Hayate Hyūzu
Konoha - Team 2

The pain from the unexpected bite nearly caused Hayate to collapse. Barely containing a scream of pain, he waited for the Ninken to release its grip. Dropping to one knee, Hayate began covering himself in his metal armour. As the metal spread across his body, it covered the wound on his leg, preventing it from bleeding more. At least for the moment. Cursing, Hayate stood, a little shakily at first. As he rose to his feet, he saw the man with the sickle attack both Shisen and Arashi. The genin were all injured now, and the bandits saw their opportunity to attack. Several of them began surrounding the three students, and Hayate saw two bandits head towards Arashi, attempting to put the dog down for good. Gritting his teeth from the pain, Hayate attempted to regain his focus.

The two men who had headed toward the injured Ninken were about to attack. One of the bandits raised a spear before suddenly disappearing into the earth with only his head above the surface. One of Hayate's shadow clones now stood in his place and, before the other bandit could react, the clone had drawn a kunai and slit the man's throat wide open. As the man fell dead to the ground, Hayate's shadow clone stayed by the side of the wounded Ninken. Careful to keep just enough distance so that the animal wouldn't be able to attack him as easily, but close enough so that he could protect it.

Glancing to his right, Hayate noticed another three bandits approaching Ezuri. The bandit in the rear was suddenly pulled underneath the earth as Hayate's second clone rose to the surface. The shadow clone moved to protect Ezuri, engaging the two bandits in melee, and giving his wounded teammate an opportunity to attack while they were distracted. The real Hayate turned his attention back to Shisen and the man with the sickle. She looked like she was in trouble, her injury causing her to lose ground. Hayate leapt forward as fast as his injured leg would take him. Whipping his staff around, he managed to block an attack from the sickle. Quickly turning the staff, Hayate managed to wrench the sickle out of the man's hands, leaving him open for Shisen to finish off.

Hayate moved once again so that he was almost back to back with the Inuzuka girl. There were four more bandits coming towards them at once. Cursing again, Hayate realized that they were in for quite a fight. Pulling out several shuriken, Hayate used his clan's ability and overcharged the weapons, throwing them towards the advancing enemies. The shuriken would explode on contact, and Hayate only hoped that his aim had been true.

As he said, I only have two modes: Too nice, and too mean. I am just lamenting about the fact that it is getting dangerously close to that, and I wish to tell you to take the skills of Rangers as portrayed in the Ranger's Apprentice with a spoon of salt, before applying them here. I like the CS and type of character myself, but I am against large lists of competences without incompetences, which is basically how the ranger's are portrayed in the books. The only thing they can't do is fight in melee, but their other skills effectively reduce the chance of getting involved in one to zero.

I will be making it my responsibility to ensure that the Rangers remain balanced. While the Ranger Corps is indeed heavily influenced by the Rangers Apprentice series, and I do enjoy many aspects from it, I intend to ensure that this Ranger Corps is a little more heavily invested in realism. For that matter I hope you can trust me to keep up the realism aspect. But if you ever have questions or concerns just let me know.

Following close to Kensuke, Hayate joined the charge towards Shisen and Arashi. He watched as the Inuzuka girl appeared to be surrounded. Trying to push himself faster, Hayate increased his speed, still sticking close to Kensuke as he did not want to break their formation. Spotting a nearby bandit, he used his staff, sharpening one edge and using the advanced reach to spin the staff and slice the man's throat. He had been trying to decapitate the man, but his swing had been slightly off and he only resulted in severing the man's carotid artery, causing him to fall to the ground, drowning in his own blood.

Hayate continued moving forwards, finally meeting up with Shisen and Arashi. Turning so that he had his back facing the girl and her dog, Hayate prepared to defend against any further attacks. They would have to make their way to Ezuri soon, he looked like he was in deep trouble. Spotting a man heading towards the injured genin, wielding an axe, Hayate pulled out three kunai and quickly launched them towards the man. He hoped that he would be in time to stop the man from hitting Ezuri. Turning back to Kensuke, Hayate waited for the jounin to make a move. Acting on his own now would only put the rest of his team at risk, and so Hayate waited for orders. Until that time he would defend himself against any bandits that happened to get too close.

Moving into position, Hayate kept an eye out on the bandits. There were quite a few of them in the camp. He kept track of their positions and their lines of sight between each other, making sure that when he attacked, he would know the right targets. Looking back at his new temporary teammates, Hayate hoped that they would work cohesively with one another. He was used to working with Kiyomi and Lee-san, and they worked very well as a team. Hayate readied himself, it would soon be time.

At Kensuke's command, Hayate's clones used the double suicide decapitation technique to quickly take out two guards before disappearing back underground. Leaping from his perch, Hayate landed close to Kensuke. He had originally anticipated that the team would stick close and systematically clear out the bandits, but as he watched that didn't seem to be the case. Operating on the fly, Hayate quickly moved towards a nearby bandit. He had chosen one that was not in sight of the others and, before the man had a chance to react, Hayate had clamped one hand over his mouth and used the other to ram a kunai through the back of the man's skull. Dropping the man, Hayate targeted another bandit not far away. Pulling out two kunai, he whipped them towards the man, one hitting him in the back and the other connecting right through the man's throat.

As far as Hayate was aware, he had not yet been seen. Moving swiftly back towards the tree, Hayate fell into position beside Kensuke. Looking around he could see that his two teammates had managed to take out a few of the other bandits. Unfortunately, it appeared as if there wasn't a formation that they were following. Hayate stayed close to Kensuke for the moment, his staff drawn in one hand, a kunai in the other. He wasn't foolish enough to run out and try to take down as many as he could, instead Hayate waited to see how the bandits would react, so that he could hopefully formulate a better plan of attack.
Sorry for the delay!

*I will have more information up on the Ranger Corps later on. It will have a detailed history as well as any other important information. If anybody has any questions regarding the Corps, or is interested in making a character for it, please fire me off a PM and I'd be happy to give you more info.*

Count me in!

Nodding his head towards Kensuke, Hayate formed a few handseals. Two shadow clones poofed into existence beside him and he sent them underground. It would be helpful to have an attack on two fronts. The clones that disappeared underground were able to sense where the bandits were, and they moved into position, ready for Kensuke's order.

Hayate himself followed his team in, pulling out two kunai, he turned his gaze on the encampment, observing the positioning of the bandits. Something nagged at the back of his mind, but Hayate ignored it. He had to focus. Staying high up on his perch, Hayate awaited the order to strike. His clones would strike from below, while the rest of the team would attack from above. He had not worked with anyone on this team except for Kensuke before, so he hoped that they would be able to work effectively.

Though he wasn't entirely happy that Meisa had felt the need to differentiate him and his two teammates, Hayate had understood why she had done it. As she briefed them, he stood, listening carefully to every word. When she mentioned that they would need to kill every last bandit, Hayate didn't even bat an eye. He found it slightly odd that killing did not bother him the way it used to, and a part of him was uncomfortable with that. Turning to follow Kensuke as he left the rooftop, Hayate noticed that they were going to have to keep the same pace as before.

After they had been travelling for some time, Hayate was a little disappointed in himself that he had fallen behind Kensuke-sensei. Adjusting his weights so that they were much lighter, Hayate renewed his pace, growing a little closer to the Jounin. A part of him was ashamed that he had to lower the weights in order to match the pace set by Kensuke, but as he realized how far they had come and how Kensuke was in much better shape than him, Hayate felt the shame diminish.

Arriving at their destination, Hayate was glad to see that his breathing was only slightly heavier than normal, and that he was not as tired as he thought he would be. Glancing at his two teammates, Hayate felt a small hint of jealousy at their sensory abilities. Once Kensuke had finished speaking, and the other members of Team 7 had announced their discoveries, Hayate simply stood still, awaiting his orders. He had no questions, nor did he feel the need for rest. Looking at Kensuke, Hayate waited to see what the Jounin would do.
Reyna Azuma
Kumo - Team 13

Eagerly powering through her breakfast, Reyna was excited for the day ahead. She was going to be meeting up with Midori at their new base, and she hoped that maybe some others had gotten word of what they'd created as well. She glanced out the open window of her kitchen, it was going to be a beautiful day. Turning back to her plate, Reyna smiled and stuffed the last bit of breakfast into her mouth, eager to get started.

"Reyna Azuma, you are required to meet with the rest of Team 13 at the Minosaki Teahouse within three hours." A strange voice suddenly spoke up from the direction of Reyna's window. Whipping her head around, Reyna almost spat out her food. A small sparrow stood on the windowsill, staring at Reyna. Trying to swallow her food too quickly, she ended up getting it stuck in her windpipe. Coughing profusely, Reyna quickly grabbed her water, downing it. "Are... are we getting a mission?" She asked.

Tilting it's head slightly, the bird responded. "Within three hours. Don't be late." With that, it flew off, leaving a stunned Reyna sitting at the table. So much for my plans... She thought to herself, getting up slowly. Putting her dishes in the sink, she went to get ready.
Two Hours Later - Minosaki Teahouse

Approaching the building nervously, Reyna wondered if her teammates were already inside. Opening the door slowly, she glanced around looking for any familiar faces.
