They say that long ago it was the mystical forces of magick that had led the world to ruin, the subjugating power tearing the old world to shreds as the sovereigns of the land pit their armies against each other to control the raw might of a single being. That being was a scared child, imbued with power foreign to her and forced to watch the bloodbath of conflict all centered around her. In the tales it is told that an unwitting boy happened upon her, teaching her how to trust, care, and love. In the end, that boy would sacrifice himself to save her, expelling the magick inside her and in turn destroying the old world, purging the cruel world of all but few. The girl was alone, left to wander the broken world until fate came for her, too.
Most assume this is only a myth, a child's tale told to warn the consequences of power, but there is no denying that something powerful came along and razed the old world. Whether it really was magick, or some cataclystic weapon, there is only one thing that really triggered the downfall of the old world. Mankind.
"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war."-Douglas MacArthur
Whispers of the Truth is a post apocalyptic roleplay set 600 years after a cataclysmic event wiped out all but a fraction of the human race. It's a rather dark roleplay centered around the new world of Myzai. A bloody war is occuring between the tyrannous empire of ruling over the land and the Crimson Gales, rebels who fight to overthrow the dictatorship of the land. Meanwhile, rumors of mystical artifacts from the old world have began to surface, prompting both sides to start investigations. The Crimson Gales believe that they have found the location of this so called artifact, and spies have already relayed the information to the king. It won't be long until a bloody conflict unfolds over the powers of the old world.
Specifically, the roleplay will be based around a new regiment of recruits for The Crimson Gales. It will detail their journey, starting from basic training to all out war as the supposed power that razed the old world is slowly uncovered. The recruits will go from children ignorant of the horrors or war, to battle-torn survivors of conflict based upon power.
Are the Crimson Gales really the righteous freedom fighters that they're made out to be or are they just pawns in a struggle for the ultimate power? Will mankind bring about the same end that occured to the residents of the old world?
"In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies."-Winston Churchill
Information:
Few remained after the destruction of the old world, barely a fraction of the once populous human race. The unforgiving land around them wasn't kind to them, and within weeks many had killed by hunger, dehydration, unfriendly climate, and the beasts of the land. The survivors that fought through all of the hardships and never came up came out stronger than before, adapted to the cruel land around them. Slowly but surely, humanity made its comeback, building up small villages and banding together to survive. The Myzai empire formed around 450 years after the destruction of the Old World, but it wasn't until the year 500 did it begin to grow powerful. The Myzai Empire now has almost complete control of all of Myzai, anyone within its land who rebels is soon tortured, and either executed or sent to become a slave.
The Myzai Empire is ruled by the sole sovereign, King Augustus of Rinn. He reigns over the land with an iron fist, keeping all but the nobles in an oppressive hold. Slavery is normal among the nobles, and anyone caught in the wrong place at the wrong time will quickly find themselves stripped of their freedom. Life in the ghettos is dangerous, numerous crimes from stealing to murder is commonplace due to the lack of an authoritive policing system in the lower social classes. The nobles have every commodity provided for them, often being gluttonous, controllative pigs. Many of them don't even know that the world their life is based above is wrong. Currently, the Myzai Empire is searching for the artifact of The Old World, to make their reign over the land unquestionable. The city where the empire is based is Rinn, which is at the dead center of the land.
Often simply referred to as The Gales, they're the leading rebel group of the land. Formed by a group of escaped slaves, they hideout somewhere in the east, leading skirmishes and gaining power and influence. Though they're not as properly supplied as the Empire, they nearly match the Empire in size and make up for what they lack in pure passion. The Crimson Gales may have a more suspicious side to their leadership, one that lusts for power and control.
There is only one known landmass in the world, Myzai. It has a roughly circular shape formation. Rinn, the central castle town of the Myzai Empire, lies dead in the middle of the land. The Crimson Gales are situated in the south, a in a place known to the Empire but they have yet mustered the power to completely destroy them.
Rinn is a town with a castle straight in the center which is the household of royalty. The households centered around the castle are all of nobility. Beyond the nobility sections is where the ghettos are, where anyone below nobility resides and struggle on a daily basis.
In the land of Myzai, there is no such thing as television, cell phones, the internet, computers, or anything of that such. Automatic weapons are wide-spread, along with cars, tanks, and aeroplanes.
