Well... so far, I think you'd get more mileage of your character if you made them with 5e rules. Energy Blast is like Eldritch Blast in damage, however it's stronger than it would be for a Warlock your level given that you add Charisma to damage but at the same time it's weaker since you can only use it once per combat. If you want a pet using Warlock, you could go with Pact of the Chain come level 3 and before that you can have your friend already by getting the Ritual Caster Feat or some other means of getting Find Familiar and then waiting until level 3 for them to be improved. I dunno, it just seems like it may be troublesome for you and the GM in the future as your character progresses and you try to make a character progression meant for 3.5th or 4th edition work on 5th.

"Peace, good men. In the name in Pelor Light Bringer, Dol Arrah Keeper of Honor and Tyr Guardian of Justice, please heed my words. We mean you all no harm" goes Alexia, lifting one hand gently, palm directed at the men as her other hand easily traces in the air the symbols of the Gods she mentions "We're travelers from beyond the borders of your lands of The Morgues. Though our motives vary, we're joined in common purpose to try and bring assistance, protection and succor from the darkness we've heard plagues this noble land. For this, we'd be grateful if you can tell us more of what is happening around these parts and show us around the hold"
Uhhh Eidolon Warlock? I think that's not a 5e Path.
Let us move on!
Well, she knows she's only a novice and of course she doesn't think she can do a bit of damage to a Dark God... however, she's a demon hunter and has vowed to dedicate her life to bringing the Light and destroying the darkness however she may. It's her life's calling and while she can only do a little, she'll do what's her due to undo evil.

As for the independent part, well it's something I liked about 5e Paladins... their power doesn't necessarily come from the worship of a specific deity, instead it's drawn from their Oath and their conviction and dedication to a good cause.
Unless the game and situation goes in a way disastrous direction, Alexia doesn't mind angering the Dark Gods... indeed, it's her sworn mission to foil everything they stand for after all!

And yes, Alexia cares for the Goodly Gods and pays them and the Church respect, but the source of her power, when she finally makes her vows, will come from her own convictions and the strength of her spirit, so it's important that her Holy Symbol be something she made herself and represents her views and the things she draws strength out of instead of simply the representation of a single, specific God.
Oh, I was wondering if we were going for one of the D&D pantheons in particular since there is the Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Eberron and Greyhawk ones... Hmm though if we're going for all of them, Alexia will definitely worship multiple good deities of protection and light. Her Holy Symbol will likely be a customized pendant of her creation not dedicated to one specific Deity but burrowing elements of the Godly ones. Thinking a perfectly round pendant with a sun motif and an eye in the middle of it. The names of various Gods written in runes behind it.
Oh, I forgot to ask which Pantheon we're going with for Gods.
Likewise, posted!

Alexia was glad to put boots to the ground, her light violet eyes looking upon the silent visage of the entrance to Mother Terrea from underneath her dark hood. The young elven blooded woman stood resolute upon the apparent peace and dread of the locale, hearing at the distance the toll of bells signalling the call of the faithful to gather. It did her heart well to hear them... if there was still someone to sound them, then faith and hope shouldn't be dead upon this place. She knew there was a community here... however, to hear the rumors of the cursed land one would think the land devoid of life that wasn't plagued with misery and darkness.

Picking up her pack and putting it on over her dark cloak, over the shield she hid underneath on her back, the blade hanging by the belt at her waist and the crossbow strapped to it, the young Demon Hunter took her silvery holy symbol... a physical representation of both her faith and confidence and let out a short prayer to begin her work. Though she carried herself methodically and confidently, this was to be her biggest work yet... only a little time had passed since she had finished her instructions by the death of her teacher. There were many lessons she had yet to acquire... however, her training had been completed before the fateful separation. She knew the words of the vows, of the sacred tongues and the sinful one of devils, she had trained her body and mind, honed both for what was to be her work... trained in the use of all weapons and armors. She still didn't couldn't wield the sacred power of the spirit, the magic borne out of conviction and cause, though she had been introduced to the rites, knew the way to such power even if she was still an acolyte of it. Already could she heal wounds and sickness, even if in a limited manner, and she could also sense the supernatural... feel their presence upon the mortal world. That would have to suffice for now... she had to trust that when the time came she'd find the strength for more if it was needed of her.

Thus ready to part she let go of the silvery holy symbol, letting it hang from her neck as she looked at the men and women around her... few had been their words during the travel, however they all understood their common purpose here. For one reason or another they were a group of capable individuals who meant to understand and fight the taint gripping this community. In that, they were kindred. Focusing her eyes once again ahead, towards the Church and the populace they'd find there the young woman spoke up in a cool, soft spoken though clear tone "Alexia Sindarin Calbridge... Demon Hunter. I concur... the Church and the people within are a good place to start" she says before starting to step towards it.
