Thaum: Group B

Syed had managed to create an impressive barricade against the now raging Mother Firon, and it seemed for a moment that their little group was safe- Until Aria spotted the giant skeleton looming overhead, sword once again raised and poised to strike at any moment.

The narrow alleyway provided no possible covers for the group, and the only way they could conceivably escape to was the exit of the alleyway. Aria looked up, noting with a start that that despite the many twists and turns that the alleys that Atlas had led them through, they were now closer to the tower than ever, the entrance a short sprint away from the mouth of the alley.

A quick glance showed that all of her fellow guilders were very much fatigued and weren’t going to be able to run much further- Syed was hunched over beside the brick wall of the alley still looking rather sick while everyone else, including her, were gasping for breath.

“Just a little more,” she frantically urged the group to keep moving. “we’re too close to give up now!” The skeleton rattled, sword now raised at its highest and about to slam down into the alleyway. “Hurry!”
Wow, I didn't realize I was so behind in posts x - o I'll definitely try to pick up the slack-

Thaum: Group B

“I don’t think we have enough time to try to cut them down,” Aria fretted, warily eyeing the thrashing steel pipes and metal wires. They blocked the street and she had no doubt that if they got too close the pipes would crush them, and yet the giant skeleton and Firon were gaining rapidly, having recovered from their little tumble which only seemed to have angered them though the skeleton did look a little charred.

She hastily scanned the area, frowning when she spotted an alleyway to the side that seemed innocuous enough. To be fair, it was swaying along with the rest of the building but it hadn’t grown teeth yet, nor exhibiting any sign that it was out to murder them.

Yet.

They didn’t have much of a choice though, and Aria quickly shouted to the others.

“It’s a risk, but let’s move into the alleys! They should wind all over Thaum even if the streets are shuffling, and even if they don’t it’ll at least put distance between us and those two!”

SCREAMS YO PACH HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU WONDERFUL PERSON

*throws presents at your face*

HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAAY /o/

Thaum…?

Weapons? Aria thought over Atlas’ suggestion. Weapons could be handy, but…

“Weapons won’t be much use if we can’t get close to them, and we’ll only be weighed down!” As on cue, a building exploded behind them. “I think we should just focus on running.”

She looked back to where Moira, Syed and Lisette were. They were all still fortunately unharmed, but Moira seemed to be having trouble and was starting to lag behind. The skeleton swung down its sword, crushing a nearby building as its rubble rained down.

Gritting her teeth, Aria screeched to a halt and turned back to face the direction of where the Firon was rapidly approaching heir group. She didn’t like taking this risk, but the two monsters were gaining on them quickly and she had to at least try to slow them down.

“Keep running! I’m going to see if I can’t slow them down for a moment!”

As soon as the Firon was in range, she focused her efforts on erasing their group’s presence while replacing it with an illusion of them veering away and running towards the skeleton instead. Luckily for her, the illusion worked and the Firon bounded in the direction of the giant skeleton, pouncing at the illusion only to slam into the legs of skeleton that had raised its sword again, sending it toppling to the ground. It wouldn’t hold the two off for very long- Already the Firon was escaping the tangle of bones while the skeleton rattled angrily, but it would buy some valuable time for them. Breaking off the illusion, Aria sprinted after the others towards the dark tower in the distance, feeling relieved that her plan had worked.

Abigail?

Aria cringed, shrinking back before realizing that the voice wasn’t the screechy, condescending tone of the voice in her head. She looked up, only to spot Atlas. The burning buildings of her home had sometime melted into the dense fog of Thaum without her noticing. Had it- had it all been a dream? Nobody was dead because of her and her friends hadn’t left her?

Aria’s quivering subsided slightly as she got to her feet, following after Atlas and towards the figures of Moira, Syed and Lisette. She couldn’t help but cringe as the memory of their scornful voices echoed in her ears but managed to suppress the paranoia that they would all suddenly start screaming once more and that she hadn’t woken from the nightmare just yet.

A small wave of relief washed over her when she was close enough to see their faces that lacked the cold glares they sported in her dream, but rather looked just as confused and shaken up as she was.

Before they had time for proper greetings, the ground started to rumble before a collection of building were thrown from a distance, crashing too close to comfort from the group. Aria bit back a shriek and gripped onto her weapons tightly, gaping up at the giant skeleton that had appeared so suddenly without warning.

“You have got to be shitting me…”

Just as the skeleton raised its sword, Aria gave a quick glance back at where Moira was only to meep faintly at the giant Firon snarling down at them. What on Ddeaer were these monsters and where had they come from?

Seeing how Syed had tripped onto the ground, she quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him aside as the giant skeleton swung down it’s blade, sharpened bone smashing into the pavement and sending chunks of rock flying. There was no way they could take down both the skeleton and the flaming wolf behind them – they would have more than enough on their hands just facing one! The Firon perhaps she could distract with an illusion, but even then she wasn’t sure how long she could keep hold with the giant skeleton attacking them at the same time.

Should they fight? Should they run? She suddenly cringed, shaking hand tightening around Syed’s arm as she remembered the screeching voice asking the same question in her dreams. If they made the wrong decision, would they all die? The skeleton yanked its sword out of the rubble, bringing it back above its head for another swing as Aria panicked.

"W-we... We can't win this! We need to- We should... What should we do?!"
