For people who are confused about apostrophe usage:

's is either "[word] is" OR "[noun/name]'s [possessed object]"

((Sidenote: if the noun or name ends with S then stick an apostrophe after it and don't add another S))

Ill show you some examples:

It's a boy
The dog's bone
Harry's wife
The steak's done

If you say "there are 50 state's in the US" you are saying "there are 50 state is in the US"

If you say "I have 2 car's" you are saying "car is."

you can get the hang of this by looking at your text and if it's not a noun or name, saying the full word "is". If it sounds right, leave it. If it doesn't make sense, you know the apostrophe doesn't apply.

This thread is brought to you by Nex's frustration with Gwazi misspelling jealous. I find Gwazi's struggle with this issue more noticeable because I do that internal "[word] is" exercise and it always looks wrong to me.

Edit: possessive apostrophe doesn't apply to "it" because it is a pronoun.

Edit 2: and yes, I do expect ironic shitpost replies to this. I'm at peace with that.
