Mikan is on her way over to you. She'll be around next post. As with the Amazonia Imperiia players, just ask and I can fire off lines to you via PM. Just start one.

Oh, and yes, that is the power of the Mage's Guild, and why nobody fucks with them, ever. Because if you did try to storm one of their compounds, they would literally just physically move to another one within minutes and then close the ethereal door behind them, leaving you several miles way grasping at empty space. And then they would actually start to fuck with you...
"Hiya! Name's Mikan, meee-kan, me-kan, got it? Okay! We're the blades sent to help your king! Courtesy of our queens." -Mikan, Page 1.

Royal Blood

Rayne Walker quickly left with Auric.Jason Drake stayed behind for a moment, making some comment about how he wanted to look around for a while longer. After all, they had a clear objective: The ex-ranger in the Rat Skull Charmé. They traveled back down the large set of steps they previously came from, and within minutes, found the poison shop. It was a humble looking bungalow, with a simple wooden door that had a rat's skull painted on it in green.

Within it were several rows of shelves of variously shaped daggers, crossbows, bolts, and even a few import bows from other lands. Variously coloured liquids lined the walls, some bubbling, some fizzing, some being eerily still. Some were partially transparent, even, but those tended to have a higher price--all outside of their pay range, of course. For a humble looking shop it had quite a vast array of tools. Behind the shop's counter stood a middle aged man, with a few hints of gray in his otherwise sterling black hair. There were many scars on his arms and three prominent ones on his face: This man had seen many conflicts in his time, and yet, his faded brown eyes gave the impression of a man that welcomed new customers.

He wore simple commoner's clothes, though on his left hand he had a ring with a very expensive ruby gemstone on it, and he still wore the tattered green cloak of the King's Rangers around his waist. Upon closer inspection, his heritage became immediately clear with the thick villager accent: This man had been born and raised Renaltan pure, central lands, closest to the once forgotten capital. "Name's Vesal. How can I help you? If it has something to do with the royal murder, please, fuck off in advance, I didn't sell the assassin anything."
As Rayvon's hand touched the door it opened with utterly no effort, likely assisted by magic. Within was the first floor of the multi-level location, built in an almost labyrinthine way with several rooms and halls and other such places. From the outside it was plain that despite how large the place was, there was no way it could physically contain the several hundred meters of corridors they could see, and that was, of course, only what they could see, there was likely more beyond that. Mikan's breath is caught in her throat as she stumbles forward for a moment, grasping her head. "Ohh..." She says softly as a hand grasps her shoulder softly... It felt familiar. Mikan looks up and spots something that immediately causes her to become extremely confused. "A...Manda?..."

As it turned out, there was more than just "dragon lady", AKA, Venidrus, within the building. The building that seemingly stretched on for eternity. No, no, no no no... This was a Mage's Guild establishment. One of many that dotted the land, collecting artifacts, and a hub to boot. It physically connected to all the local outposts in Liveria, without actually, physically, connecting to them, using a series of magical, ethereal pathways that likely laid just beyond the corridors. Amanda, now in her middle age with signs of wrinkles starting to appear around her eyes, managed a small smile at the sight of Mikan. "Yes. It's me... Though..." She motions with her hand, showing a crisp image in the air of Rayne Walker. "...He needs a woman's intuition with him... Before he makes a mistake in Fate's Web... You wouldn't mind, doing an old woman a favour?" Amanda asks, the small smile remaining ever persistent along with a warm glow behind her purple eyes. Mikan sighed and nodded, looking at Ceann and Rayvon. "Ohhh welll... Catch'ya later, gotta do granny a favour." She says with a wink and a giggle before leaving the way she came and moving at a quick pace to reinforce Rayne Walker.

It was at this point that, amidst floating book cases and a couple of apprentices, Venidrus descended with levitation from a higher floor. Her scaled arms were wreathed in flames as she did, a sign of her magical power, and yet, her decorative red dress remained undamaged. The dress revealed her surprisingly feminine curves, and one glance showed a complete lack of a tail. Yet her hands did show hints of the scales that ran up her arms to her shoulders, and at 6'5", she was abnormally tall, for a woman... A human woman, anyway. As was described, her hair, long and red, was as fiery in colour as it had been described, short of actually being on fire. Her high heels clicked as they touched the ground, and her eyes fluttered open, red irises greeted the party, as did a sharp toothed grin at the sight of Penelope. "Ahh, Penny! Welcome back, have you finally decided to try on a dress I found for you?" She stated with a motherly tone. A quick look around the room after Venidrus' distraction would show that Amanda had already left as soon as she had appeared. In all likelihood, she had been there just to speak to Mikan, and then leave. How she knew Mikan was coming right at that moment was anyone's guess. Penelope quickly shook her head. "T-Too revealing..." She says with a blush as Venidrus laughs. "One day you will see the point of it." She looks at Ceann and Rayvon, and does a quick bow of her head. "Welcome, my guests, welcome! This is my home, make yourselves comfortable! Just don't bother the apprentices, they have much to learn about golems. And that they shouldn't make one out of a bear." A few shredded papers and books, and what looks to be the remains of a once beautiful dress, float through the air near the apprentices. "...Because bears do really bad things to things I like..."

The recent text walls are too much for me to hit on my phone, just letting you all know I read them. With a few divergent points, I think we have done the impossible on the internet and reached a consensus on the policy side of things. Nobody wants religion to get taxpayer money or force of government, nobody wants any parts of religion mandatory, and nobody has any problem with people using their religiously derived values system in voting. Got that right so far?The only reason I want the decor voted on and built with private money as opposed to letting anyone set up what they want is that, sorry to say, the Kim Jong Un personality cult beer can tower has no place at a Christmas celebration. Were it not for ridiculous and confrontational stuff like that (That was hypothetical, but it has happened that people put up obnoxious things) I would have no problem.

Agreed.

The Catholic regions of Germany were the regions most prominently opposed to the Nazi Party, and subsequently least likely to vote for it. Catholicism had always been the enemy of hard-line German nationalists, going back to Bismarck's Kulturkampf. The Catholic Church's degrees of opposition to Hitler, from the beginning, far outweighed any and all degrees of cooperation, or even acceptance, at any point in his regime. You're forgetting how popular Hitler (or at least some of his views) were in Germany—the vast majority of citizens of the Weimar Republic were opposed to things like the Treaty of Versailles. If Hitler was Christian, he was a self-hating Christian.

Hitler was, and used it as a tool for control. You are right about the Catholics often voting against him, but a big part of it was that they, too, were a targeted minority. Didn't stop the Vatican from trying to leave the others to die by signing a deal with the devil, though, being the Nazi Party was about as trustworthy as a person actively trying to backstab you can be...

Still. Yes, I suppose I did make it sound like the religious universally loved him. No, they didn't, most certainly not.

Criticism of American industry that uses false information to make misleading statements is Anti-American. Lying, outright, to make negative claims against the United States, is Anti-American. I don't know how you could possibly disagree with that. If it was legitimate criticism then I'd only say it was anti-American for its tone, but if it's using and citing statistical information that's simply incorrect, it can't possibly be constructive.

I have no strong position on it as I have yet to see it personally. I wouldn't call it Anti-American if it holds negative views of America. I'd called it Anti-American if it actively seeks to repress and exterminate American culture, ethics, ideology, politics, people, and so on, which, again, I haven't seen it, so I have no idea if it does.

If it's not constructive though, it's a pile of shit either way. I can agree on that.
Agreed with MDK.

Albeit, if Thrawn were to make an appearance... I admit, I'd probably scream with joy.
