Bio

Sometimes I pretend to be an airplane, because it discourages tripping and other clumsy acts, because any mistake I make is the death of innocent men, women and children.

...I swear I'm sane.

I always make my base in Africa, extra cash means more of everything. Also, why can we never use tanks in XCOM? I mean seriously, there's a map with a bunch of parked tanks on it. Why can't we take some back and use them on future missions?

X-Com is a paramilitary organization. A SECRET one..

The militaries of the world are the ones who mainly make tanks.

The only options are build a tank (which will take alot of time) or steal one from the military, which will cause unnecessary attention and could cause the council members to go "OIHJOIUAHFIOAUGIAFGAIUFYA, NO. YOU STOLE OUR STUFF. FUCK YOU. FUUUCK. YOOOUUUUUUUUUUU."

But whateva.

South America is pretty good, allows you focus on different researchs

Ew, no. Autopsies and interrogations only need two-five days, you're giving up way better bonuses for something that is practically already there.

Africa! 30% funding woot!

Hmm... This might be a problem...For one thing, there won't be Skyrangers yet right at the beginning. For another, Skyrangers won't be armed as they need to free up as much weight and space as possible to deliver their most devastating payload yet: The troops. But I like the idea of giving the Skyrangers weapons, but it will only come some time after XCOM receives its Skyrangers. And even then, Skyrangers can become eclipsed by more advanced transports, if you know what I mean :)

They won't need to 'free up weight'...The troops aren't exactly THE HEAVIEST THINGS EVAR. They're humans.

Unless titan armour. *shrug*

Also, if better transports arrive, then my char will just drive them instead :P

Normally neither, And i see the other guys point. You should go with the guns on the skyranger. that would be good for you. you would still have interactions with the team while being safe from the enemy ground troops. Unless they have launchers. But don't go saying yu get shot down everytime they have launchers, it would ruin the experience of that.

Alright, alright, fine...

I'll provide air support + miniguns. :P
Steve twirled his staff in the air, for no apparent reason besides showing off. He felt a shockwave come out of the armoured mans sword. It would blow him away if he didn't protect himself. But, he did just that. Stopping the staff twirl, he brought his hand up, palm open and facing the shock wave's point of origin. A simple barrier spell would protect him.

A glowing, dark purple see-through sphere surrounded the Pyro-Wizard, stopping the shockwave from harming him. After a few moments, the barrier dissipated into thin air and Steve stared at the armored man. "Nice weapon." A burst of flames came out of his staff's tip. Had his face not been covered by the hoods shadow, some of his opponents would see him grin.

Well you would normally have a pilot and co-pilot. One would most likely stay with the ship. But what i am thinking is that the sky ranger takes off after the squad gets off and then takes up an overwatch position to give CAS to those who need it. Could also have a sniper team inside them to provide sniper cover.

Which one would go out into the field? Interested in that position.

Hm. Isn’t the whole point of the pilot staying in the ship due to that he’s probably the only one who knows how to fly the thing, and if he got killed then the squad wouldn’t be able to make it back to base?

But the Skyranger is out in the open during the missions, door open always and it isn't like it's camo'd.

They're already in that much danger...

I've always wondered about the conspicuous lack of air support in XCOM. Sky Ranger gunship anybody?

Now Sky Ranger pilots would probably be more interesting, and you may even be able to go on the mission rather then sit on the ship. Depends on GM's preference.

I.

CALL.

DIBS!

Fuck it, I AM BEING THE PILOT OF A SKYRANGER.

Besides, seeing as Skyrangers deploy at the Mission Area, if the squad needs backup, provided I'm not providing air support, could I perhaps help out in the ground mission?

Or, I could just help out anyway rather than sit in the ship like a lonely, lazy ass.
UFO is too big.

Raven/Firestorm crashes.

Pilot must use his/her wits and guns(most likely just a sidearm) to survive the aliens landing to finish the job, waiting for the sky ranger to come to pick them up, or go inside the city they crashed near to take a plane to what country the X-Com base is in.

oh well im not too good at scaling descriptions but he is tier 4 so pretty superhuman but nothing world bending.

It's more like how, lets take for example Steve, I put that his maximum(might change) temperature is high enough to cremate bodies.

I have another twist on the binary idea... a Dyson Sphere around the companion star, the whole construct circling the primary of the pair. Huge, huge amount of space, enough to "house" thousands of civilizations at once. If not tens of thousands... or more. Actually created this for an idea of my own, but...Oops, almost forgot: This Dyson Sphere is habitable both on the inside and the outside surface. Like I said, HUGE huge surface area to play with.

And in the centre of this 'Dyson Sphere', there would a large, uninhabitable central star, almost like our sun.
Perhaps, if magic is going to play a role in this, magic tendrils that are invisible to the naked eye come out of this central star will connect to some planets, causing them to have magic, while the untouched worlds don't.
