I think I've found the right humour level for this forum. Brutal stabbings = OK, drug references = not OK. Good to know.

I have come to another conclusion: If someone survives the first lot of stabbings, stab them again because you really don't need a witness to your attempted murder.

Name: Self-explanatory Age: Vault Hunters can be litterally any age; Gaige from BL2 was 18 for example. Appearance: See 'Name.' Gender: Non-standard is fine. Surviving Weapon: Only one weapon the VH's came down with survived the crash-landing. What company made it and what kind of weapon is it? Skill: For this roleplay, only the first unlockable skill is counted. No levelling up. Skills can be anything from digi-structing a minigun to a particularly powerful siren ability. Siren: First come-first serve. PM me as to what you want your abilities to be. Melee weapon: Axe? Hammer? Crowbar? Digi-structible claws? Go nuts! Specialisation: What's your character good at? Was xhi an engineer? Trained soldier? Musician?
Name: Jaek Age: 25 Appearence: Jaek is just a few inches shy of six foot and slim-built, although his figure packs plenty of muscle. He has long brown bangs that occasionally obscure his vision, and the bangs are dyed bright red. He wears a tight-fitting jacket open at the middle, showing a plain white shirt and has a bondlier full of shotgun shells strapped diagonally from shoulder-to-waist, along with another one running around his waist like a belt. He wears loose-fitting jeans and boots that are slightly-higher than his ankles, and his shotgun is attached vertically to his back. Gender: Male Surviving Weapon: A Jakobs shock shotgun capable of holding 4 rounds. Skill: Lock 'n Load: Jakobs somehow hooks his bondlier up to his shotgun, allowing him to fire without reloading until the bondlier falls out. Siren: No Melee Weapon: A large, digi-structed warhammer that he has to hold with two hands. Specialisation: Electrical Engineering.
This is perfect. I only really wanted a small group like in-game, so if you guys don't mind I'll be making the character creation sheets and putting it up.
You all know Borderlands. Crazy guns being used by crazier people in order to get ridiculous payoffs from being that should honestly not be able to be controlled with a hunk of eridium-charged whatever.
The idea is that this RP takes place a good few hundred years after BL2. The old sirens are all dead, so an indeterminate amount remain in the universe, however because reasons only one siren character will be allowed in the roleplay.
The Backstory
"Pandora was controlled by Hyperion Corporation, Hesios is Dahl property, and Dahl is getting worked up. Supposedly there's another vault down in the depths of Hesios, and it's causing Hunters to flock to the largely lawful planet like moths to a flame. What was once a relatively peaceful industrial planet is being turned into an urban warzone as everyone tries to grab the four key shards.
Oh yeah, there's four of them. See, Dahl has known about the vault for a while, and was trying to get to it secretly. They knew what happened with Pandora and didn't want Vault Hunters and the other crazies coming, so they disguised the drill earthquakes as mining tremors for promethius, yes, the fuel, and searched for the key quietly. When they found the key, they shattered it into four separate parts and placed each part into the Dahl continental offices, which are built like fortresses at this point.
Unfortunately for Dahl however, they didn't expect a lot of crazies backed by Tourge and Tediore to start breaking everything open, and now Dahl only has two key fragments. One is securely in the hands of Maliwan.Inc, and the other is owned by a group of crazies hiding out in what used to be the planet's largest cities."
So, where do you come into play?
The RP
Everyone in Hesios has been bought off by the weapons manufacturers. For the most part, Maliwan controls one of the key fragments and most of the planet's tropical regions, Tediore has full control of the artic zones, Dahl has general control over the urban areas and Tourge is encroaching on all of them. After the death of Handsome Jack in BL2, pretty much any power that Hyperion had was wrested from them, leading them to control only a few island on the fringes of the area. Vladorf has chosen not to get involved, as they reason that waiting until one person has all of the key fragments, then swooping in like a vulture and stealing it is a better course of action. Because of this, Vladorf guns are basically non-existent as well.
You, are a new Vault Hunter into all of this mess. You lose most of your gear after a shaky landing (by which I mean that Tourge wiped out half of the drop ships and nearly destroyed yours,) and you've landed right in the middle of Run, the new capital of Hesios, currently under attack by literally every major and minor faction and currently the location where the largest key fragment is, which is owned by Dahl. For now.
I'd love a Pre-Fallout 1 role played. Just before the factions we know and love start gaining real traction, but long enough for the wasteland to be truly established.
This is an RP i've wanted to do for quite a long while, and nobody has really taken the bait before, so here's hoping it goes down better over here.
The Setting
This RP takes place after a thermoballistic war has taken place between most global powers. As per international law, no nuclear weapons were fired, however governments had long been experimenting with alternatives, so 'conventional' Hellbringer and Brimstone firestorm missiles were fired, which delivered a payload of what amounted to atomized gasoline which exploded over a large region, causing an immense explosion and widespread fires. These weapons were never classified as illegal chemical weapons, so large amounts were fired, causing vast amounts of pollutants to be thrown up into the atmosphere, leading to the dawning of a nuclear war in all but radiation.
The character you play as is either one of the survivors of the event, or a post Baptism child living inside the city of Cambridge, England. The city was never directly targeted in favour for military targets and larger cities like London, Newcastle, Birmingham and the like, although indirect scatter and anarchy in the early days post-Baptism did lead to moderate damage in the city. Eventually basic electricity was re-established, although it is sold at great expensive by the few who are wealthy enough to either purchase the gasoline needed for generators, or capable of reparing renewable energy sources. None of the player characters are at this level of wealth, so all electricity must be either bought or stolen from those with it at great risk.
Because of the relative light damage, much of the knowledge stored inside the universities was kept, and Cambridge has established itself as the center of learning and re-claimed technology in all of England, leading to a population boom as scholars, soldiers, salesmen and hookers all came to ply their trade and make as much money as they can in this new 'technology rush.' Your character is caught in the center of this, and xhi's job is to end up on top. The wheels of boom-and-bust is turning in Cambridge, so will you hop on the wagon, or be crushed beneath the wheels?
The character application is below. Note that character death is very possible and very likely, so be prepared to make new characters if you plan on staying for any long period of time!
Name: Self-explanatory. Most of the names used pre-war have stuck around, although there are a few new ones that have started to shape post-Baptism. Due to the newness of these names however, any character actually within an appropriate age range would have a pre-Baptism name.
Age: The war happened twenty-three years before the events of the RP have occurred, so both characters from the new and old world are possible, although note that characters should be appropriate ages. No teenagers being mercs or loremasaters please.
Gender: Again, self explanatory. If you want to create a character who does not identify as the gender xhi was born as, that's perfectly fine, although note that characters born post-war will not have had the chance to have any gender-altering surgery for obvious reasons.
Appearance: What does your character look like? How tall is xhi? How heavy is xhi? Checking a BMI index so you have an appropriate body type is always a good idea. What's xhi's hair colour? Eye colour? How does he have xhis hair done? What is xhi wearing at the start of the RP? Just some thoughts to start you off on this.
Skills: What's your character good at? This should tie into your class (more below on classes,) but generally you should be aware of these things: 1. Characters need to have appropriate skills. A character who is supposed to be a loremaster will not be dumb as rocks, and a leper is not going to be the most charismatic of people. Please keep this in mind. 2. Characters should not be overly reliant in one field. Unless the entire point of their character is to be cripplingly overspecialized in one field, a decent spread is needed.
Classes: The biggest part of your character. Essentially what they do to earn a living in the ruins of the old world.
Couriers: The messengers of the new world. If you've ever seen the film the Postman, (or read the book) these guys are similar, minus the 'reformed government' and ridiculous fraud. Note that small amounts of gasoline are being produced, so fuel-efficient cars and small motorbikes are used by couriers, however they predominantly get around by horse or foot. They're well experienced to the devastation that lies outside the city boundaries, and deliver messages to the scattered communities that have sprung up near the few surviving cities.
Mercenaries: Mostly old world survivors, these tend to be people with official military or law enforcement training, who have used the new world as an excuse to exercise their skills. Often found working for whoever can pay them the most, they tend to be well armed and armored, and are unlikely to do anything if a little cash isn't involved.
Apostles: Religious followers from all walks of life who preach their faith to those who miss the old world. Predominantly Christian and Muslim, they often travel with couriers to outer settlements to spread their faith, normally with a small and dedicated following that comes along with them. Almost always well armored, although rarely armed with any more than a lead pipe. Note that radical sects of a new religion that believes the Baptism was a 'cleansing' has slowly begun to gain traction, especially among lepers and other fire-touched.
Scavengers/Loremasters: Those dedicated to digging through the rubble left behind in order to scrape a living. Scavengers tend to focus on physical objects, venturing into abandoned buildings and digging through piles of rubble in order to find a working laptop or relatively undamaged speaker to patch up and sell off. Scavengers tend to have at least a basic mechanical and electrical repair knowledge, as well as being physically fit. Often however, they pick up worthless items and leave behind the expensive gear, especially younger and less experienced ones. Loremasters tend to say inside offices and focus on breaking through firewalls, deciphering parts of languages lost in the baptism or recovering data from broken-down memory cards. Generally loremasters have expertise in either robotics, biomechanics, engineering, explosive engineering and the like, and scholars will often consult them.
Scholars: The true researchers of the new world, they focus on recovering as much lost knowledge from loremasters and scavengers and furthering their information of the world around them. In the old world, these would be people studying for higher learning degrees, although in general Scholars have dedicated their lives to their research. If you make a scholar, then please tell us your specific field of expertise. Are you an Astrophysicist? A microbiologist? A linguist? Note that 'hands on' research such as robotics tend to be done by loremasters, as they come into more contact with raw materials for researching in those subjects.
Lepers: Not a class per-say, these are fire-touched. Anybody who was badly burned in tbe baptism but survived tended to be shunned post-Baptism as people tried to move on from the disaster and move on. These are walking, living reminders that the world they live in was humanities' fault, and are hated for this.
Other: Any other job, ranging from a shopkeeper to a prostitute falls into this category.
Last thing, this is a world where it is ball-freezingly cold. Snow and ice is everywhere, and everything that can be burnt is burnt, salvaged from the ashes, burnt again, then clumped together in an ash brick and burned again just to make sure every drop of heat is extracted from it.
I'm a DM for my local group and have been forum RPing for a little while now, most specifically on SOTF and on off-topic sections of other forums. I do have some ideas for some roleplays, and I might start an interest thread in a little bit once i'm a bit more acclimatized to the atmosphere.
