Fractions: A New Age

Cass spotted a pile of firewood in one corner of the room and she began to move a few pieces to the fireplace

“Eh, I think I’ll just take the room next to this one” he replied.

“Oh, really?” Cassie barely concealed the huge grin appearing on her face. He was going to think she was such a goon! She knelt by the fireplace as she felt the warmth in her hands and knew it would be a good time to try, so she made a small flame appear in her hand and then focussed on moving it towards the logs. Damn, all it did was flicker a little bit. Oh well, she moved it towards her finger tips and spread it across each one. Then she put her hand on the wood, watching it singe rather than catch fire.

“Okay I know we have completely different elements but you gotta help me!” She wailed. “It’s your new duty as dorm buddy” she announced giggling.

The Asylum

No one had ever given her a nickname? Hmmm... Damon tried to think of one, he wasn’t very good at it. “The only one I can think of is Bella or Belle, sorry not to give you much of a choice. Neither are as pretty as Arabella though so it’s up to you.” He smiled at her kindly, he couldn’t actually see that there was anything wrong with her except for maybe just not liking when too many people are around?

They continued walking and eventually reached what Damon thought was the living area. He popped his head into each doorway of a few rooms stating “Hmm, these are all empty... Oh wait this one has a bag in there, it’s not mine. What about you? If not then maybe we’re in the totally wrong place?”

Arabella nodded and stood up quickly, she seemed pretty eager to leave. Damon got up and led the way out of the room, knowing she would follow when she was ready. Once in the hallway he felt as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders, he couldn’t stand another moment with all those crazy people.

“Ummm... I don’t actually know where we’re going” he admitted sheepishly, looking around for a clue. In the end he just picked a direction and walked, admiring the decor. He glanced back at Arabella and asked “do you have a nickname? Arabella is a lovely name but a bit of a mouthful.”
