"Alright, that's fine, just don't get lost." Lauren replied, she hoped Amber wasn't going out to smoke again. She lead the others out and down a trail that read Halcyon House ahead the trail led up to a dorm building. Flowers were planted in the front, and woods were in the back. Yellow lights glowed inside the windows. The stars shone above it all, this had been Lauren's only home. She put her hand out and smiled, "Welcome to your new home." With that she led them inside to the large living room. A fire burned in the hearth and a bunch of board games were stacked on one wall. Sofas and chairs filled the room with end tables. A set of stairs was on the right, along with a door leading to a hall, "First floor is guys, second is girls, third is guys, and fourth is girls. Go ahead and pick out a dorm." she said, "Your supplies should be in the closet, they arrived yesterday from the trucks."
it's not really about thievery actually. It takes place during WWII in Germany. It's about this girl, Leisel, who is being sent to live with foster parents because her mother can't afford to keep her anymore. It's sort of like her life as she grows up on Himmel Street, as her relationships grow with her friend Rudy, and her foster mother and father. it's also written beautifully, and the narrator of the story is Death as if death were a person. read it!!! it's so powerful!
Lauren stood up and started to walk out of the dining hall. She looked behind her shoulder, making sure that they all got up too. She didn't want to risk losing one of them in the dark.
