On the surface, the town of Aria Bay, and Beacon University residing within, is completely normal. Your life, similarly, has been mostly normal since you started living here.

You didn't expect things to change so fast from the normal you've gotten so used to - and not more than a month after entering college, either. A paranormal entity has appeared before you, explaining that he wishes to make things "interesting" around Aria Bay, as well as the fact that you're not the only one he's appeared before. Soon after, you find abilities - superpowers - awakening you've only ever previously seen in video games or comic books. You have reason to believe that you're not the only one who has gained these powers. At the same time, you also doubt only these gifted folk know about the supernatural. All you know is, there's more to this world than you knew. Possibly more than the majority of the town knew.

And you're gonna find out what other secrets Aria Bay holds.

---

Okay, with that out of the way, we're here to have fun. At the same time, I want to make things clear; I don't want all player characters to have powers, nor do I want all people with powers to be player characters. (Confusing, huh?)

I'd prefer all player characters to be around the same age, and in the same college(Beacon University), but if you have another idea and have a way to make it work, be my guest.

I want to have at least 2 "Gifted" (superhuman) player characters and 1 "normal" player character. That, however, does not mean the "normal" player character has to be unable to compete in combat - they might have, say, lived on the streets for most of their life and self-trained in combat to defend from muggers, gang members, etc. Or perhaps, they have marksman or archery skills. These people would be able to handle unskilled "Gifted" characters. However, there are very few people in Aria Bay who know about the supernatural and haven't left to get out of the inevitable wave of destruction coming with it.

I'm not gonna put a cap on how many players we have for now, but I want at least 3 other people here with me. Late joiners are perfectly fine, and if you don't want to go through the "new student" stuff, it's fine to just go with having not been focused on before, but having been here the whole time - we can't expect everyone here to know everyone on the campus.

Thanks for reading this whole load of crap, and I'll hopefully see you in the RP.
Ah, alright.

NOW I'll do it.

@phillip1882 @Cam
Name: James Locke
Level: 17
Class Name: Glitched Code
Abilities:
Passive 1 - Antivirus
Description - Protecting the program with an antivirus prevents harmful effects from certain sources. Passive. Increased resilience to poison-based attacks. (When someone with <<The Gamer>> class itself shows up, this might be given a numerical value.) Exclusive to those with the Glitched Code class.

Active 1 - Rubberbanding
Description - When you have a projectile or anyone with a weapon headed in your direction, use this. You'll snap back to where you were at a previous point, with a maximum of being able to snap back to 5 minutes ago. Can be taught by Glitched Code classes to other Ability Users.

Active 2 - Anti-Collision
Description - In the event that you cannot use Rubberbanding to avoid an attack - for instance, something that can home in on the user - this is a last resort. While it takes a much higher energy drain to perform, once can briefly "glitch" through projectiles. Can only be used by Glitched Code classes.

Natural ability user

Backstory: James Locke is a bit of a "late bloomer," when it comes to natural ability users - whereas most obtain their abilities somewhere in their teens, his awoke at age 23. He had grown up with a high potential to use his brain, though his physical strength was quite lacking. After graduating from high school, he took up hacking, doing freelance jobs to pay for college as well as making game hacks out of boredom. His abilities manifested around that.

It's been 3 days since he gained these abilities, and yet he still doesn't understand them. That changes today.
Welcome to <<The Gamer>>! I'll probably edit this post with information for joining later on, but for now just take a look at the interest check, where I elaborated on things for people who haven't read: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/3934399

@phillip1882 @Cam Mentioning you two so you know the thread is up.

Here's the app...

Name: (Your character's name. No canons or relatives of canons.)
Level: (DO NOT fill this in until a level is given by the GM! Your level is based on how strong you are by the GM's standards.)
Class Name: (Example, the class The Gamer would be what is used by Han Jae-Han in the webcomic. This is purely aesthetic, though a warning, others may use the same Class later down the line - and they might have to, if a Trained Ability User. You can also use canons, though be wary of power level.)
Abilities: (Recommended 2 passives AND 3 actives to start with. Edit more in as they are obtained. Having less to start with is an option, but not more. I will keep your starting abilities documented, in case someone else joins with the same Class.)
Natural or Trained?: (A few warnings; There is a limited power pool for Trained ability users, as there aren't so many powers that can simply be taught to anyone. However, Natural ability users have to have abilities that tie into their backstory.)

Backstory: (Must link to abilities if Natural Ability User. For instance, someone who almost died in a fire would get some sort of pyrokinesis ability. Or, Han Jae-Han sitting on his butt playing video games most of the time resulted in <<The Gamer>>.)

Once you both have your apps up, I'll start the RP.
@Diamond655 Interested, as we discussed in chat. Is there a CS format I can look at?

I haven't made a character sheet yet...I'll do that real quick, then post the thread!
very interested in this.

i'll play a character who learns he can manipulate fire.

Great. We'll look for 1 more person before we get started, but the RP will always be open to new members.
I'm gonna put a wall of text explanation on what <<The Gamer>> is in a hider.

The basic gist of this RP is, we're exploring the world of <<The Gamer>> in another country, i.e. America(only choosing America because I refuse to research a whole other country's culture and everything just for the sake of this RP.)

For obvious reasons, the Gamer 'class' itself will be restricted, as will top-tier ability users in general. I'm not letting a ton of demigods run around and mess with everything. However, with that in mind, I also ask that those that actually get accepted for a top-tier ability user keep in mind that they start off weaker than other ability users, starting out barely being able to survive any sort of fight with their own wits when faced with other tier ability users.

You can feel free to be creative with what your characters can do, but make sure it ties into the backstory, and make sure it doesn't qualify for top-tier, i.e. world-benders and people who can grow strong with no upper limit.
