Current If your ears are burning, it means someone is talking about you. Usually they're saying "He's on fire."

The knight's head turned as Eldarin feinted his strike and the knight smashed it's shield toward him, missing him with the use of the feint. With the knight's attention off of Vane, he took the opportunity to strike, leaping and smashing his mighty blade down into the middle of the head, cracking it in half as the knight fell down on its shield. The room was still once again... and Vane took the moment to slump against the wall, fumbling on his person for the vitalizing tonic and downing some of it.
The smaller knight's head exploded in a small shower of debris and ashes as the body slumped to the floor. Vane rose after recovering from his shield bash, now they were alone with the halberd knight, Vane began to circle one way as the knight's attentions were on him for the time being.
"Go low!" Vane suggested as he went for the smaller of the two knights, swinging his blade at the feet and whilst not breaking them, it sent him reeling backward enough to give them a slight opening as the other knight bashed him with his shield.
The lightning was not particularly effective against the knight's stone body, but it did wind him as a wounded Vane turned out to be his saviour here, leaping from his position on the ground and cleaving off the head of his opponent, evening the odds once more. They had a moment to stand off with their two opponents to figure out what to do. The halberd knight had it's shield up and seemed to be trying to box them in with the help of its cohort, also holding its shield up.
As they stepped into the full room itself and began circling, they were both surprised as two more knight statues were hiding behind the corners, catching them both by surprise with a slash to the back each. Worse still, whilst they were recovering, the halberd knight caught them both in a wide swing of his weapon, knocking them both backward.
The door led them into a narrow corridor. At the end of it, they could see another larger room with another door beyond that. Standing in the middle was another statue knight, this one holding a tower shield and halberd, practically glaring at them as they entered the door. The corridor leading up to it denied much further look at the room ahead.
"Madam." Dren did a half bow toward Garnet. "Well... I feel it is in all our interests I stay with the group. No matter my skill, I would be vanquished were I to encounter too strong of resistance." Dren explained himself further. He lied slightly, of course. In reality he wanted nothing more than to get back to civilization and return to his normal life... but fact was, he couldn't survive alone in these woods. He'd have to stick with these people... plus, as doubtful as that offer of a job was to him... it was still tantalizing, a golden fruit hanging in his horizon.

And then a Hobgoblin was rudely interrupting their conversation. Well, this just drove his mental point home all the more, didn't it? He hesitated before he made any moves... Hobgoblin armour would protect well against his usual ice spells and he doubted the special payload he carried would do much either... no, this would require something a little bit unorthadox. Something he'd been keeping quiet about... well, everyone probably knew, at least of its presence, but not it's form. He wasn't particularly proud... but, desperate times and all that.

"Royal rat vanguard!" Dren removed his hat and pointed the mouth to face the creature. "Go my furry friend!" From the hat, a rat, about the size of a man's foot, leapt out, having been hiding out in there all this time, dark matted fur and a sharp tuft of red fur on its spine, landing on the grass before the Hobgoblin. Dren's cloak became a little more brown and ragged in nature, tearing at the hem, his cane taking on the form of a brown bamboo-like blowpipe with a silver rat head at the top. On his command, the rat ran at the beast. One rat became two, two became four, before long, an entire mobile force of furry pests were charging the beast, crawling up its legs and scurrying over its body, going for the gaps in its armour, sinking their sharp little fangs in. They would do little damage, but their combined efforts would hopefully poison the beast. Once their task was complete, the rats faded from being and their leader retreated to the safe haven of his master's hat.

"Good show little one, good show." Dren applauded it's efforts as he replaced his hat upon his head.
"Well, if there's no key here, I found another door downstairs behind one of those table. I believe there's more to this temple." He let him know, leaving the armour in the chest and headed back down the stairs.
"Alright." Vane went over to inspect the large chest. The diary had been written by a man named Jasper of Bellmoral. It told simple tales of the life of a guardsman, protecting this temple that served as a gateway into the kingdom of Galothiel properly. It started out nice enough, stories of simple rounds, but the further it goes, it mentions the guard captain becoming increasingly frustrated as the men began to slack off and lose morale with the ichor flowing through the kingdom. The diary ended on one page before the rest went blank.
"Why did the captain do this to us?"
Meanwhile, Vane hefted over a heavy looking set of armour, it was white and it looked to be made out of stone, matching the suits the statues were wearing perfectly. It'd be hard to move in, but a suit like that could give him some incredible defence.
In the above room he found bunks, unoccupied but showing signs they had once been inhabited. On the one end of the room was a large wooden chest, thankfully not locked. There was little else of interest, besides a red leather bound diary set on the bedside of one of the bunks.
