The smile on Barbara's' face became a little fixed when Stephanie answered the door. It wasn't that she didn't like Stephanie - Stephanie was a good kid, and she was a refreshing change from the usual doom, gloom, and brooding that was apparently an essential part of the Bat-Family Men's breakfast. No, just that little reminder that she, like Dick, and Jason, and Tim before her, had been replaced. Sometimes she saw where Dick was coming from with his anger at the old man. But nobody played against Barbara Gordon in poker, so her momentary disquiet at the twin reminders of replacement and loss was immediately buried under a broad, friendly smile. "Stephanie, hey." She rolled forward over the threshold, beginning to shed her winter gear as she did so. She hadn't gone for an especially formal getup - getting dressed was like getting teeth pulled sometimes, and she was damned if she was going to let Dick dress her - just simple black slacks and a long, gray shirt. She didn't wear skirts or dresses much anymore anyway, her legs were...not something anyone wanted to see. Her least of all. Her smile widened as Tim entered the room, noting his rather odd behavior towards Stephanie. *Right. Robin and Batgirl...I wonder if Jason and Cass...oh, ugh. No, please.* She felt a touch of humor, but suppressed it. "Tim, how've you been? You look well."
Ah, good. I hope we don't need to fly anywhere, or Batwing is gonna get real confusing. "To the Batwing!" "Uh, I'm right here."
If we could work out the kinks I would he stoked to have Terry show up.
I recommend Terry McGinnis, for maximum confusion.
Barbara resisted the urge to roll her eyes or let out an exasperated sigh. "Dick," Barbara had a way of saying it that made it ambiguous if she was saying his name or calling him one, "Ley's just try to be polite and not have another father/son shouting match." For her part she was gratified to just be able to move easily, most of Gotham had wheelchair access right out of the 70s. The 1870s, to be precise. "If Bruce gets under your skin, just go find Tim, you can bond over how annoyed he makes you." She tempered her rebuke with a smile and leaned up and forward to hit the doorbell.
Barbara is playing Oracle super close to the vest, the only person who knows for certain is Bruce, and him only because he essentially guided her into it. She's not entirely sure herself why she's keeping it from everyone. Part of it is paranoia, and there's an element of escapism to it - no one treats Oracle like a helpless cripple, they fear her, respect her, like she used to be treated as Batgirl.
Barbara loves him. He is, yknow, her Dad. No real qualifiers to put on that sentiment, I don't think they have a terribly complicated relationship. I imagine he does not know that she was Batgirl, but Batgirl disappearing right after she was crippled might have opened the possibility to him.
Put up Barbara's opinions of the other characters, with the exception of Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain, haven't quite worked that out yet.
Absolutely make Gordon. He's probably the only man who can punch Batman with impunity.
Edited in Lily's backstory. I figure the deal with the book in the catacombs will just end up being an unrelated other issue, much like any other mystery her backstory might raise. I do that.
