Sounds good to me, I've been looking for a good old style fantasy RP.

Fire, Air, Water, Earth.

My father told me about the time of the Avatar, a time of peace between men and spirits. Avatar Korra guided the Four Nations through war and strife, and along with her friends brought the world into balance for a new age of peace and prosperity. Then everything changed when the Spirit World was attacked.

Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could have stopped them, but when the world needed her most she perished. Twenty years have passed since then, and both worlds have been thrown into upheaval. Angry spirits rampage across the world, and terrible storms wrack the seas and coasts.

Many believe that the chaos in the spirit world has destroyed the Avatar, and that the cycle is broken. But there are those of us who have not lost hope that the Avatar will return and save the world.

AVATAR: LEGEND OF THE DARK AGE

The mission was simple: Break into the third most secure Future Industries facility, fight their way past the security bots and guards, and gather intelligence on their laboratory facilities and the illegal experiments they were supposedly conducting. According to their leader, who had elected to remain behind for the mission, this would be a step in breaking the deadlock and bringing the Fire Nation and Water Tribes to action against Future Industries.

The rebel fighters, shoved tightly into a dark, uncomfortable shipping container on a train heading for the facility, probably didn't see it quite so optimistically, but the ride was almost over, and the grand debut of the Stormcrows would soon begin. The train began to slow and stop, the sounds of the cars unloading beginning. It was time to go to work. The fighters braced themselves to open their container and begin the attack.

For revenge, for freedom.

Regarding the Avatar, I received a number of very good concepts for the Avatar, but in the end Mictlan93 gave me what I had to consider the best, and he will be playing the Avatar when s/he appears. As for the rest, if you have further questions contact me on here or on Skype, my username there is Corsair65. Hopefully most of you come, Skype makes coordination and questions so much simpler.
I would dispute that. Anyone who's played Perfect knows that Perfect is boring as all hell, and the idea of Elves as perfect is a rather flawed one. They aren't perfect in Tolkien, that's for damn sure. Evil, selfish, cruel Elves abound in Middle-Earth. They appear perfect in LotR because their major representatives are the two most noble members of their race - Elrond and Galadriel. Legolas comes across as an arrogant, racist dick who through the course of the story has his rough edges - edges placed there by his father's dickish nature - worn away.
Alright, I'm going to begin working on the OOC thread, I anticipate it going up on Monday. I'll also make my final decision on the Avatar's player then.
She took stock of the gropo Captain. His relaxed manner made her lips quirk into a a smile, and she decided that he wasn't so bad for a gropo. Not that she'd say that to him, inter-service rivalries being what they were. She was a pilot and he was a trooper and there were certain traditions that had to be followed, traditions that dated back to before Humanity had developed space travel. "Getting started early on those drinks you'll owe me, Cap?" She gave him a grin that was somewhere between friendly and smug, and held out a hand. "Major Katrina Eisenhauer, my boys call me Hurricane, but I bet you already knew that." She fell into step beside him.

"You're Warden Three, right?" She'd heard some spook stories about them back when she was with the Sabercats, the Wardens were supposedly the IA's assassins, nightmares created to be the best killers in the universe. Which, she figured, made them about equal. Sure, she was born in a womb instead of a tube and was pure talent and training instead of a gene-spliced murder machine, but he was a close second.

Sometimes Katrina wasn't sure where the ice-cold facade stopped and her ego started. Sometimes she liked it that way. "Shipboard bar always sucks though, Cap. I haven't had a decent scotch since my last squad had a layover on Delmoria."
Jia sighed to herself and pulled her phone back, sliding it back into her pocket. Aldenburg wasn't entirely wrong, the manor got horrible reception, but she'd take poor communications over easily intercepted communications any day, and the Owl Problem was still a problem even if no one had sent it. "Your reliance on the Fidelius charm will be our undoing, Aldenburg. He Who Must Not Be Named knows elements of magic that you and I have never even dreamed of, and has access to every horror and wonder they ever concealed within the Department of Mysteries. Secrecy is a far greater tool for our defense than any charm. The Death Eaters breached Grimmauld Place," She paused a moment, images of that terrible battle momentarily flashing through her mind. "Which had every protection as this base and more, wards raised by Dumbledore himself."

She held up a hand to forestall his retort. "But more importantly, I assume -nothing-, Aldenburg. I intend to take every precaution imaginable with this meeting, but the possibility of gaining an agent within the Death Eaters is one we cannot pass up. Unless you plan to offer your services to the Dark Lord - an approach I doubt would have much success - we have no other possibilities for gaining an operative."

Jia paused a moment, drawing her wand and tapping it into her glass. "Aguamenti." She took a quick drink, then continued. "There are a number of boltholes I have arranged around Britain that we can use for interrogating this Death Eater. They're under the basic array of wards. I go in wand drawn, order the Death Eater to submit to a full-body bind, and then I'll apparate him to my apartment in Glasgow for a proper interrogation. If he doesn't cooperate I'll kill him." She paused a moment. "All in favor of exploiting this opportunity rather than letting it pass us by?" She raised a hand.
Because the Dwarven archetype is a dull one, only really well suited to being comic relief, and if you move too far outside that archetype you're not playing a Dwarf, you're playing a dwarf, as in midget.
Alright, I'm going to give this until Tuesday, then we will begin. New character applications will remain open until the end of the prologue or until we get nine players plus the GM, whichever happens first.

AVATAR: LEGEND OF THE DARK AGE

* * * * *

Thank you for taking interest in this thread. I will expound a bit upon the above opening: This roleplay takes place roughly 150 years after the events of The Legend of Korra, during a new age of Cold War between the United Republic and Future Industries and the Four Nations. An invasion of the Spirit World by Future Industries and the subsequent mining of it for valuable and rare resources has thrown both worlds into upheaval, driving the Spirits mad with rage and causing terrible geological effects wrack the Earth. Worse, Avatar Korra, now old and alone, was slain in the opening battles of the invasion, crippling the invading force with her last efforts.

Now, twenty years after the death of the Avatar the time has come and gone for a new Avatar to arise and restore the balance, but none has appeared. Future Industries has become the dominant power in the world, directly controlling the United Republic of Nations and wielding vast power of its own. With their power has come a new age of technology, from wireless communications and firearms to computers and internet. Jet aircraft, rocketry, cybernetics, spirit power, satellites, all are facts of life. Whispers speak of experiments in Future Industries laboratories that push these boundaries, life created and people cloned, beings engineered to have new capabilities, and more.

To put this into a simple sentence, this is Avatar in a Cyberpunk setting.

I intend to have a more in-depth opening post when I open the thread up. In the meantime there is one concern I need to address - The Avatar. The Avatar will be a major character within this roleplay, and for reasons that are likely rather obvious I do not want to play the Avatar myself. To that end those of you who are interested who wish to play the Avatar please PM me your interest.
