"It does match the legend well but." Liz took a break to eat a handful of snacks "They tried drowning other members of my family before and its never worked and they tried again after they succeeded with me and failed again." She looked up "It seems some divine spirit is really picky over who it saves if its really what is saving us." She finished and ate a few more snacks "Yeah but anyway thats the story of how I got the ability."
Liz shrugged "I could use some food thanks." The girl responded before continuing her story "The first time I ever used it is something I wish I could forget. It was probably 4 or 5 years by now. Its funny... back then I could use all the 4 main elemental spells but I always had an affinity for water magic. That is why they thought it would work, they recreated the legend." Liz paused "And that is what they did, one night in my sleep without warning I was tied up and thrown into the ocean, it was a fun way to wake up for sure but next thing I remember is hearing a voice and then being able to use that magic." She finished her explanation "I hope that suffices as an answer to your question."
I think Liz's is a bit high, probably low teens would be a bit more accurate.
"The first recorded instance?" Liz asked in thought "I don't know off the top of my had sorry. However, I do know the legend of how the first person got the ability if that will be any use." The girl paused for breath "Well, legend goes our family used to live away from society on an island, living at one with nature and all that rubbish. But, one day one of my past relatives was swimming in the ocean when he was knocked unconscious and drowned. However, while he was drowning he said he dreamt about meeting a fairy who told him she would use her magic to save him and when he arrived back on the island he had the water body and from then on descendants of that man could also turn into water." Liz finally finished her story "But yeah, thats all I know about it really."
Liz nodded "I understand, I don't really have a workshop but I am pretty sure I understand." She shrugged and once she had finished sealing the part of her room she walked in slowly "Wow, so this is what our dorms look like? This is quite a nice room." Liz smiled back to Meruin and took a seat on a chair "So what do you want to know first? Want to see the transformation or know how its done or something else?"
Liz nodded "That would be nice, hopefully our rooms are close though so I do not have to spend too much time looking for it." She picked up her travel bags and followed closely behind the girl being careful to block or avoid any stray magic attacks but it seems the two pair of fighters were too focused on their own individual fights to even notice that the two of them were leaving.
Liz smiled happily and tackled Meruin hugging her "Great! Lets go!" she said happily letting go of her hug "Oh sorry, we cant go if I am hugging you can we." The girl spoke picking up her bag "Also if you want me to make you some food when at your place then just say. And if you need someone to remind you about getting dressed while you are there." Liz added as she waited for Meruin to lead the way.
Liz looked interested "I have not found my room yet but I can do that later tonight I guess." She shrugged and stood up "I would love to see your room and go there if you want. I don't think this battle royal will be stopping any time soon." She chuckled and helped the girl up to her feet "Shall we be going then friend?" Liz spoke feeling a bit embarrassed about using those words but she needed to know where she stood with Meruin.
Liz looked over at Meruin chuckling at her a bit "You would make a great strategist to any team if not being a bit more absent minded then most people but guess it makes you quirky." She chuckled "Well if you want to see more of my ability and a bit of knowledge about my past to learn more then I would be happy to tell you, but somewhere a bit quieter. Is there a library we can go to or something?"
Patience is a virtue.
