Abh

Name of Nation: Eight World's Empire

Species: Abh


Abh breath an oxygen atmosphere, though their tolerance for lower concentrations is much higher than that of a human's. They also have much fewer toxic gases. Interestingly, a Abh can drink and eat everything humans do, although they have a cultural preference towards water and wine when drinking. Their food is very much reminiscent of what we would consider Asian today. This is a species-wide phenomenon, implying a very early point of "unification". Their language is known as "Sānshingenō".

One of the major oddities of the Abh is their natural ability to interface with computer systems, an ability that has been used since the very first digital computers. They were found to be capable of interfacing with the computers found in ancient ruins as well, which have the same basic structure as Abh computer systems. Attempts have been made at interfacing with the computers of the hostile alien race, but no success has been found, with the subject's brain rejecting the computers. This ability to interface with ancient computers is completely unexplained, but is widely believed to be a simple fluke of nature. There are those who believe that it was intentional modification, but there is no experimental proof of this, with no markers in Abh DNA showing any sign of genetic tampering.

Homeworld: Shōrino'ba, sixth planet of the Tsutā System.

Description of Military: The Abh Military is split up into four branches: The Imperial Spaceborne Navy (ISN), the Imperial Airborne Defense Forces (IADF), the Imperial Oceangoing Defense Navy (IODN), and the Imperial Planetbound Defense Army (IPDA).

Imperial Spaceborn Navy Craft:

-Doraic-Class, a vessel built to transport ground and air forces, this class is also equipped with extensive scanning and electronic warfare equipment. It was named for Doraic Ssynec Ymer Spainaic, the lead scientist in the first Sūkaiisutshō Expedition. It is equipped mainly with plasma launcher weapons for defense, which makes it excellent for point defense. There are multiple variations, one of which (the Doraic-B) carries Semurr-Class spaceborne fighter-bombers.


-Kaguya-Class Bombardment Vessel, a starship class designed for long-range bombardment of enemy forces and planets. Though it's primary use is bombardment, it is often seen taking point in a close-range battle due to it's extensive missile capabilities. The four large prongs are railguns, which can fire either dumb tungsten slugs, dumb bombs, or guided missiles. It is named for a myth believed to be more ancient than the Abh themselves.


-Ryouta-Class Battleship, one of the more common vessels on the battlefield. As one might expect, this class is built for the sole purpose of causing as much damage to the enemy as possible. It has two railguns, which are fully capable of providing bombardment support, but it truly shines in the middle of battle. Hidden within it's hull are multiple antiproton streamers (weapons which fire streams of antiprotons), which are extremely effective at close to middle ranges, though they are most certainly non-trivial even at long ranges. They are especially good at shredding though enemy armor. This class is also named for a prehistoric myth.


-Guyoka-Class Destroyer, a ship class deployed in large numbers and used to swarm the enemy. They are armed with four plasma launchers as point defense (though they are effective as ship-to-ship weapons as well). Their main armament is their spinal antiproton weapon, which fires pulses of antiprotons straight forward. This weapon, combined with their maneuverability, makes them extremely formidable against larger ships in groups (especially if said larger ship has little point defense). They are named for a somewhat large insect found on Shōrino'ba, which have been known to kill adult Abh in swarms when provoked.


-Teikkupuraim-Class Battlecruiser, a ship class built for all possible space combat situations. This class carries a small complement of Īguru-Class spaceborne fighter-bombers, but that is far from it's only defense. It also carries extensive missile systems, which are utilized alongside antiproton streamers and plasma launchers. When combined with the extensive electronic warfare and communications suites, this ship is by far the most formidable in space combat. For planetary sieges, it has a single, dual-mode spinal weapon that can act as a railgun or antiproton streamer. As it is the largest class in the entire navy, it is usually seen operating as a command vessel, often personalized by it's commander. It's name, when roughly translated, means "Honor of the Empire".

Imperial Airborne Defense Forces Craft:

-Kyōrkaizei-Class Aerial Battleship, utilizing antigravity technology, this design is utilized in the atmosphere of planets to combat aerial carriers and other battleships. The circular engine pod holds turboprop engines, but they can be replaced with rocket and plasma engines for spaceborne operation (as is seen here). These ships can also be called in to provide air support, and can even be modified for orbital patrols as mentioned above. However, all are operated by the Imperial Airborne Defense Force. Name means "Great Wind" in Sānshingenō.


-Kujiryū-Class Aerial Carrier, named for a mythical dragon-like creature, this class of ship is a traditional design taken from the seagoing carriers. It utilizes a turboprop engine for increased endurance, as it is in the air for extreme periods of time. It carries multiple Haisana-Class Aerial fighter/bombers (seen in the top left), which use turbofan engines as they are stationed on the carrier and thus do not require the extra endurance.

IODN Craft:

-Iruka-Class Carrier, this class of ship has the exact same purpose as the Kujiryū-Class Aerial Carrier, and carries the same Haisana-Class Aerial fighter/bombers as it does. The design has been in use for well over a century, every time a new breakthrough it made, it is simply incorporated into the design. As one might suspect, it inspired the design of the Kujiryū-Class Aerial Carrier. It's design is ingrained in Abh culture, with a common joke about the lack of a dedicated spaceborne carrier blames the prevalence of this design, as it would be ineffective in space. The name references a mythical sea Goddess that is said to have sacrificed themselves to save the Abh, and the reverence shown to them in Abh religion is likely the cause for the continued use of this design.


-Teikokunken-Class Dreadnought, this class is extremely rare, with only a handful in use. They are built to be the ultimate in sea combat, armed with multiple railgun turrets, anti-air defenses, and missile tubes, these ships can take on a small enemy fleet without any backup. They also carry a light complement of Haisana-Class Aerial fighter/bombers, launched from electromagnetic catapults at the aft. Unlike most ships (which are powered by a fusion reactor), Teikokunken-Class Dreadnoughts are powered by the same antimatter reactors used on starships.


-Chikyū-Class Battleship, named for a mythical land, this class has also been used for over a century (likely for the same reason as the Iruka-Class Carrier, as Chikyū is the homeland of multiple mythical deities revered in Abh religion). It is designed purely for ship-to-ship combat, with railgun turrets and missile tubes comprising it's entire armament. However, it does carry two mini-submarines that are used to deliver up to four torpedoes each, an extremely effective strategy.

Imperial Planetbound Defense Army

-Heavy Hovertank, used mainly in vehicular combat, this tank is exceptional at destroying enemy vehicles. It is also useful in attacking enemy infantry, though the previously used tactic of running over the enemy (causing absolutely disgusting scenes that any human would end up with PTSD over) is no longer useful as that ability was sacrificed for increased maneuverability with the advent of antigravity technology. It is armed with two heavy railguns, a complement of ground-to-ground missiles, and a gatling coilgun.


-Light Hovertank, used in a support role, this hovertank is used againt infantry exclusively. It's main barrel, instead of being a railgun like one would expect, is actually a plasma launcher. Since Abh plasma weapons are nigh impossible to focus in-atmosphere, this tank's main barrel acts almost like a flamethrower (albeit a long range, effective against armor one). It also carries a complement to ground-to-ground missiles, as well as a light coilgun.


-Semarri Type 1 Combat Exoskeleton, a light combat exoskeleton deployed in offensive and special operations missions, this exoskeleton offers increased mobility, but has less armor than the Type 2. Both utilize the same helmets, which relay battlefield information and protect them from attacks to the head better than standard army helmets (as well as make it harder for the enemy to steal their ears as a trophy, something disturbingly common in internal conflicts).


-Semarri Type 2 Combat Exoskeleton, a light combat exoskeleton deployed mainly in the trenches for defense operations, this exoskeleton offers almost tank-like armor, but at the cost of reduced mobility compared to the Type 1. Both utilize the same helmets, which relay battlefield information and protect them from attacks to the head better than standard army helmets (as well as make it harder for the enemy to steal their ears as a trophy, something disturbingly common in internal conflicts).


-Infantry Body Armor, the standard armor for Abh Infantry, soldiers wearing this garment are deployed in all types of combat situations. The helmet's horizontal accents are actually hammerhead-like protrusions, which make way for the ears. This image is obviously not showing Abh, that's because this bit righ there isn't in character. yeah, not even trying to come up with an excuse for this one.

Technological Overview: Abh technology is quite advanced, with antigravity being a staple of everyday life. Military technology includes railguns, coilguns, lasers (rarely used), antimatter weapons, and plasma weapons. However, most of this technology is scavenged from ancient ruins, and the only thing truly Abh about their space force is the designs. The ground forces, meanwhile, are made up much more of Abh technology, mainly due to how plasma and antimatter weapons are either useless or catastrophically effective.

Their space travel technology is limited to the highly advanced Dimensional Jump Drive and the significantly less advanced antimatter/matter annihilation drive. The latter is used by most civilian starships, with them utilizing the Hashichi (Krasnikov Tubes) to travel at FTL speeds. Their warships use shields that grow stronger as they are attacked, with the generators projecting an energy field that converts all incoming fire to energy to power the shield. However, the shortcomings of this system are obvious: too much fire, and the shield system is overloaded, causing damage to other systems as well as making the shield worthless until repairs can be carried out. Thus, the amount of fire a ship can take is directly proportional to how much excess energy the ship can store or dispose of.

As mentioned, antigravity is an integral part of the Abh economy. With it, planetary mining is just as lucrative as asteroid mining, and the transport of cargo and passengers from a planet's surface to orbit and vice-versa is completely free. Landing troops on an enemy world is effortless, with transports requiring no fuel aside from the negative energy reserves they were filled with when built (The negative energy is not disposed of, instead being kept inside of a space-time bubble that keeps it from causing any effect until activated). All ships are equipped with an antigravity system, which allows them to neglect orbital insertion, which is a tactic used to gain the upper hand in maneuverability in battles, as they would not have to worry about their orbit when executing burns. However, such a usage of the device causes any Abh debris to impact the planet below, which is not always a bad thing when you consider that the tactic is mainly used in offensive operations.

Abh propulsion on the battlefield can take two forms: chemical rockets and antimatter/matter annihilation engines. Both are the only sublight engines that are capable of providing enough thrust to be effective, though each has it's merits and shortcomings. Chemical rockets are considered safer, and have easier thrust control, but their fuel supply is extremely limited (if a vessel used only chemical rockets during battle, it would run out of fuel by the end). Antimatter/matter annihilation engines have a higher thrust, and a single tanker filled with anti-substance fuel can keep a fleet supplied with fuel for months. However, if the fuel tanks of a warship are ruptured, the entire vessel will detonate, throwing shrapnel out at speeds that could potentially cause millions of deaths if the ship is in orbit of an inhabited planet. Furthermore, if the tanker were to crash, it would likely cause the destruction of whatever it crashed into, especially a planet with an atmosphere. Luckily for anyone on the field of battle, all ships are equipped with venting systems that eject the anti-substance fuel at a steady and safe rate, forming a cloud that could be passed through with shields up. The use of a tanker as a weapon is, however, not unheard of. Multiple plans for an attack on the alien capital involved crashing a tanker into it, obliterating any possible resistance. However, even the Abh find this too horrific, and it is kept as a last resort only.

Cultural Overview: The Abh operate on a loose Feudal system where families can move up and down in status depending on their actions. Racism ans sexism are unheard of, as all Abh are believed to be the children of the Goddess Abh (Homosexuality was considered a sin up until around the expedition to the seventh planet, as having a child was considered an incredibly important duty for both the man and the woman). Interestingly, nobles are not guaranteed a high military rank, they have to climb the ranks just like anyone else. Due to this, the Emperor could be a mere captain under the command of an Admiral born into a family of planetary miners. However, strict social rules make it shameful for a noble to refuse military service, as it is seen as a responsibility. Not abiding by this rules has resulted in many a family being removed from the spot of emperor.

Abh religion is polytheistic, with there being multiple deities forming a pantheon. There are eight deities, with multiple demigods and mortal servants also factoring in:
-Ethana, Goddess of war
-Iruka, Goddess of the sea and sacrifice (Revered for her sacrifice to save the Abh)
-Boskō, God of knowledge
-Depha, Goddess of luck and community
-Abh, Patron Goddess of the Abh (Believed to have created the Abh with her own body, who then took up her name out of respect)
-Urani, Goddess of Curiosity (Also believed to be the conduit between the Gods and the Mortals, all prayers are directed towards her. She is sometimes called "Zaicdaruta", which translates to "The One Who Watches", as it is believed that she will never interfere with Mortal affairs)
-Ningen, God of perseverance and hope
-Draka, Goddess of Evil, seen as the enemy of all other gods but Urani

Ningen is believed to be the leader of the gods, and is often called the "Kamigamgen", or "God of Gods" when loosely translated. He is believed to be fair and kind to all things, punishing everyone (including himself) equally. However, it is said that in the past he tried to kill Boskō and Ethana, Boskō dozens of times, but Ethana only once. During his fights with Boskō, he is believed to have almost killed Iruka, his sister. He never forgave himself for this, and it is said that even now he will bow in humility and ask for forgiveness when meeting another being, even if that being is a mortal. This legend gave rise to the Abh custom of "Shin-yasai", or "True Kindness". To follow his example, Abh bow to all that they meet in respect of Ningen.

Iruka is revered as much as Ningen, as she is believed to have sacrificed herself to save the Abh. It is said that after her sacrifice, Ningen desperately tried to save her, putting her essence into an iron body that could not rust. Many Abh sailors will swear that they have seen her while at sea, her mechanical body playfully leaping out of the water as if to say hello.

In the legends, Boskō is said to be the older brother of Ningen and Ethana, looking out for them until one day Ningen became fearful of Boskō's far superior intellect and tried to kill him. Boskō took Ethana and fled Chikyū, refusing to harm his beloved brother, but left behind a small part of his essence, hoping it could one day save Ningen. While Boskō hid from his brother in another world, Ningen tried to destroy the essence he left behind in a battle that lasted thousands of years. However, the essence that was left behind was hope, and even as Ningen tried to destroy it, another part of him still fed it. Whenever the essence of his brother was almost gone, Ningen would find that it would suddenly grow larger than ever before. Finally, he tried to destroy it using a device of his own creation (the effects of which bear amazing similarities to atomic weapons, causing them to never be implemented by the Abh). He utterly failed at this, as moments after he tried to destroy it, it grew to it's largest, and something changed in Ningen. He became regretful of his attempts to kill his brother, and accepted the essence into himself, becoming the God of Hope. He found Boskō and Ethana, but at first did not recognize his brother. When he discovered Boskō and Ethana's true identity, a joyful reunion took place as the three became not just siblings, but the best of friends. After his reunion with his siblings, Ningen focused all the energy that was once focused on killing Boskō on battling the evil Goddess, Draka. In his attempts to defeat her, he joined up with Depha, created Abh as a warrior, and elevated Iruka (Formerly a mortal fish) to godhood. Despite being hopelessly weak when compared to Draka, they managed to win the fight against her through Ningen's power of will, which kept them from losing a single battle with Draka.

After this great battle, Abh began to grow in character, becoming more than a mere warrior for Ningen. Ningen, however, refused to give her the right to call herself a Goddess, believing that she was too bloodthirsty to be trusted with such a title. Afraid that she would try to kill him, Ningen gathered the other gods together in an attempt to oppose her. However, the day at which she tried to kill him never came, and she instead continued her protests. Pleased that she refrained from violence, Ningen elevated her to godhood, an action which gained him her completely loyalty. For a time, all was good.

However, this idyllic period of time was not to last. Draka's evil essence lived on, and did what she never could. As essences are far more powerful than the gods that hold them, this evil essence spread over Chikyū trillions of times over, engulfing all in darkness. Abh, hoping to keep the good essences of the gods alive, tore herself apart piece by piece. The pain was horrifying, but she kept doing it, hoping to save her essence. She shaped each and every piece of herself into an Abh, who, out of reverence of her, adopter her name. By the end, the Goddess Abh was gone, but her essence lived on in the Abh species. She sent them to Shōrino'ba, a place that would be safe from all evils. Therefore, all Abh have a tiny part of them that is the Goddess' essence, and every new Abh born strengthens good.

The forces of good are still engaged in an eternal battle with Draka and her forces of evil, and it is believed that all Abh must assist the forces of good in this battle by doing "Good Works" (Helping others, fighting evil mortals, and having children). Because of this belief, those who choose not to have at least one child are frowned upon, though adoption has become increasingly recognized as a replacement for having a child due to it involving raising the child and helping them, thus being viewed as half of the last good work and all of the first. Many believe that the aliens current being fought are not just evil mortals, and that they are the puppets of Draka herself, and even those who don't consider the current war a religious one.

History: The Abh have always been warriors, almost fine-tuned to fighting. For their entire recorded history, they have been united under the banner of the Eight World's Empire (the name has changed, obviously). However, internal wars between houses are common, and ships usually display their house crest instead of the Imperial Banner. The internal wars became incredibly bloody after the invention of space travel, with orbital bombardment being called down on entire cities just to get at a few enemy leaders. However, over time, space battleships were built. Launched from the ground, they had paper-thin armor and usually only a single spinal weapon. Obviously, these early battles were short and devastating, with entire fleets shredding each other apart entirely in a matter of minutes. With the advent of space industry, battleships could be built bulkier than ever before. Suddenly, Shōrino'ba was peaceful. All the battles took place among the stars, with fleets engaging not over the ground below, but over the right to claim a new dwarf planet. Among all the fighting, private colony ships were launched towards the moons of Zenjyu, the closent planet to Shōrino'ba and a gas giant. Since the transport of a suitable amount of troops from one planet to another was simply impossible, these colonies were left alone by the military (although stray rounds could destroy an entire city).

These colonies grew quickly, with everyone realizing just how valuable the surface of other worlds were. Completely untapped resources, with no risk of invasion. It seemed as though a new ship was being launched every day, sent to bring colonists to the other seven planets of the system. Then came a revolutionary invention: negative mass. Above the seventh planet of Orenjiro, an ancient ruin was found by the Na'brel House, floating among the clouds of the gas giant. An expedition was sent, and they returned carrying a small, red cylinder that fell up. The scientists sent explained that the ancient ruin had a device to create such an object within it, and that the entire building floated using such objects. They carried with them a map of the gas giant, showing the locations of billions of other such buildings, which they had dubbed "Sūkaiisutshō" (referencing ancient religious texts).

With the ability to defy gravity, launching ships became effortless, as did the construction of things such as an industrial space elevator. Space industry boomed, with hundreds of space elevators popping up on every colonized body. Expanding towards the outer planets, they kept going and going, until they finally left their home system using sublight antimatter engines, colonizing nearby systems in the opposite direction as the other sentients in their home system. These sublight vessels laid down "Hashichi", which we could call Krasnikov Tubes, allowing them to continue bringing cargo to and from the system at FTL speeds. By the time the era of expansion stopped, they controlled fifteen fully developed star systems. Then, something changed in their mindset. It was long-held fact that there was another sentient species in their home system, but they instinctively avoided them as they avoided the Abh. Once the fifteenth system had been developed, the Abh suddenly became interested in meeting others.

The Abh formed a combined Na'brel and Kyūsei House fleet with one diplomatic vessel and a small escort. Just after they left, it was discovered that the aliens had launched a fleet of their own. Assuming it was diplomatic, the Abh fleet diverted course to meet it. However, when the two fleets met, the Abh transmissions were met with streams of antiprotons and plasma. They returned fire with their railguns, but were defeated within minutes. Immediately, the Empire focused all efforts on researching new weapons technology. In the skies of Orenjiro an ancient starship was found, floating among the Sūkaiisutshō. Contained within the vessel was a glowing core, which was found to generate an alternate space-time within a small area around the vessel. This border between this bubble and the rest of the universe appeared as a rainbow-colored bubble. Oddly, the border did not stop anything from moving through it, this oddity was found to be the result of something termed "space-time fusion", which allowed two space-times to fuse when they had the same properties.

At first, this odd device was thought to be a stealth device, as it greatly reduce the radar profile of the vessel when activated. Believing that there was no need for a stealth device, the Abh ignored it and instead reverse-engineered the weapons systems of the ship, which were surprisingly similar to the alien ones. Through this research, they too began to utilize antiproton and plasma weapons. However, Imperial outposts outside of the fifteen colonies began to go dark, the third one to do so managed to send out images of their attackers: alien vessels that seemed to just suddenly appeared at the station, coming in at FTL speeds without the use of a Hashichi. With the revelation that their enemies could travel FTL at will, the Abh began rushing to replicate the effect.

Despite their best efforts, nobody could create any kind of at-will FTL drive. Negative mass was the first theory, but no scientist could manage to lower the fuel requirements below the mass of an entire planet, thus ruling out a negative mass FTL. Dozens of theories were proposed, but none of them worked. In desperation, they turned to the space-time bubble generator found on the recovered starship, hoping that it might be able to save them. To their surprise and joy, it was just what they needed. When enough power was put into it, the device could "elevate" a vessel to the 5th dimension. The crew would survive by virtue of the habitable space-time generated, but the bubble itself could move in the fourth physical dimension, which was viewed as up/down from within the bubble. For a time, this type of movement was avoided, the consequences when returning to normal space being feared. Instead, the ships traveled in two dimensions. Interestingly. this caused a slight vertical drift, but it was so small that it didn't present any practical problem.

Though their new FTL allowed them to defend themselves better (Being "smaller", distances in the 5th dimension were exponentially shorter compared to those in "real space"), it was found that it was much slower than the alien drives. Still desperate to be able to counter the alien attacks, they finally moved in the fourth dimension, hoping that it would somehow let them reach their destinations faster. Miraculously, it did. Further studies showed that this was because the first dimension of time was manifested as the fourth physical dimension in the 5th dimension. Obviously, this presented both a major boon and a major problem to the Abh. While they could essentially travel to anywhere in the universe instantly, a slight miscalculation could result in a paradox. Thus, is was made law that all vessels were banned from moving "up" or "down" in the fifth dimension without doing the necessary calculations first. Even so, Abh travel times were cut down to mere minutes (and sometimes less), giving them a major advantage over the aliens.

As time went on, the aliens' upper hand faded away as the Abh pushed them out of their frontier territories, bringing the war to a stalemate. Despite this, the Abh still had no idea what the aliens called themselves, a fact that many thought of as a source of shame.

Other: The Abh, despite their warrior culture, almost instinctively greet other species in a friendly manner. Depending on the individual, the ship may approach cautiously, or sit there without any defenses online.

Name of nation: The Holy Dominion of C'ran

Species: Sakari

The Sakari are a long-lived species, the average lifespan being, even without the technological advancements that would allow extension beyond biological means, approximately 200 years. Due to the harshness with which their planet developed, Sakari have become naturally resistant but not immune to certain toxic gasses. Able to breath in atmospheres of both oxygen and carbon dioxide, Sakari can survive on many worlds without breathing apparatus in constant use. About the same height and build as a person, their skin takes a bluish tinge from chemicals on their homeworld, with not enough time having passed for those in outer colonies to have lost the pigmentation. Eye color is normally a blue iris with black pupils.

Description of government: The Holy Dominion of C'ran has a governmental system typical of many theocratic empires, especially more fanatical ones. There is no official constitution, rather decrees have accumulated over the many thousands of years, forming a basis for the current government. It has remained relatively unchanged for the past thousand years since the beginning of the Age of Unity. The Dominion is based on the principal of central control by the Dominion government. While principalities are provided autonomy to a small degree, many decisions come directly from the frameworks of the central government. Voting does not exist on a state-wide level, but does exist in the principalities, each of which (29 principalities total) elects ten representatives to manage dealings between the limited principality governments and that of the central government. People become part of the government either through appointment or passing qualifications.

Legislative/Executive Branch: Executive and Legislative functions are both served by the same body, the Concilan Dominitatus, or Council of the Dominion. While this name specifically applies to the group heading the Ross Federach (Federal Branch) it has come to mean the entire body. A sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass, the Ross Federach oversees the day to day administration of the Dominion. Provided with effectively limitless power, only the Judiran Tempal (Templar Judicator) reserves the ability to overturn any decision made by the Federach, even decrees directly from the Concilan Dominitatus. As a group, the Concilan Dominitatus is representative of the most intelligent people in the government. Raised to the position of Conciliar only after at least 100 years of service in the central government and having been subjected to a thorough investigation, the 29 members are the supreme power of the nation just under the Tempals and Morval, leader of the Dominion. War can only be declared by the Concilan Dominitatus, the only case in which a group or individual holds more power than Morval in a matter.

Judicial Branch: Known as the Judicatus Corsys (Assembly of Judges), their job is more akin to that of an Inquisitor than a judge. Despite this rather grim undertaking, they are hailed by most as heroes of the Dominion, halting threats internal and external before they appear. A closed group of Judiran Tempals (Templar Judicators) marks the highest rank of the Judicatus Corsys with entrance requirements even more stringent than that of the Concilan Dominitatus. Conducting domestic and foreign intelligence is the main priority of their job, but most of the lower ranks do serve in the capacity of judges, providing sentences and addressing disputes over law.

Planetary Forces

The Oberum Costaro Milita, Military High Command in English, is the center of all C'ran military operations across their space, both naval and ground-based. They have a coordinated operational doctrine with the other systems of the government, allowing them to ensure access to supplies as well as avoiding disruption of important matters. Other than strictly military operations, they can conduct disaster relief and building projects which they are quite skilled at doing. Led by a board of the highest ranking generals, the High Seer Al'za Kail can be granted full control. Separate from yet under jurisdiction of The Costaro are the Special Operations and Extranatural Divisions.

The C'ran military has almost no fighters and armor, making them heavily infantry reliant. To counteract this disparity when going against other states with such forces C'ran has developed special techniques to prevail.

The C'ran Expeditionary Units form around 40% of all C'ran military forces. As a normal military force, they are tasked with conducting many of the normal operations that such units would do. Because of their extensive training before deployment, including live fire and simulation exercises, everyone is service ready. However, they also conduct civic operations, including disaster relief when other branches cannot get there and construction projects that require the resources of government personnel.

Augmentations and Implants
Psychic Dampener- This small chip is planted in the brain when recruits finish combat training. While a normal device would induce psychic abilities in the user, this chip instead makes the person highly resistant to many psychic effects as well as a few psionic ones.
Neural Network- While all C'ran personnel have small chips that allow them to access technological information upon interfacing with an object, the neural network takes a step beyond that. In effect a computer, it handles many of the bodily processes as well as monitoring them. Because of this fact, it allows the body to integrate with other augmentations much more easily. Implanted early in the first year of training, the network can store various types of information as well as access technological objects remotely. While mainly centered around the neural chip and web on the brain, small wires travel throughout the person's body, increasing reaction time greatly.
Chyadris Implant- A recent development in augmentative technology, the Chyadris implant has changed the way the military functions fundamentally. Interfaced with the psychic dampener and neural network to protect the device from intrusions, the Chyadris allows a person to submit their body to a hive control mechanism with their permission, another safeguard. Because of the hive control function, military units can function in perfect coordination as well as receive information almost instantaneously from other units.
Ceramite and Synthetic Bonding- The most invasive of all the implants, this is worked in once the soldier finishes their second year of advanced combat training. Bones are infused with an organic ceramic compound, making them seven times stronger than normal bones. In addition, synthetic accelerators are placed throughout the muscle system, doubling the recipient's already considerable strength.
Pretalorphin- A chemical developed by C'ran scientists, the purpose of this augmentation is to change the cell structure of the body. The first effect is mutating the cells so that they become chlorophyllic in nature, allowing the recipient to sustain themselves for weeks without food. Secondly, it enhances the cell's carrying capacity and anti-external properties, boosting overall performance. A final effect is affording psionic powers to the recipient, albeit limited ones. These powers are cloaking, a speed-enhancement, telekinesis, and shielding.

Enlisted Uniform:

The uniform worn by Enlisted personnel is simple, relatively unadorned, and made for nothing other than a covering. Made of synthetic materials with kinetic and heat-resistant properties, the uniform can work as light body armor under an assault. As a one-piece uniform, military personnel use this uniform as their basic clothing option, wearing it as a badge of pride for their service to the C'ran people. A silvery color, the fiber is metallic in look and zips across the back. To distinguish ranks, personnel wear badges on the collar. The only other adornments are unit patches on the arms and ribbons on the chest to indicate what awards they have received and which operations they have taken part in. Rank insignias are stitched in navy blue.

Enlisted Body Armor:
C'ran enlisted personnel wear an exo-suit, in effect power armor. Completely encasing the body, all suits are usable in vacuum and can shield the user from radiation temporarily. The suit is modular in design, conforming close to the body. Powered by small quantum reactors the size of fists, all suits feature shields, a HUD, radar, communications suite, range finder, cloaking module, jump-jet device, servo enhancers, infrared and ultraviolet vision, and EMP hardened systems. Composed of a holon super-alloy with trace amounts of ratheum and a ceramite covering, the suit is extremely resistant to all forms of attack even without shields. External equipment is attached to the suit via magnetic strips or molecular bonders. Ranks are distinguished via the HUD so it is not apparent to the enemy who leads.

Officer Uniform:
The officer uniform is completely identical to the enlisted uniform except in the areas of rank insignias, which are worn on the shoulders and chest as well as the collar, and color, which is black compared to the enlisted silver. Rank insignias are stitched in white.

Officer Body Armor:
Identical to the enlisted body armor, these suits feature a few additional pieces of equipment. The command module allows the officer to direct his or her forces. In addition, these suits have psionic dampeners installed, shielding those in a small area from psionic effects. More ratheum is used in these suits so as to make them stronger and lighter, but as such makes them more expensive. An x-ray vision and portal module are included as well.

Naval Forces

Cantarin-class Battlecruiser: The mainstay ship of the C'ran navy, these vessels resemble works of art more than anything else. Despite their apparent frailty, they are very heavily armored through extensive over-lapping shielding systems, designed to act as the front-line fighters of the C'ran navy. Weapon ports, in the forms of long-range particle beams and magnet-accelerated weaponry, medium range energy projectors, and short range plasma and anti-matter missiles, remain hidden under the paneling. Kinetic-based point-defense systems are situated along most of the ship, utilizing combat-mixes of high-explosive and armor-piercing ammunition. Fighter bays are located in the frontal and dorsal node, holding such craft mainly for deployment to planets and occasional use against other spacecraft. Despite their famed nature in the Dominion, these ships are aging. Updates can't solve all problems.


Altar-class Troop Carrier: Utilizing similar artistic forms as that of older space-faring vessels, the Altar-class is purpose-built for its role as a multi-role unit. Equipped with manufacturing plants, troops bays and hangers, full hospitals and living quarters, deployable buildings, science labs, and a wide-array of weapons- albeit less than on the Cantarin-class battlecruiser- this ship can fulfill any role required through add-ons and modification. (Yes, 'tis a Halo pic.)


Dasius-class Dreadnought: Designed to replace the aging Cantarin battlecruisers, the Dasius dreadnought departs in design from other ships, instead becoming straight and sleek. As in the Cantarin class, the Dasius has most of its weapon bays hidden inside compartments until needed. Featuring much the same array of weaponry, the Dreadnought places emphasis on disruptor and missile weaponry than the Cantarin, allowing the ship to serve the role of fire support. Able to deploy massive amounts of firepower, these ships keep enemy units suppressed through massive volumes of weapons fire. No hangar bays exist on the Dasius, all available space being given over to weaponry, armor, and shielding. In addition, the Dasius is the first craft to feature gravitonic weapons, firing singularity bombs that exert a massive gravitational pull upon detonation, although this is reserved more for stationary targets as it is not very effective against ships, or space for the most part.

Orbast Flyer: The Orbast flyer is one of only two non-ship aerial units used in the C'ran military. A recent development after the Dasius dreadnoughts, the Orbast sports shielding, visual cloaking, and extensive sensor arrays. Designed mainly for ground support, it can nonetheless hold its own in space combat despite the in-atmosphere design.


Zeuros Troop Transport Craft: The Zeuros is the newest in the line of C'ran vehicles. Designed for situations that require large numbers of troops in areas inaccessible to the Altar-class carrier, the Zeuros holds almost no weapons. Equipped with an advanced cloaking system for stealth operations, it is even installed with a small time-dilation device, though this is used rarely since three seconds of use will drain the ship's core.


Hronathi Dropship: Designed alongside the Orbast flyer, the Hronathi replaced older model troop carrier craft after the most recent conflict, realizing that such craft required more protection and weaponry than previously had been installed, allowing the vehicle to both secure the drop zone and provide support to friendly forces. Highly maneuverable, the craft has proved its use despite the short time in service.

Technological Overview

The Dominion prides itself on being on of the most advanced civilizations in the galaxy by their own measures. While not common, magical and psionic devices can be seen in use by collectors or specialists.

Primary Tech: FTL Travel: C'ra has developed an extremely advanced form of faster-than-light travel, which works on the basis of both manipulating space-time and going outside of it. Spurred by the need to escape a collapsing star in their home system, they combined various technologies in an attempt to discover something. They succeeded. Through constant development and innovation, the C'ran have managed to reach their current stage of FTL travel: The anti-space warp drive. Allowing them to cross Andromeda in 30 minutes, the device works by first creating an Alcubierre Metric, or extending the space behind the craft while shortening the area in front. This alone allows travel faster-than-light. Secondly, it creates a bend in space which allows two locations to be brought closer together in a relativistic sense. Because of this, they can use it for in-system travel as easily as trans-galactic travel. On long journeys, such as a trans-galactic travel, warp field will be opened into another dimension known as the Fell Plane. While dangerous to some degree, it allows for distances to be crossed much faster. While 30 minutes is the minimum speed, that only applies to selective military vessels. Standard travel time for an average ship would be closer to two days. To achieve such speeds severely endangers the ship; 90% of tests have resulted in the complete annihilation of the ship.

Secondary Tech: Time Dilation Manipulation: Among the studies in the early period of the Meritocracy was space travel. It was determined that travelling at relativistic speeds would cause distortions in time, causing those in the object to age more slowly than those outside. This would create problems, as fluctuations in population and age distribution would be constantly occurring. To solve this problem, researchers began studying means of time manipulation through physical means. While time was subject to the whims of mages, not everyone could manifest these powers; even then, only powerful ones could do such a thing. With the discovery of the Fell Plane, great advances were made in this. Using energy from this dimension, it was possible to change the flow of time in a particular area to a small degree. As technology advanced, it was made quite common to implant these time devices on ships. Now, virtually all ships have these devices on them, and some have access to prototypes that are wieldable by a single-person.

Tertiary Tech: Molecular Recombination: C'ran molecular recombination works on the basis of nuclear fusion and fission, as well as other basic quantum means. While still in a fledgling state, the Sakari have long worked on manipulating individual atoms and molecules. This is viewed as the next step. Rather than having to use large, elaborate machines to conduct these things, the experimental Molecular Recombination Device, or MRD, would allow such processes to be done anywhere. The impact of such an advent would be astounding, allowing factories and even individual people to produce anything they want. However, power and miniaturization problems currently prevent the technology from being fully developed.

Cultural Overview

Faithfulness, Righteousness, Truthfulness

-The Aradan Creed

Overview: The Sakari culture values athleticism and fidelity above anything else. Competitions are a common sight and, while respected and conducted often, remain private affairs between the competitors. Results are only released if both groups agree to such an action. Sakari architecture is designed to complement the surrounding area rather than dominate it. Buildings are shaped with curves and natural materials and powered by renewable sources. Those near mountainous or hilly areas are tall and slim, while those in flatter regions follow the gentle slope of the land, curving around natural areas. Clothing is simple yet elegant, designed to monitor health via small telemetry sensors. Made out of synthetic fibers, each style is specific to a family or guild, with color, marking, and cut denoting certain achievements, relations, or status.

Food takes a similar approach as architecture, utilizing subtle herbs to accentuate the natural flavor of the main meals. Meals are always provided as one large serving as each dish is meant to complement the whole. Art is quite prevalent in Sakari culture, most often displayed in the mode of sculpture or music/dancing. Artists are respected throughout the Dominion, given higher social standing than most other people. Military members and religious figures hold the highest standing of all.

Magic: Magic is only available to a select few that display extraordinary will. With this will comes the ability to bend the universe to their will. The most commonly practiced magic is astral projection and ritual circles, with these users serving in positions of power that allow them to use their abilities to their fullest extent. Recently, magic has been harnessed in such a way that technological creations can create simple magical effects. This works only with the presence of certain materials that resonate closely with the World Source, the Sakarian name for the universal source that bestows magic upon users.

Religion: The official religion of the Dominion, also the one followed by practically every single inhabitant, is that of the Aradan Creed. Named after Morval's home planet, Morval himself has been regarded as a god for a millennium. Such an event occurred because Morval displayed seeming immortality, living for thousands of years yet remaining hidden until the Era of Darkness. In addition to his immortality, his immense psychic and magical presence far surpasses that of any in the known history of the Sakari. Legend has it that Morval descended to assist the Sakari in becoming leaders of the galaxy. Morval does nothing to dispel this cult which has arisen, yet neither does he seem to fully support it. Holidays occur rarely but last for several days at a time, a time of celebration for various reasons. While there are massive centers of public worship, most eschew this to conduct pilgrimages or private worship with family and friends.

History

The Sakari people were born in one of the outer areas of the Andromeda galaxy, hundreds of thousands of years ago. Living on a hostile planet of ice and fire, the early Sakari struggled to survive, limited in development. It took three hundred thousands years for the world population to go above ten million, but once it did so, it exploded. Technological advancements were made rapidly as Sakari congregated to the cities, seeking shelter from the harsh world. Large city states were formed, connected by trade and tourism, though this second was small due to the planet's climate. In quick time, a two thousand years after the invention of the wheel, the Sakari built their first space craft. Delegates from around the world came to view the launch of the shuttle, only to find, in horror, the shuttle explode in mid-air, sabotaged by extremists that desired the destruction of the city state which had first built the ship. An uneasy investigation followed, uncovering two people who would not divulge the other members of their group. Case was closed quickly and dismissed.

It would be another six hundred years before the first colonists reached the nearest star as fear of another attack inhibited development. Contact was lost with the colony but as it would take years with current drives an expedition was scrapped. No other vessels were launched until the travel time between the nearest star had been reduced to a week, an endeavor which took three hundred years of development among all the city-states. When retried, the colony was successfully established and the remains of the original expedition given a world-publicized return. With success visible to all, settlers quickly spread among the stars, some claiming victory while others disappeared into the void of space, never to be seen again.

Two thousand years before the current date, the Sakari people experienced an event known simply as The Reckoning. A collapse of a star near the home system, Saresh, tore open dimensional barriers for hundreds of light years in all directions, releasing massive amounts of radiation as a side effect. With this came confusion and conflict, engulfing the fledgling nation of C'ra in strife for a millenia. As the war died down, the Covenant of Lara was reached, ending the tensions between the different peoples. At this point, the the Holy Dominion of C'ran was established in a wave of religious fanaticism as one man rose above all others in war and in peace: Morval. Elected by those presents to be a divine ruler, he has led the nation of C'ran to this day.

Until recently, the Dominion has remained in apparent isolation, biding their time until they deemed themselves ready to venture out into the world. The Sakari have met plenty of other species in their travels among the stars, great cultures of war, intellect, and art. Only a Sakari hegemony remains for the Morval Doctrine is short, simple, and unchangeable: There can be none but the Sakari.

The New Roman Empire does not always conquer anything, only attacking when a faction is weak and if the abilities of that race would be valuable, or if the faction has a world that the New Romans want. Otherwise they are quite happy to trade.

Romus Humans

The Romus Humans are unique from other humans. Unlike there cousins they are much stronger and agile, as well as being vastly more intelligent. They are usually more progressive than Humans as well, and other attributes are also increased across the board. Also of note is their Psionic ability, which while not all have it, a large portion do. There Psionics is often equated to a more supernatural force, as no good explanation has been found for it’s existence.

A more rare ability is what is called the Void. The Void as described be it’s users is a energy source felt throughout the entire universe, which they can tap into for pretty devastating effects. Even rarer is when someone is born with both psionics and the void, which they can combine for extreme effects. The people are also biologically immortal, and the Emperor is one of the dual power users as well.

While never tested nor confirmed it is believed that the New Roman’s may have magical potential.

Solusi

The Solusi were conquered by the New Roman Empire about 200 years after the Romus Humans entered Andromeda.Solusi are a feline race, with features typical of felines other than regular hands and being bipedal. There coats can be almost any color and they can switch, it is hard to however hold onto a coat color that isn't there own natural coat color. They also have sharp claws, are quite stealthy. This makes them excellent for sneaking around or close combat and hand to hand fighters.

Forsythe

The Forsythe were conquered about 50 years after the Solusi were.Forsythe are a bug-race, they were once though to have been a hive mind, but no longer. They stand up on two legs, but there arms lack any hands, rather they use scorpion like tales on there back to manupliate objects, which also include stingers for combat.

While conquered races do not usually gain citizenship, it can be earned via service to the government or military. Some of the best soldiers are actually Solusi and Forsythe, and statues to these soldiers and even been erected in the Hall of Heroes.

Description of government:
The New Roman Empire is headed by Emperor Apollo Callisto, who is actually biologically immortal. Each planet elects senators to a planetary senatel, which then elects 10 senators from their ranks each to the Nationwide Senate. The Senators serve for life, and the senates decide on laws and setup court-systems. The Emperor does however have authority to override law and chooses the top military leaders.

In the event the Emperor dies he leaves who he wants to succeed him, or if he did not leave who to succeed him the Nationwide senate chooses the new Emperor.

Description of military:
The New Roman Empire’s military is a vast and well trained force, with highly advanced technology. It is broken up into The Roman Imperial Guard, the Roman Armed Forces, the Roman Intelligence Agency, the Space Marines Corps, and the Roman Navy.

Roman Imperial Guard
The Roman Imperial Guard is the lowest rung of the military, the units in it are not usually well trained, and do not have the best equipment. However they make up for it with vast numbers and there artillery pieces and vehicles, often getting called due the Hammer of the Emperor due to the sheer force they can apply with their numbers a vehicles.

-Roman Imperial Guardsmen
These soldiers wear a simple carbon nanotube suit followed by a titanium outer shell, with a special alloy on the joints to allow for bendability in the metal. Imperial Guardsmen are either equipped with a automatic C16 Kinetic Rifle, a explosive rocket launcher, or more rarely for higher-ranked guardsmen a plasma rifle.

-Siege Tank
The Siege Tank backs up the Roman Imperial Guardsmen and prevents their casualties from being higher than they usually are. The massive hulking tanks carry a standard ordinance, but can deploy into the ground and turn into an artillery piece. They are quite feared amongst the New Roman’s enemies and even the Imperial Guard, do to their tendency to have friendly-fire.

-Guardsmen Mech
A simple mech with two large rail-guns on either arm, these are quite capable of shredding through alien and vehicle alike. These mechs are more rare amongst the guard due to the fact that their rail-guns are expensive, because the rail-guns are actually ripped from space-ships and as such the mechs also require a expensive battery to keep them powered.

-GS-1 Gunship
These massive hulking flying vehicles carrying several plasma cannons, automatic kinetic weapons, and explosive weapons for use on ground forces. A point-defense system and more cannons defend it from air, these are the deadliest vehicle used by the guard, and are capable of unleashing massive amounts of punishment on whatever poor souls come into their sights.

A simple drop ship used to deploy troops to the battlefield. It has a few plasma cannons and a rail-gun for defending itself.

Roman Armed Forces
The Roman Armed forces are not as large as the Imperial Guard, but they have much more training and much better equipment. The Roman Armed Forces also included the Legions, some of the most Elite and Feared forces in Andromeda.

-Roman Bellator
Bellator translates to warrior or soldier within the latin tongue. These soldiers have a decent amount of training, capable of going toe-to-toe with most of Andromeda’s armed forces. Their armor is power armor, with a outer titanium shell followed by a ceramic layer then finished up with a carbon nanotube suit. These soldiers use heavy plasma weapons, with seperate ones for anti-vehicle or anti-infantry roles.

-Roman Bellator Auctum
Auctum translates to increased in latin. These Bellator have the same weapons and armor as the regular Bellator, but have received either cybernetic augments, genetic augments, or more rarely they have been synthed. These Bellator are more rare, but usually are much more efficient and deadly compared to regular Bellator.

-Ones caro exanimis
“Ones of Dead Flesh” or as they are often referred to by the regular roman forces hunters, are synths, however they are engineered from dead flesh, whether it be the Empire’s own soldiers or the enemy that they gain it from. It is a tripedal synth, with several small kinetic guns at the body of the hunter, making it very much anti-infantry. It moves quite fast, and can appear before most enemies realize it.

-HC-1 Gunship
Unlike the GS-2 Gunship used by the the Imperial Guard this Gunship is much more narrower, and only carries a few frontal-mounted plasma cannons. These Gunships are much more precision, and much more sturdier than the GS-2s.

-Emperor Tank
These large hulking beasts do not have the same artillery function as the Imperial Guard’s Siege tank, but have a massive plasma cannon capable of shredding through almost and two large rail-guns. These tanks are quite expensive and not as often seen, but they are still quite deadly when they are deployed.

-Brute Walker
These massive walkers have several plasma cannons as well a few large rail-guns. They are more common than the Emperor tank, and used when they are assaulting a city or heavily defended position.

-D-25 Dropship
A simple drop ship used to deploy troops to the battlefield. It has a few plasma cannons and a rail-gun for defending itself.

-The Legions
One of the most deadly forces in the universe, they are one of the few infantry units to have personnel shields, and their power armor is made up of much more expensive alloys that are much sturdier and last a lot longer. Their plasma weapons are simple rifles but pack more of a punch than most of the plasma weapons used by the infantry, and they also carry deadly plasma swords for when they get into melee combat situations. They also carry cybernetic implants

Roman Intelligence Agency
This agency is made up of psionics or void users trained in the art of stealth. They gather information and sabotage the Empire’s enemies, and also act as spies when needed. They are feared for their brutally effective methods.

-R.I.A Agent
These agents are equipped with a simple personal shield and a flexible carbon nanotube. They have a powerful silenced plasma sniper rifle, and can use either their psionic or void powers to go invisible. Quite effective

Similar to the D-25 Dropship, but it has stealth and invisibility systems.

Space Marines Corps
The most infamous and feared division of the New Roman Empire, the Space marines have massive power armor suits that augment their abilities greatly, as well as extensive cybernetic implants. They are often called the Scalpel of the Emperor, due to their precision and often effective work.

-Space Marine
Strikes that would fell a normal man will do nothing to a space marine. Their large plasma rifles rip through man and vehicle alike. Their strength is gigantic being augmented by their power armor and cybernetic augments. They are the most feared of the New Roman’s soldiers, and any who cross their paths, may god have mercy on yours souls.

-D-25/SP Dropship
Again similar to the D-25 but this one is much more durable and has a few more weapons, as well as huge boost to speed.

Roman Navy
The Roman Navy is a vast and powerful, with many diverse ship types. It is tasked with making sure the Roman’s systems and territory remain defended, attacking the New Roman’s enemies, and protecting colony ships.

-Roman Bug Fighter
A simple light fighter use by the New Roman’s for protecting their ships from bombers, it has a spinal mounted rail-gun plus two plasma cannons for dealing with other fighters or bombers.

-Roman Bug Bomber
This bomber posses a payload of antimatter bombs plus a spinal mounted rail-gun for attacking. Due to it’s payload it’s often brutally effective at taking out targets, regardless of their size.

-Sicily Class Frigate
The first frigate used the New Roman it is equipped with several rail-guns as well as antimatter missiles and plasmas cannons. It does not have much shielding, but it can still hold none the less.

-Sardinia Class Frigate
The Sardinia-class acts a missile boat, with nothing but tons of antimatter missiles. Facing it often causes trouble do to the sheer amount this ship is capable of unleashing upon it’s enemies if they encounter this class.

-Tuscany Class Cruiser
The sole cruiser class used by the the New Romans, it is also the first class to come with antiproton streamers. It is also equipped with several plasma cannons, rail-guns, and antimatter missiles, plus a decent amount of shielding.

-Tyrol Class Carrier
The carrier’s used by the Roman’s only come with a few plasma cannons for defense, as their main role is transporting the two bug small craft. The do have quite a decent amount of shielding however.

-Lombardy Class Battleship
Large then a carrier, these ships do not carry any small craft but instead carry tons of antiproton streamers, antimatter missiles, plasma cannons, and rail-guns for shredding through enemy forces and for extra measure they have a giant particle cannon capable of acting as a WMD. Their shields are also quite strong, and not easy pierced.

-Italia Class Dreadnought
The largest and most deadly ship used by the New Roman Empire, it comes with every weapon used by the New Roman Empire, as well as a particle cannon. It’s shields are the strongest of any New Roman ship, and will take a lot to wear down.

Technological Overview:
The New Roman’s vastly advanced technology is not actually of their own creation. While their FTL, genetic modification, cybernetic modification, and synthing(the combining of both genetic and cybernetic modification) is of their own creations a majority of their weapons and armor was recovered from ships left behind by an unknown faction. These ships are actually the same source the Abh gained their new weapons technology. Evidence and scans of these old ships points to the possibility of a inter-universal empire, but it it still a hypothesis at this point in time.

The New Roman’s FTL works by putting them in a entirely new universe, where distances in it are much shorter than in the actual universe. This allows for near-instantaneous travel to almost anywhere in Andromeda, but they are still working on improving the drive for travel between galaxies.

As for their genetic cybernetic and genetic modification it is very extensive, allowing them to modify on levels not seen before. Using nanobots they can even go so far as to augment nerves. A process they also have developed is known as synthing, wherein both processes are combined to make truly terrifying creatures. Due to the extensive changes made to synths, mind wipes are usually required, and they are also granted biological immortality due to the cost it takes to make one.

Cultural Overview
The New Roman Empire has cultural influences from both Italy and Rome, often being seen in their art and architecture. However because of their origins back on Earth they do have some influence from the USA, with some taking what could be seen as American names or eating american food. The New Roman Empire has evolved into a very much warrior-like culture, with most soldiers who go off to fight for the Empire being considered honorable and worthy of the praise of their friends and families.

The New Roman Empire’s government does however let those that they conquer retain their religion and culture, and they officially say that they are a secularized government, with the Emperor refusing to state his beliefs. A lot of New Romans, about 72% follow christianity or catholicism, with a smaller portion of about 8% being atheist or agnostic, 14% believe in the
“Old Faith” as they call it, which would be the original pantheon of Roman Gods, while the rest believe in a female goddess they call the mother or simply the goddess, who they believe one day will bring peace and happiness to all sentient life. It is to note the figures do not include the Forsythe and Solusi, who were not apart of the Empire at the time the figures were taken.

The Forsythe believe in the spirits of their ancestors, and that sacrificing everyday items such as soap, food, or drink will make their ancestors happy and they will grant good luck to those who do. The Solusi believe in animal spirits and have a vastly interesting mythos, which is very much comparable to the Native American’s beliefs.

History:
The New Roman Empire’s history begins following the end of WW3, with a few 100 american leaders and politicians jumping aboard the very first warp ships, along with billions of samples of DNA, eggs, and sperm. The reason for their retreat was do to the atrocities commited to the Middle East and Indonesia by the USA, and while they were not responsible for these actions they would likely be blamed because of their higher up position in the US government at the time.

Upon the launch of the ships and the activation of the warp drives a terrible accident occurred, and the accident ended up sending them into a odd space anomaly, which not only had the effect of landing them in the Andromeda galaxy, but also sending them back in time. The two colony ships crashed landed on a world within Andromeda, which was luckily enough habitable by humans. The DNA, eggs, and sperm survived intact, and the 100 began exploring the planet, hoping to find food and resources.

A man by the name of Adam Agata, who is now known as Emperor Apollo Callisto came across some kind of intact ruins. In it he found a perfectly circular stone, which had a outer blue shell. He touched it out curiosity, and watched how it affected him. This stone granted the New Romans the increased strength, intelligence, agility, and the psionics/void powers they have today. Adam Agata met up with the others, who were curious about their new found abilities as well.

The stone had also affected all of the DNA, eggs, and sperm aboard the ship, as they quickly went about making new humans. They decided they were no longer regular humans, and decided that with their new found abilities they would become a New Roman Empire, and began calling themselves Romus Humans. It did not take them long to build up a huge amount of population, as they began building a mighty city to rule over the planet, which they had taken to calling new Rome.

After this they rebuilt their ships and launched them with warp drives attached where they came across old ships, they quickly took them down and discovered their highly advanced technology and began augmenting it into their own. They also began developing a new system of FTL as they found the warp drives inefficient, and began developing their cybernetics and genetic augmentation. It did not take them long to spread out to the rest of the system, reinforcing it and making it as strong as possible.

It was after this they found the Solusi, who they quickly conquered. By this time Emperor Apollo Callisto, as he had taken up a new name declared that the Solusi could gain status as citizens if they served in the military or did other things for the new Empire. Veterans of the war went to the Emperor were they announced their intention to form the Space Marines, which he approved of and he said should begin immediately

The Empire ended up conquering the Forsythe, and finally developed the current system of FTL they use today, quickly refitting all ships to use it. They began developing all of their systems, and today stand 20 systems strong, with 18 fully developed and 2 colony worlds still being developed. It was then that they encountered the Abh diplomatic fleet, and while they did not know them at the time saw that the ships only had rail-guns, and fired, intent on conquering this new contact.

Today because of their technology gain the war stands at a stalemate, but the Romans fight bitterly, intent on defeating the Abh.
