Luka visibly cringed as she heard the guild masters voice reverberate around the hall, cradling her staff in a defensive manner in front of herself as she turned towards the source of the imposing voice. She laughed nervously to herself for a moment, however upon hearing Iggy complain she couldn't resist a momentary sideways glance in his direction, smiling at him with feigned innocence. The first two Discharges really had been beyond her ability to stop. The third one, well, that was open to debate. “You started it,” Luka mouthed in Iggy's direction before turning toward the guild master and bowing politely, her staff held horizontally in both hands before her waist as she did so. In truth she was still somewhat riled up, the adrenaline in her veins not completely spent. This fact was clear enough to those who knew her due to the arcs of white electricity that danced around the tip of her staff, periodically threatening to shock any unsuspecting wizard within range. The fact that she could restrain herself at all was remarkable considering how bad it had been just a few years previous, when she had first come to the guild. Back then her electricity could run out of control with just the slightest provocation. It was still hard to control herself at times but on the whole things had improved a lot. “Master, how...are you?” Luka asked hesitantly, just in case he really was angry and not just getting everyone’s attention. Luka side stepped away from the unconscious wizard at her feet as if completely innocent of his obvious electrocution moments ago. “I hope you're not angry master? It was just a bit of fun and...Iggy...and Mimi...” Luka trailed off and without comment walked behind the bar, put on an apron and started sweeping the floor. This was clearly a well practised routine.
Maxwell watched the ethereal arm with morbid curiosity and was surprised at how little fear the sight of it elicited. It should have been more...unnerving. Perhaps this was also part of the tether that Kanoa mentioned before. He closed his eyes in thought and grimaced, shaking his head after a moment. No, that wasn't right, not exactly. The ability to perceive something alone should not automatically remove the fear that it elicits. Right? There was so much that he did not understand. Without turning toward her he locked his eyes on Kanoa and followed her for a moment. What was it she had called herself? A natural? She certainly seemed to be in the know at any rate. Was that because she was a natural or was it something else? How many naturals were there and why had he or anybody else for that matter ever heard of them. How was it that the supernatural remained exactly that, myth and superstition. Then again who would believe her or anyone else for that matter save for another natural. Or those who had been personally exposed and left tethered. The thought brought an unpleasant sensation of pressure to his chest so he discarded it for the moment.
Luka spun around and unleashed a discharge toward Iggy, hoping that Mimi's unintentional attack would put him in a bad position to dodge her attack. Unlike Thunder Bullet the ability Discharge was of her own creation that took advantage of her ability to spontaneous discharge lightning magic from her body, especially when riled up. It lacked the power and intensity of most lightning magic but it was very fast to cast, accurate and hard to dodge. She fired three such discharges in succession at his position and without waiting to see if any made contact leaped forward, her body engulfed in lightning. With her speed and mobility she intended to get behind Iggy while he defended, since she knew that the scale for brains would most likely repel the Discharge attacks. Luka would appear mid-air behind Iggy and attempt to lay her hands upon him. Now at this point it should be noted that Luka was no hand to hand combatant, not like Iggy or Mimi were. There was no way she could beat them that way. But she didn't have to. If she could put her and on Iggy's flesh then she could electrocute his ass. Though the same could be said for any part of her skin so he had better be careful about how he attempted to stop her.
Sorry, I was waiting for Kitty to post, I'll think something up in a hour or so.
Maxwell surveyed the occupants of the room from under his hood as he listened to Kanoa speak, his penetrating green eyes moving from person to person after a brief moment of contemplation, gauging their reactions to Kanoa's words. He had picked up on her uncertainty when she had greeted him. Had he done something to unnerve her? He got that kind of reaction more often than he would have liked. Regardless his own reaction was that of plain acceptance. A weak, short lived smile found its way to his lips and was gone just as fast. A few months ago he would not have believed a single word coming out of her mouth. It all sounded a bit too much like the fictional horror stories that his father peddled in. Hell, he probably would have never even showed in the first place. But here he was and he was ready to listen, if nothing else. If he was lucky he might even receive answers. Maxwell closed his eyes for a moment and processed what he was hearing. “Natural huh? There's nothing natural about this,” he said from under his hood in a voice that sounded as though he was suddenly irritated. He tutted at his own words. He hadn't meant to sound angry but he was aware that that was how it had come across. He tried a different tact. “This is new to me, so from my point of view there is nothing natural about any of this.” He took another bite out of the bland but acceptable cupcake. Her words made a certain kind of sense, especially after what had happened. Perhaps that was the manifestation of the so called 'tether' that she spoke of. Since nobody else spoke up first he felt that he might as well.“The name's John Maxwell, though I guess many of you already know that. Rumours travel fast in this town. I'm the guy who stepped off a bridge,” he said simply. “Let's get one thing straight, I didn't try to kill myself. I don't remember exactly what happened but I get the feeling that someone told me to step off of that bridge and that I couldn't say no. But with that said I don’t remember hitting the water either. So who knows.” “Anyway I woke up...different. Since that day it feels as though a part of me is missing. That it was replaced somehow. With what I have no idea,” he knew how crazy he must of sounded but there was no point stopping now. “As for what that did to me, I don't suppose anyone actually saw me go near cupcake girl,” he said before eating the last bite. “Telekinesis or whatever you want to call it,” he said, not entirely convinced that that was what it was. He decided not to mention about the dying plants, not yet anyway. "Pleased to meet you all."
Maxwell stared at the pencil, his eyes narrowed in concentration, his chin resting on the palm of his hand as he leaned on the arm of the chair. Nothing was happening. He was still not entirely convinced that anything should be happening. Perhaps he needed to be clearer with his intentions. Perhaps vagueness was a barrier to progress in a situation like this. He tried to clear his mind of additional thoughts and form a clear mental image of what he wanted to happen. Which had no visible effect that he was able to discern. He sighed to himself and sat upright, walking over to the window of the classroom and staring down at the yard. It was empty save for one of two people rushing toward the gate. At first he had been worried about practising in a public place like a classroom but as it turned out he needn't have worried. If anyone had seen him practising they had kept it to themselves, though it was far more likely that they just blanked it out from their minds. It must have a natural response to the unexplainable. He guessed that until recently he had been exactly the same, his mind closed off from the truth of the world. The truth of the world? The thought made him inwardly cringe at his own egotistical notion that he was now somehow special. Beyond his fellow humans. Now he was angry at himself. Better? Beyond? Then why did he feel so diminished as of late? Maxwell sighed again and shook his head, stuffing his hands deeply into his jacket pockets. He decided to try a slightly different approach. Behind him the sound of pencil on paper was suddenly audible. There was no point in turning around to confirm what he already knew to be true. The pencil was writing on the paper as if gripped by an invisible hand. He closed his eyes in thought. So it was not a matter of concentration but desire? In fact desire seemed far more important than the intention itself. And it got easier each time as well, more natural and that worried him. He had no idea why. He turned around and looked down at the paper. The invitation was still there next to the sheet of paper that he had been practising on. He stared at it in silence for a moment before deciding to give it a chance. In all honesty what was the worst that could happen? He walked past the desk and stuffed the invitation into his jacket pocket and pulled his hood up over his head as he walked out of the empty classroom. The pencil sat motionless on the desk. The potted plant on the teachers desk was dead and withered up. It had been alive when he had entered.

Maxwell found his way to the meeting point easily enough. It was dark and unpleasant looking. It lacked life. Or spirit. Or whatever it is that places come to lack over time when left to idle. Even with all the people already present it felt unwelcoming somehow. The lack of light made him a little more relaxed about the whole situation though. It felt appropriate somehow. “Charming,” he said more to himself than to anyone in particular. A cupcake had found its way into his hand despite him having not been anywhere near them. He took a bite and paused for a moment before carrying on chewing without comment. “So, what exactly do you want?” he said before taking another bite.
If I missed someone just give me a smack, tired after yesterday.
Chloe hummed as if in contemplative thought, once again walking in a overly exaggerated manner, her hands again clapped behind her back.“Oh, you know, whatever it is that they say we mages do in the black of the night,” Chloe replied to Dante with light hearted evasiveness. “Dancing naked under the moon, blood sacrifices, that kind of thing,” she said jokingly. She turned to face Nex as he approached her and looked at him with genuine confusion. He was apologising for his actions the previous day, that and anything that his master had said to her during their brief exchange. Chloe really wasn't sure why he was apologising though. Not about that stuff anyway. She waved a hand up and down in a conciliatory manner. “No no no, there's no need to apologise, I had absolutely no intention of actually touching that thing, even though you offered. I already have a master, I can't be apprenticed to two people at once, after all,” Chloe offered with slightly strained cheer. In truth the book had made her feel ill to look upon. Though this was by no means conclusive evidence she had a feeling that the nature of Nex's magic and her own was incompatible by nature. It had certainly been beyond her ability to influence or control the pages within the tome. But she didn't want to tell him that lest it cause some manner of offence, which made the fact that he had produced a necklace in reconciliation even more awkward. As a token of apology she could readily accept it but if it was an indication of other motives it would only foster misunderstanding. “I don...” she started to say but hesitated immediately and relented. “Fine, I accept your apology,” she said as she gingerly took the necklace from Nex. She looked at it for a moment before placing it into her backpack. The monkey had looked as though he had something to say as well but before she could raise the issue the most egocentric of the knightly trio made his move on her. It was her own fault so she had no right to complain. Chloe grinned playfully in response to Kendrick's proposition, neither embarrassed or affronted by his very forward suggestion. She just laughed in amusement as he took her hand in his own. The kiss was a cute gesture but it did little for her. “Well, aren’t you the charming one,” she said in mock surprise as she turned toward Salazar and smiled at him.
Sorry about lateness, had a busy day yesterday, I'll get a post up within the day.
Chloe was cut off in her stride by the sound of an unpleasantly familiar voice, causing her to slowly turn head toward the source with a momentarily tense look on her face. Her two admirers from yesterday had arrived. The dark mage and the monkey. The fact that Nex had taken her face was also more than a little disconcerting. Though she laughed at the sight her brow suggested a distinct lack of amusement.“Hehe, yeah, that's not creepy at all,” Chloe said more to herself than to Nex. The women called Cassie made her own entrance a moment later. She had an aura of natural confidence around her that made her presence known. But it was the object on her back that was making Chloe more than a little inwardly nervous. A cannon. It was not the technology itself per see that bothered her but it kind of suggested a specific preference toward blowing things up. And fire. Chloe felt a nervous tinge in her stomach that made her keep her distance. Which was why the arrival of Dante came as something of a relief. Chloe turned to face him and waved in greeting with a radiant smile on her face. “Dante. Oh, what's that you have there?” she asked rhetorically as she leaned in toward the gun that he was holding, his enthusiasm almost blinding compared to the lacklustre enthusiasm that she showed toward her own craft. “F-fire huh? That's...amazing, really,” Chloe said with a slightly nervous laugh as she stood up and backed off just a little.
