Triss Merril - The Derelict - 8:37 AM August 25th, 2089
There was something both incredibly therapeutic and incredibly terrifying about being in the zero gravity vacuum of space, clad in a heavy airtight suit and only kept from floating into the void by a thick cable tether. It was here that Triss Merril could feel truly at peace, among the great constructs of the old humans that existed pre-apocalypse. Byzantium was, of course, built on the ruins of a derelict space station, and a lot of work went into maintaining it. But today Triss's job was incredibly monotonous. As Byzantium took more people in, it had to be expanded. The old earth space station had plenty of room, but much of it was still in shambles. So Triss and a swarm of others have been set with the task to patch up the hull breaches that littered the old station, making it air tight and liveable. A very long and arduous job, but one that bought a unique sense of peace. It was amazing to look out from one of the breaches and see the wasteland that is Earth. It reminded Triss of how far she has come to get here. So Triss continued, finding happiness in her work.

The outward district. Triss didn't like to be here, but the walk was required to get to the old parts of the station. Traveling through the Outward District was her least favorite part of the day. The walk to the nearest transit station was a short one, but anything could happen in that short timespan. The engineers always stuck together here. Safety in numbers. The Outward District was a very scary place still, especially to Triss. There was always a ne'er-do-well on every street corner and the occasional gunshot or scream breaking out over the avenues. A single sentry often escorted the group, but today it was strangely absent. It's well known that the AI Drones are becoming far too spread thin. Perhaps more should be created, but it often isn't that simple. Did Byzantium have to resources to mass produce AI? Few could say. But thankfully Triss's walk today was uneventful. She always stuck to the center of the group of engineers, although she didn't know many of them, and few wished to talk to her. Perhaps something about her was slightly off-putting.

Triss Merril - Residential Sector - 7:04 PM August 25th, 2089
It was during the evening hours that Triss found herself lost. Not in the sense that she didn't know where she was, but she lost herself. During her time alone, she realized she has no idea who she is anymore. She definitely isn't the happy girl she was back before... everything. She could hardly speak to a stranger without losing her composure. The only time she was at true peace was in the bowels of Byzantium, working. She found true happiness floating high above Earth, barely kept from sinking into the endless black void. But here, at home, by herself, she had nothing. Nothing to look forward to. Nothing to keep her going except some small modicum of hope for the next day. All she could do was throw herself into study. Read more, learn more. But she found little satisfaction in that. She wanted to be able to have friends. But she couldn't bring herself to. Triss Merril hated the person she has become.

Name: Triss Merrill

Age: 28

Height: 5'

Weight: 112 lb

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Build: Triss has a slim build, giving her a small frame. She often appears quite a bit smaller then others.

Personality: Triss is a very weak person. She wasn't always like this, but has changed greatly due to the trauma she has endured on Earth. She is a meek ans nervous person, shying away from others and often fearing strangers, especially those she finds scary. It is easy for her to become attached to those she is close to and thinks can protect her. She can often be submissive and caves in under those with stronger will then her. The things she fears most is being kidnapped and separated from those she is close to.

Despite her meek personality, Triss is very smart. She is well learned and well read, and has become well versed in the mechanical workings of Byzantium City and how it keeps afloat. If the apocalypse on Earth never happened, she would likely be a very successful person. She is also a survivor. Having only recently been rescued from Earth, she knows how to take care of herself better then it may appear. She is not physically strong but is quick and can use weapons. She knows how to take care of herself, although she may fear having to do so.

Among those she considers friends, she can open up a bit more, but even in their company quickly becomes a recluse when they join others. She may even be prone to cracking a joke in the right situation. She finds difficulty in saying no, and is not prone to sharing her ideas with a group is a decision needs to be made, even if she feels she is right. Above all Triss merely seeks to be among those she trusts and those she thinks can protect her.

Job: Triss is one of the many engineers that keeps the city in working order. She has a brilliant mind for repairing and creating technology.

Residency: Residential Sector

History: To most the wasteland back on Earth was an awful place. To Triss, it was a living hell. Triss was once a normal girl, but what she experienced on Earth shaped her into the timid person today. She has learned to fear others, because Humans are awful people. Triss was always weak, but when the apocalypse happened she learned just how weak she was. When everything went to hell she and her family joined a group of survivors. It was her parents and her younger sister. For a while everything seemed alright. Life was hard, and they had to scavenge for food, but they kept away from others and learned how to survive. It seemed safe in the small community they created. They lived peacefully, and for a while everything was okay.

But soon Triss learned that there could be no peace as long as they stayed on Earth. Her community may have lived peacefully, but as society collapsed, there were those who sought to enjoy the chaos. Those who wished to exploit others and do as they please. Kill, rape, steal, it didn't matter to them. Anything to break free from the society they once lived in. They dabbled with exotic drugs that warped their minds and their bodies. They were crazed and violent. One such group found Triss's community. They were, of course, hostile and attacked them. It was a bloodbath. Almost everyone who Triss knew was killed. By what seemed to be a stroke of luck Triss was not killed in the initial fighting, but Triss never counted herself as lucky.

The drug addled gang of murders took Triss as a prize. They took the heads of her family and friends as prizes too. The gangs hideout was a hellish place. An old military complex filled with prisoners like her. Most rooms were covered in blood, and a cacophony of screams would keep Triss up most nights. They had a room dedicated to displaying the other prizes they kept- the heads of those they killed. The things that happened to Triss there were unspeakable. It was truly the definition of hell, and this is the place where Triss learned the truth: Humans are awful.

The gang that kept her was very large, numbering in the hundreds. It was only natural that many other groups were overpowered, and people like her constantly came in. However this was a mistake on the gangs part. As more and more groups were killed, and more captives taken, they slowly began to outnumber their captors. Eventually, through sheer force of numbers many escaped. It was hard for an untrained gang to keep a hold of that many people, especially in their drug addled state. Triss eventually slipped out too, but she was permanently changed. She spent the next several days wandering the wasteland, avoiding others, constantly hungry and thirsty. She barely lived, and almost like a mirage in the desert a building appeared before her. It was almost unscathed in the wasteland.

Triss found her salvation in one of the many Byzantium outposts. She managed to pass the psych test to enter, she got the cybernetic implants, and she was taken to the city high above the wasteland that was Earth. It was like a dream. She never thought she would escape Earth, but she ended up in an unimaginable paradise. Triss was always smart, but in Byzantium she sought to learn more. She learned how the city works. She learned how it kept afloat. She learned how to repair the many mechanisms that operated it. She was assigned as an engineer. She escaped hell. She now lives a happy life, but in the end, how long can it last?

Oh, Vita, I noticed that your 3 characters character sheets were only in the interest check. Do you think you could put them somewhere in the OOC? Whenever I make a post I like to be able to reference CSs and all that, and it's nice to have less tabs open.
Adrianna strode confidently down the dimly lit corridor. She pushed open the heavy wooden door that lie at the end of the corridor. She emerged in the main foyer of the Warrior's Guild, the place where she made her home. She passed the main desk, where all jobs were received and posted for members of the guild to accept. The attendant that manned the desk, a young elven women by the name Eruthea, greeted Adrianna. "Hello Miss Fields. I trust your contract went well?" Adrianna merely smirked, and replied "Of course it did. As usual, have my reward delivered to my home." Eruthea nodded at Adrianna, and Adrianna continued on. She continued on into the mead hall of the Guild, by far the liveliest part of the Guild. The room was bustling with many warriors stopping to chat and rest between missions. There were, of course, those that were trying to pick fights with the other members of the guild- not in malice, but merely because this was a gathering place of warriors, and it was natural that warriors would butt heads to prove who was strongest.

And, of course, Adrianna was always willing to prove she was the strongest. A meek voice spoke up next to Adrianna, "M-Miss Fields? Welcome back. I've been practicing since you left... do you think we could spar?" The voice belonged to a young girl somewhere near the age of 13, who went by the name 'Sherry'. Sherry was an orphan taken in by the guild, similar to Adrianna, and for this reason Adrianna typically obliged when she asked her to help her train. Despite her fragile appearance and shy temperament, Sherry was a proficient swordswomen for her age. Not that Adrianna expected she would give her any trouble in a duel. "If that is what you wish, I will oblige. If you can force me to move or falter, I will admit that you are the victor Sherry." Adrianna replied. The young novice nodded. "Okay, draw whenever you are ready." Adrianna instructed. It was easy to tell when her attack was coming- Sherry tensed. It was an obvious tell. Adrianna easily blocked her attack. Sherry continued to strike Adrianna for several minutes, but to no avail. The expert swordswomen blocked her attacks with ease. Soon, the young girl fell over in exhaustion. "Train harder young one, I'm sure one day you will be able to best me." With those words Adrianna left the mead hall.

From there, Adrianna headed home, eager to receive the reward from her last mission. Almost all missions dispensed by the guild had a monetary reward, but it was not unknown for other varieties of rewards to be offered. In the case of this mission, in which Adrianna was requested for by name, she received a reward only she would be interested in. The reward was information. It was a timestamped manifest of all those who entered and left the Noble District on the night of her family's slaughter, taken by the guards posted between each district. The list would prove to be a valuable step in solving the mystery- for there was a name that should not be on that list, under any circumstance. A half and hour after the alleged time of the slaughter, the name 'Leone Fields' was listed leaving the noble district.
That's the greatest character idea ever. A thousand year old lich with Alzheimers.
Name: Adrianna Calabrese

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Appearance: Adrianna is a youthful girl with soft white skin. She has long straight red hair that reaches down to the small of her back. She has a small frame, and stands at a rather average height of 5'3. She is lithe and graceful, and athletically-inclined. Adrianna has a heart-shaped face adorned with deep green eyes. Adrianna has a charming smile with straight white teeth, but often prefers to keep a stern face, probably due to her dark past.

Profession: Master Duelist of the Warrior Guild

Personality: Adrianna is a serious and determined warrior. She has an iron-like resolve and won't give up easily. Adrianna is driven by the goal of finding the person who murdered her family, and will go to great lengths to catch him or her. Adrianna is also rather egotistical, believing that she could probably defeat most in a duel. Despite her negative traits, Adrianna is a loyal friend that will protect those close to her. Adrianna can also be surprisingly nice when she wants to be. She doesn't like to see others suffer and is typically willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She also has a playful side she only shows to those close to her, sometimes even willing to crack an occasional joke.

Equipment/Weapons: Adrianna's weapon of choice is a sword passed down through her family for many generations. The sword- known by the name 'Kusanagi'- is an ancient artifact recovered from a land far to the east. The sword features a razor-sharp curved blade, renowned for it's strength and cutting ability. Adrianna dons light steel armor that protects against minor impacts while not inhibiting her movement.

Abilities: Adrianna is known to be one of the greatest duelists in Karstberg, and is of course a master swordsmen. She uses an agile and mobile fighting style, relying on overpowering and outsmarting her enemy with swift and unexpected attacks. She is also known for having an exceptional defense which is rarely broken.

Brief Backstory: Adrianna Calabrese is the 14th child of this generation of the Calabrese family. The Calabrese were an influential and rich family of duelists and warriors in Karstberg. At one time Adrianna was one of the potential heiresses of the Calabrese family, but had one of the lowest standings among her large family. Being one of many children Adrianna grew up among many brothers and sisters, who often cared for her instead of her parents. Her father, as the head of the family, was constantly out practicing their family's profession, proving them to be not only the greatest warriors in Kartsberg, but in many lands beyond. Adrianna was also trained in swordsmanship, but was considered the weakest among her brothers and sisters, giving her very small chances of becoming the head of the family. However, soon none of that mattered, as one night the entire Calabrese clan was slain in their sleep by a lone swordsman. Very little is known about the events surrounding the slaughter, but fatefully the only one to survive the murders was Adrianna Calabrese. No one knows why she survived, but she vowed to become a strong swordswoman and kill the one who killed her family. Now she has completed half her goal, being one of the strongest and most respected warriors in the Warriors Guild, all that remains is to find the one that killed her family.
This looks fun, I'm going to start making a character shortly.
Adrianna was disappointed by Verity's answer, but not surprised by it. This was how the Alphas kept control. They made the Omegas not only thing that there was no escape from oppression, but that oppression was their destiny. It would be hard to take down an unfair government if the people who had it worse off were happy about it, but Adrianna promised herself she would change things. So Adrianna decided to tell Verity the truth she believed in. "I'll tell you a secret, Verity. I think you're wrong. You Omegas all think we're destined to lead, but we're not. We may have a higher IQ, but that's just a number. I think you Omegas are truly strong, because you can smile even though you have it so bad." Adrianna smiled at Verity. "You're dismissed, but think about what I just told you, okay?" Adrianna turned down the hall and walked away. Dinner was probably getting cold.

The meal satisfied Adrianna, and she spent the rest of the evening dealing with business. She signed papers, answered call, and did her best to deal with the fallout from the meeting earlier in the day. By the time she got everything done, it was late, and she was even more exhausted then when she first got home. She headed to her room. For now she would sleep, but tomorrow she was prepared to make her first move, even if it did mean she was risking her position in the government. After all, if she couldn't do anything, what would be the point of helping the Insurgency?
Adrianna quickly noted the fact that Verity was in distress. It was obvious why. Adrianna had blundered. If an Alpha asked an Omega their name, it meant nothing good. So Adrianna paused and considered her next words. "Verity... that's a pretty name. Don't worry Verity, you're not in trouble. Actually, I just want to ask you a question, then you're free to go..." Adrianna paused. Why was she doing this? It wasn't typical of her. She was more careful then this. But she continued, nonetheless. "Verity, do you think there can be a world where we all live equally? The Alphas, and the Betas, and the Omegas?" Adrianna mentally sighed. She was being stupid.

But she would make a world like this, and she wanted to know if the Omegas had the will to help make it happen. There was the Insurgency, but she needed to see what the common people thought. She wanted to know if Verity could see such a world, if any of them could. Maybe Adrianna was the only one. Maybe it was just a pipe-dream, something that could never happen. But Adrianna would try. And tomorrow, she planned on making her first official move towards equality. Tomorrow the Inner-Circle was meeting, and she was going to test the waters.
