aka
Rémi Elayna LeBeau

Birthplace
New Orleans, Louisiana

Appearance
Rémi stands at 5' 5" (1.65 m). She's a slender young woman with fair skin, beautiful hazel eyes and is currently a brunette.

Powers
Gambit has limited Kinetic Energy Manipulation abilities:

  • Kinetic Charging - Gambit is a mutant who has the ability to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to pure light pink-colored kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with highly explosive results. She prefers to charge smaller objects, such as her ever-present playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for her to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object: the larger it is the more time it takes to charge. Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of her explosions is dependent on the mass of the object she is charging, for example, a charged playing card explodes with the force of a grenade.

  • Gambit's ability to tap kinetic energy also grants her incredible superhuman physical abilities (strength, speed, reflexes and reactions, agility, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, balance, and endurance), as her body constantly generates bio-kinetic energy and so is perfectly constructed for constant motion. This gives her an added edge that she has used to her advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style.

  • She also has the ability to create static, because of the charged potential energy always in her body, that shields her mind from detection and intrusion by even the strongest and most powerful telepaths (such as Charles Xavier). The shield has the added effect of destabilizing touch-based abilities.

Pros

  • As stated above, Remi's physical abilities (speed, reflexes and reactions, agility, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, balance, and endurance) have been increased to just beyond peak human ability. Her strength has also increased, but is not superhuman by any means. Remi can lift up to roughly 250 lbs.

  • Gambit has been stealing things all her life. When it comes to pick pocketing, sleight of hand, lockpicking, hiding in the shadows, and burglary Remi has few equals.

  • Remi always carries no less than 2 decks of playing cards, and often has her lockpicking tools with her.

  • She is quite the marksman at throwing cards and other small objects whether they're kinetically charged or not.

  • Remi is an excellent player of card games, especially poker.

  • Remi is bilingual, speaking both English and Creole (though her player does not & will be using Google Translate).

Cons

  • She hates cold weather.

  • Remi has a criminal record (mainly from her activities from her childhood & early teenage years) and therefore is in the system.

  • Due to the death of Bella Donna Remi is currently exiled from the city of New Orleans. Running into members of Thieves' Guild whether in New Orleans or not may or may not have negative consequences. While running into members of the Assassins' Guild, especially the Boudreaux family, will most definitely have dire consequences for Remi.

  • Remi is still legally married to Julien Boudreaux of the Assassins' Guild.

  • Remi has trust/loyalty issues. Up until this point in time she has only been truly loyal to the LeBeau family, Julien Boudreaux (until the death of Bella Donna), and herself. In every other relationship she has betrayed or been betrayed by the other person(s).

  • She would rather flee than fight, so if given the opportunity she'll do just that as long as others aren't placed in danger.

Brief Bio

The girl who would become called Remi LeBeau grew up on the streets of New Orleans under the care of Fagan's Mob, a gang of street thieves who raised the child. This, of course is where she would learn the ways of thievery. After living as an orphan on the streets, a 10-year-old Remi attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, a master thief in his own right. Jean-Luc took the girl off the streets and adopted her into his own family. As a LeBeau Remi's thievery schooling went to the next level.

Remi's mutant abilities kicked in around 13 years old. She kept this a secret from her family, practicing in private when ever she could.

Jean-Luc was not only the patriarch of the LeBeau family, but also the head of a criminal organization known as the Thieves' Guild. When she was 15, Remi accompanied her cousin Etienne Marceaux on his "Tithing", the ritual initiation test of the Thieves' Guild. But, the initiation went very wrong with Remi and Etienne having to defend themselves against a couple of mutants. During their escape the two cousins had to dive from a cliff side into the sea below. Remi was ultimately saved by the Guild. Etienne drowned.

A year later, Remi would successfully pass her own Tithing. As an official member of the Guild Remi not accompanied other thieves on jobs, but was allowed to bring to the Guild and accept her own missions.

After coming of age and in an attempt to reconcile the Thieves' Guild with its rival criminal family, the Assassins' Guild, Remi married Julien Boudreaux, grandson of the head Assassin, whom she met at the age of eight. Unfortunately, she was challenged by his sister, Bella Donna, to a duel after the wedding. In the duel, Gambit killed Bella Donna, and she was exiled from the city, ending her romantic relationship with Julien.

(The GM is more than welcome to PM me with ideas to add to Gambit's history [such as her possible involvement with Candra, Pig, and Dr. Essex] and to have that history come back to haunt her & her teammates in present time.)

What year is this taking place in?

I've been wondering this myself. From the intro I wasn't totally sure if this would be taking place during the 60's, this year, or somewhere inbetween.

Ricki was on her knees atop her bed within her room. She brushed her long shiny black hair back as she wrote upon the wall with a red crayon. The fifteen year old didn't like this room. She didn't like being on this team, and she didn't that the Flash had forced her to leave her home. Ricki didn't much care for the Flash either. Who was he to tell her what to do? Who was he to spoil her fun in Keystone City?

The girl was in mid-sentence when the alarm sounded throughout the compound. Ricki's brow furrowed at the loudness of it, but her glossed lips curled into a smile. The alarm indicated that it was playtime. She finished her sentence, and then placed the crayon neatly back in its box. Yes. It was playtime. And, playtime meant she had to change into her play clothes. It was off with the red short-sleeved stretch top and white lace trimmed tank underneath. Off with designer boot-cut jeans. In their place would be a red spandex bodysuit that clung to tightly to such a young body. Blue gloves covered her delicate hands and boots slipped over her dainty feet both reminiscent of a swashbuckler or pirateer. Then, came the white harlequin mask with a sewn in turquoise wig. And to complete the outfit, a short blue jacket with yellow trim and puffy sleeves. Once dressed Ricki was about to leave her room to join the others when it dawned on her. You play if you don't bring toys. Quickly, the girl went to the chest at the end of her bed and proceeded to grab a few 'toys'. These gadgets were small enough to slip into her jacket, gloves and boots. Except for her handy 'punchline' which she twirled in her hand as she left her room.

Entering the common room about the time that Shock came in, Ricki's dark eyes looked around in baffled amazement at the scene before her.Plastic Man was tangled up against the wall. Ricki was not surprised by this considering his clumsiness during the team's battle with the Kobra. The memory of using the rubber-boy's ballooned body as a launch pad did put a smirk on her face. But, seeing Patriot holding up not only the couch but also the refrigerator above his head turned her smirk into a frown. "My milkshake."

Hi! I have a question before my opening post. Are all the young heroes in the same place right now? Because in my head, Jin's in Gotham... so should I relocate her to Star City now, or later?

I echo that question. Has the whole team been relocated to Star City? Or do they live in one city and use zeta beams like in the animated series to meet up at the Star City headquarters?
Also, what time of year is it? Five PCs are under the age of 18 and maybe should be in school...
Apparently there will be a Supernatural spin-off...
Alias - Madcap
Name - Ericka "Ricki" Edwards
Age - 15
Appearance - Ricki stands at about 5' 5". She has naturally dark hair which she wears down to her shoulder blades, and deep brown eyes.
Personality - Dark, Vindictive, Disturbed
Sponsor -
Powers
Eidetic Memory - Ricki can remember great volumes of information, in greater detail and for much longer than the average human, she can read books, listen to song lyrics, encounter people or experience events and recall a vast deal of the details of her experience. In addition, it takes less effort to recall the information she encounters, and she can remember it for longer without having to strain. Her memory is also more resilient against Memory Manipulation.

Enhanced Athleticism - Though not on the level of Batman or Nightwing, Ricki's agility, balance, flexibility, and endurance is greater than the average adult human.

Foreign Chemical Resistance - Ricki has an extremely high tolerance to the effects of drugs and other foreign chemicals.

Gimmick Weaponry - Ricki can create and use specialized high-tech weapons that have a variety of functions. Ricki has just enough knowledge in mechanics/engineering, electronics, physics and chemistry necessary to make her toys come to life.
Weaknesses
Flashbacks - When under great stress or experiencing certain things, Ricki may suffer from a flashback of a truly horrible event from her past. Depending on the severity of the memory the flashback could have any one of a number of effects on her: hesitation; running away from the person/event that caused the flashback; attacking the person(s) that triggered the flashback and/or going berserk; or possibly falling into a near (but short) nonmoving, nonreactive trance-like state.

Broken Memory - Ricki has a hard time remembering her life before the events that lead her to become Madcap which was roughly seven months ago (which is when her Eidetic Memory kicked in).

Foreign Chemical Resistance - She is not immune to drugs and other chemicals, Ricki simply has a very high tolerance. (If it can take down an elephant, it can take down Ricki.)
Also, not only does she have a high resistance against harmful drugs, but this resistance extends to helpful/medical drugs as well.

Human
Equipment
Costume - Madcap's costume only conceals her identity and doesn't provide any real protection. The costume resembles that of a circus clown or harlequin complete with: spandex bodysuit, gloves, boots, jacket, and a mask with a sewn on wig.

Duffle Bag of Toys - Most of Madcap's gadgets are small enough to be carried and concealed in her costume/body, but when she wants to have lots of fun she brings a bag to make sure she has enough toys for everyone!

Punch Line - Roughly the size of an escrima stick (see Nightwing) with a big white fist on the end, Madcap will use this as a weapon or as a grapple gun (see Batman) in which with the press of a button the fist and grapple line shoot forth, the fist's fingers extending to grab hold of the first thing they come into contact with.

Joy Buzzer - This little toy is used as a stun gun, and must recharge after two uses.

Playing Cards - They are used like shuriken and are sharp enough to cut through leather straps.

Chattering Teeth - Biting down with the strength of a large dog, the nasty toys distract opponents with pain and the severe difficulty of removing them.

Lullaby Teddy - A teddy bear that releases enough sleep gas to fill a 10' x 10' room.

Sneezing Powder - Self-explanatory.

Itching Powder - Self-explanatory.
BRIEF Bio
Ricki really does remember anything before being dumped in a vat of used hypodermic needles. She does know who her parents and family are, she does know who she is and her hometown of Keystone City. But, what her young life was like before seven months ago is pretty fuzzy. See... not all of those hypodermics were completely empty, and whatever was left in them got injected into the poor girl. Needless to say the unknown chemicals had an effect on her.

Not long after Ricki stumbled upon one of the Trickster's old hideouts. Suddenly she was inspired. Within a week Ricki donned a costume and mask, and after finding out those responsible for dumping her into the dangerous gave them what for. Afterwards, she continued her vigilante ways, her targets being, in one form or another, those deemed as bullies and/or oppressors. Soon the Flash would intervene as Ricki, now calling herself Madcap, became increasingly more violent.
Notes
Not wanting another Trickster, Prankster, Toyman or worse on the streets, the Flash has done his best -with varying degrees of success- to channel Ricki's anger into something more positive.
