I know the canon transformations don't change the hairstyle, but I just really like the idea of her hair seeming kind of feathery when she transforms, as opposed to limp and soft like it was before

Also her cape is made of feathers, and acts as a shield. When she uses her power, feathers fly out of the cape and attach themselves to her allies, to stop their timer (or restore it back to 0) so that they can use their power again. When the power is used, the feather vanishes.
If we need to, I can put a limit on how many feathers she can attach to her allies, it's already just one each but maybe how many allies she chooses? Idk

Ok so I have a general sketch of her design, sort of the idea stage if you will. I settled on Sparrow, and have the general sketch of her regular outfit and her hero one. Kind of a large image, so I put it under a hider
It's not going to be her hero outfit yet, but I am erring more on the side of the sparrow as a quick google image search only really shows one sparrow kwami design while the crane has more lol

To be fair, a canon Kwami is a dragon, but I'll take this one in stride lol

But maybe a pheonix? A bird of legend, per say. Have fire-type powers (which is going to be a drastic shift from what I'm used to) or a support based power I'd already thought up for her.

That was the original ability I had for her, which would also go along with the rebirth line of Pheonix's.

I'm trying to think of creatures in America. I want a winged one, but something more like a bird bc it represents freedom. But it should also be a creature that hides a lot.
