It was raining the night of October First, 1857. A man runs down the street, the paper in his hand. The London Times. Across the headline it said; MURDER! THE 11TH IN A STRING OF MURDERS! The man knew that he shouldn't be out this late. He stopped to check the time on his silver line pocket watch. 11:26. "Where had the time gone?" the man thought to himself. "I should be in bed with my wife." He rushed down the lane, only a few blocks away from his house, 21st Pudding Lane. As he saw his house, he slowed his pace. Suddenly, a Laugh was heard though the air. The man stopped "W-who's There??" he shouted. The Laugher only got more intense. And then... The man was killed.

The next morning, The man was found, sitting down. his head had been cut off, replaced with a pumpkin with a smile carved into it. In the man's hand was a note addressed to Scotland Yard. It read...

The Detectives
1. The Famous Detective;

Sir George

Name: Sir George Lakeview
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Role: The famous detective
Personality: George was an active soldier in the first opium-war, fighting against the Chinese. In 1839 he was shot in the leg by an enemy soldier, giving him a free pass home. The war still haunts his memory. He is an highly intelligent and analytic mind which made him climb up the ranks of Scotland Yard. Also George is an devout christian. Because of the wound he got in the war, George is dependent on a cane. His biggest case till yet was the finding of an kidnapped cousin of the monarch of England, for which he was knighted. George wants to catch the Game Master and give him the judgement he deserves, death, so God almighty may let him burn in hell.

Rules for The Famous Detective;
Read the Murder scene. The Murderer (and me) will write this together, in mass detail, so you can pick and pull at everything you need. Take anything you think that might be of value.
Try to tell the group what do, sense you are the best at what you do. It's up to them to listen or not.
Witnesses. Try to ask questions to any or all of them, what ever you seem fit. Some may not talk.

2. The Fighter; OPEN due to Inactivity of Johnathan.

Jonathan Godswell

Name: Jonathan Godswell

Role: fighter
Personality: hot headed and incredibly focused- -Jonathan grew up with only his sister after both of his parents died in a fire. After the fire he and his sister ran away knowing they would most likely be separated if they stayed. They lived on the streets for six years, with Jonathan fighting for or stealing what they needed to survive. One night while he was out looking for something for the two of them to eat, his sister was attacked and killed. He came back to their dirty alley to find his sister sitting against a wall, her head cut off and a note in her hand. All it said was "you will never find me." Having already read about the game master in the papers, his despair quickly turned to unadulterated anger. He knew that someone had the answers to who did this to his baby sister. So he grabbed the note and headed out, planning to crack open heads until he found his answers.

A Grand Fighter. You have a bone to pick with the murderer, and nothing will get in your way.
Rules for The Fighter:
Witnesses. Anyone could be the murderer. If the wont talk, offer to beat the snot out of them for the answer. Some witnesses might come clean to things they have done.
In a Fight/ Chase situation, you can take charge. This is what your best at after all.
You do what you want. You may listen to the Famous Detective, but you don't have to.
Trust no one. Anyone may be working for the murderer.

3. The Spiritual Medium;

Role: The Spiritual Medium

Personality: Patient. Selfless. Independent. Loyal to her co-workers, family, and friends (living and deceased).

Description: Growing up in the coastal city of Pozzuoli, Italy, Ana never once had dreams outside her quiet life. Her father humbly made a living as a fisherman, and her mother spent her time raising Analise and her several siblings. It wasn't until Analise was sixteen years old that she met the man she would now call her husband, her one love. He was different than most boys, he had goals, ambitions, and plans. Despite her mother's warnings, the two would sneak away to their own hiding place and talk to one another until the sun went down and rose the next day. When he smiled, it gave her heart a reason to beat. When he spoke, her ears only had reason to listen to his voice. When he held her, she knew not what a life without him was.

If you couldn't guess, it wasn't long before the two were wed. Alas Ana's husband did not see how life in their small coastal town could give them a better chance. Sure, he was happy here with his bride, but he wanted more for them. He wanted more. Within months, the two were packed up and on a boat to London. Dreams supposedly came true here, their life together started here.

Voices had always haunted Analise's thoughts and dreams. She figured it was just a 'quirk' of being a young woman with a lot to say. She dared not speak about it to her husband nor anyone else for that matter though. They would think she was insane. They would think she would need to be locked up and the key thrown into the ocean. Life was hard enough as it was, being encased within a cell would not help anything.

It wasn't until 18 years later at the grisly murder of her husband that everything from the voices in her head to the chaos that followed it came into full swing. It was from then on Analise knew her duty.

Knocking on George Lakeview's home in the middle of the night, she broke down in tears. "I have something I must share with you detective, but I beg of you to not be alarmed." she sobbed, taking the man's free hand gently, her eyes rolled back into her head. She spoke of what her deceased husband told her, details of what happened that faithful night. The detective was shocked, and his faith a bit shaken. Analise as she came to- assured him, that she meant no harm by this act, and pleaded for him to let her help the team and put a stop to this barrage of deaths. She knew it all seemed ridiculous, but all the answers she had given were correct, how could it be a charade?

He agreed, and Analise has been a part of the team ever since.

Alignment: Chaotic Good.

The best witness is the one who was killed him/herself.
Rules for The Spiritual Medium:
If you would like to talk to the dead, make a post that establishes that. The Dead will appear only to you, so you might want to tell the others. or keep the info to your self.
Listen and work with the Famous Detective, as he knows what he's doing.
Understand the Fighter, as you may have lost your own family member to the Murderer too. (if you want.)

4. The Researcher;

Biography:

Born unto wealth, Henry grew up a young noble in Wiltshire, England. As a child, he spent days upon days indoors, locking himself in the families libraries as he lost himself in every book. To no surprise, Young Henry excelled academically and was well on his way to becoming a renowned scientist. That was the goal set for him by his parents. However, Henry was ahead of his time when it came to ideals, morals, and basic societal norms. He aspired to be a writer, and after one year he was forced to drop out of Oxford University because he had devoted his time in college to writing a book. Low of Solipsism by Henry MacDougal, it was published soon after he had dropped out and tackled a variety of societies issues from a philosophical angle while at the same time bashing racism and people or royalty who do nothing to help those in poverty.

In the modern era the book would've been widely regarded as thought provoking and may have even received an award or two, however much like MacDougal himself, it was ahead of it's time. Low of Solipsism grew infamous all across England. Both the book itself as well as Henry were ridiculed and bashed by critics all over. Young Henry, who lived at Oxford at the time, fled from the city with a significant amount of his parents money and decided to lay low. It was hard to tell if this was done out of humiliation, fear of ridicule, or a desire to better himself. Either way, the MacDougal name was brought shame. Ironically, Henry made a large sum of money due to Royalties he had procured from his infamous book. Although the feedback was horrible the book itself had achieved commercial success, if you could even call it successful.

At nineteen years, Henry began to look at his bleak future. No longer able to return to college without the support of his parents a large part of him wanted to redeem not only his reputation but that of his family, who by now had disowned him. On a whim the young lad decided to join the military in hopes of becoming some type of war hero. The idea was somewhat foolish but was the only solution a young Henry could think of at the time. Fighting on behalf of the British, Henry was thrusted straight into the Opium War of 1839. It was during this time he met the famous detective Sir George Lakeview, who at the time simply Private George.

Even though Henry aspired to be some type of war hero and bring glory back to his family name, the idea itself was far too naive for the young lad. He spent two years serving as a journalist and photographer for the British Army. After serving his last tour, the young private retired from the military early. With a handful of articles and photographs published to no avail, Henry decided to take advantage of his military benefits along with the money he had invested. Returning to college he was scheduled to spend seven years in school studying physics, engineering and medicine whilst at the same time indulging himself into a variety of different subjects all on his spare time, mostly psychology and botany. Just as his time as a child, Henry spent hours upon hours indoors, lost in books and studies.



Henry graduated from Cambridge at the age of twenty six in 1845, He had spent five years in school rather than seven and went straight to work as electric telegraph engineer and inventor, propelling him back into the public eye and ensuring his wealth and fame. Two years after graduating, Henry published a new book, Thermodynamics and Their Potential For Greatness. The book boded well with critics and was praised by a few renowned engineers as well. However, just as his past humiliation began to evaporate, William Thomson, another engineer and inventor, claimed that Henry had stolen a majority of his work and theories. Both of them had attended Cambridge and graduated in the same class, however William graduated at Second Wrangler and was even awarded a Smith's prize. His word overpowered Henry's, and once again his reputation was destroyed.

Shunned by his peers, Henry moved to London in hopes of putting his latest fiasco behind him and renewing himself. He changed his last name to Maddison and due to his wide array of credentials found work as a doctor at The London Hospital rather quickly. During his time working at the hospital Henry met Jane Fitzgerald who at the time was just a surgeon. Two months after being acquainted they soon married. Five years later Henry and Jane lived happily in London and had even raised a child. A four year old, healthy girl named Jodie Maddison.

During the winter season of 1852, disaster struck Henry and his family. A smallpox epidemic had plagued The London Hospital, both Henry and Jane were flooded with work treating an incredible amount of patients. About a month into the epidemic, Jane had acquired the smallpox disease unbeknownst to her and the rest of the family. Upon arriving home that day, she spread the disease to both Henry and Jodie, and within a week the three of them were quarantined in their own home. Henry, Jane and Jodie were all separated from eachother for a month. During the second week, Henry was on the verge of death, but as the month went on he soon recovered from a critical state. However, upon recovering from the epidemic, Henry was grimly told that both his wife and daughter had succumbed to the smallpox disease their second week into treatment and had died in their sleep.

Spiraling into a state of depression, Henry quit his job as a doctor as soon as he was well. He sold his house and instead purchased an apartment, where he lived in solitude. Over the next few years Henry spent a majority of his time indoors, where he would constantly publish a variety of books once again under the surname MacDougal. Whilst writing these books Henry began to dabble in morphine, cocaine, marijuana and occasionally opium. As soon as his publishings were available to the public people began to claim that Henry was going through a long term phase of post traumatic stress. His books were considered the writings of a madman. Soon after these claims hit the papers Henry decided from an analytical perspective that it would be wise to hire a therapist, even though Henry himself had spent a number years studying psychology.

He was diagnosed as clinically depressed and prescribed a variety of drugs to help tackle his mood, along with the illegal drugs he was already indulging himself in at the time. Henry spent the next four years of his life in a blur of depression, writings, drugs and post traumatic stress. He was well on the path to suicide until word had hit the papers that a kidnapped cousin of royalty had been found. Sir George Lakeview, knighted by the Queen for his heroic deeds. Even though it had been almost twenty years since the two had spoken, Henry recognized Sir George and made contact with the detective, hoping to possibly be of some assistance. In reality he was looking for purpose, looking for a reason to pull himself out of his home.

The two were reunited. Sir George brought Henry up to speed about the Game Master, and without hesitation, Henry asked to join his cause.

Personality:

At all times Henry appears restless and lethargic. His eyes always seem to have a tired expression. On occasion he'll often ignore those that speak to him, no matter how crucial the event may be. It's no surprise he suffers from depression. However if one manages to pick Henry up and out of his sluggish mindset they'd find out he can be somewhat of a talkative fellow, which is when his brilliancy tends to show. He's widely knowledgeable in a variety of different topics and studies and has developed an admiration for classics, music and especially literature of all kinds.

The one who takes the info and processes it into workable data. You are obliviously the smartest.
Rules for the Researcher:
Analyze what The Famous Detective found. It might be important, it may not. (I'll give the result)
Listen to The Spiritual Medium, the Evidence might be important.
The Fighter has almost no use to you.

Supernatural ability: Illusion mastery
Personality: The Game Master is - for all intents and purposes - a complete madman. He revels in killing and revels even more so in tormenting his hunters with cryptic clues and hard-to-find hints. He treats everything as some kind of game
What is currently known about his modus operandi: The Game Master strikes on nights that have an odd number (e.g. October the 1st) at exactly 11:40 PM. He kill his victims by cutting off the head of his victim and replacing it with a pumpkin with a smile carved into it. The Game Master will then leave some form of message addressed to Scotland Yard in the hands of his dead victims and takes the head with him to who knows where.
