There is no normal when it comes to family. It's unconditional -- a bond that is more than blood and biology or births and baby showers. While many are born into it, other's build bonds and break them in search of their forever families. But, it's the lucky ones that never have to search too hard for this, because their families are fighting for them too.

The Families:

Mathers:
Nothing comes before family with the Mathers clan. Both divorced from former spouses, the mother and father have truly found their soulmates in one another. However, due to medical issues, the wife has never been able to give her husband any kids, so they've turned to the foster system to construct their family. They are capable of loving anyone; however, they're careful about adopting just anyone as they never want to impair their current childrens' well-being.

Zocchi:
Marcello Zocchi is a politician, married to an ambitious professional; while, they have children of their own, they've taken to fostering children as it looks good for the Zocchi’s campaign. As a whole, the family is incredibly disconnected, yet they've mastered the art of appearing as perfection in front of the camera. There are high expectations placed the children to be the best at something -- music, sports, academics; however, the love and support has never been there as a reward to that good work.

Borland:
Tory Borland has a burden for taking in problemcases. She's a hardass with a no bullshit mentality; however, she truly has a heart for the kids she takes in, even if she hides it behind a vulgar mouth and hard exterior. The children living under her roof may have minor criminal records or severely messed up family lives -- many times seeing her place as only place left to go; however, no matter how broken they are when they come, the woman never allows that to be an excuse for them no actively practicapting in bettering themselves.

Rules:

  • Balance the Statuses within families; just be conscious of all the families backstories, so that Mathers don’t have five birth children from previous marriage and no adopted children and such.

  • This is likely to be dialogue heavy, so I understand shorter posts. Just be sure to balance them every once, in a while.

  • Keep it PG-13; nothing they wouldn’t do on CW.

  • Follow all forum rules.

  • Be conscious of last names -- only adopted and birth children would have the family's last names. Children from previous marriages may have different names, if you want them too.

  • For appearance, here's a Directory for face claims. Many twenty year olds can pass for older teens. Feel free to use face claims that aren't on here, it's just a helpful tool.

  • No character limit -- just make sure just as much attention goes into each of your characters.

Character Sheet:
Feel free to get creative with this;

Name:
Appearance: Directory
Age:
Family: Place random, if you don’t have a preference
Status: Biological/Adopted/Fostered
Personality/History:
Other: Place career here, if they have one.
Thoughts On Characters: “List at least three thoughts or quotes from your character about other characters in the roleplay, so that we can get some pre-developed relationships going.”

Character Directory:

Mathers:
Alexander Mathers -- Biological Son

Zocchi:
Marcello Enzo Zocchi -- Father
Nadia Zocchi -- Biological Daughter
Rose "Rosy" Magleaf -- Foster Child

Might be interested, but not really into "free" role playing. Let me know if this gets more developed. Also limit on how young the kid can be? Or if someone can play a set of siblings?

I wasn't going to place a limit on how you, but I thinking any younger than around ten would limit their interactions with other characters unless there were several characters around that age. Also, if you're talking about playing two siblings from the same family I don't mind, at all.
Shaving cream. Shaving cream and spilled beer. Cristian’s eyes flicked open hesitantly as his nostrils took in the smell.

“Goddamnit.” He groaned as he set up, his body protesting the speed at which he did so. He took in the scene that surrounded him: the entire room littered with empty cups and bottles and the snacks… you could barely tell carpet from cheese curls and crushed pretzels.

Cristian had understood early on in his school experience that career-minded parents wasn’t something to mope over, but rather it was an obligation to host around seventy of his closest friends as a means to kick off the new school year the right way. And by the condition of his house, they’d definitely gotten off to a great start.

Cristian shuffled through the dense debris to his room where he found a friend passed out in his bed. He clicked a picture of the guy on his phone, before pulling a pair of jeans out from under the inebriated sot and slipped into them. Cristian grabbed a shirt and his backpack as he stole a glance at the clock on the kitchen’s microwave. “First day's the biggest buzzkill of 'em all.” He mumbled taking in the full scope of the room once more. He shook his head letting out an entertained laugh as he dialed a number on his phone as he walked out of the door and climbed into his car.

“Karen…” Cristian voiced perked up, though it still bore the huskiness of someone who’d only woken up several minutes before. “Yes, yes, it’s your favorite person… No, don’t hang up; really, it’s not nearly as bad as last time… Of course, premium pay or whatever it is you call it, there’s cash waiting for you in the drawer next to the stove… Yeah, I know that I said last time would be the last time, but I can’t get enough of your cleaning, love… Fine, but be a doll and bring some of your friends. My parents will be back tonight and I might’ve downplayed the situation just a bit…” Cristian cancelled the call, as he jacked the volume of the music up and leaned back in his seat allowing the wind from his open window to whip across his face and throughout the car.
Cristian swung into the school's parking lot, climbing from his car and grabbing his backpack from the backseat. The money he was using to pay the cleaning crew was meant for his school supplies, but he still had his notebooks and stuff from last year -- they’d barely been used, because he’d never been much of a notetaker.

“Farmer Jane.” He called as he walked past a redhead that he had a class with Junior year. “I half expected you to start the year off in overalls and a nice pair of pigtails…” He stated the words slowing down only long enough to flash her a smug grin, before running off to catch up with some of his friends that he hadn’t seen since the night before.

Name: Cristian Devereux

Age: Seventeen

Gender: Male

Element: Zephyr

Bio: Cristian was born a Devereux and grew up with the life of luxury that had become synonymous with that name. The son of two successful professionals, Cristian was never without the things that made him content and he enjoyed a privileged childhood. While, Cristian was often prioritized second to his parents’ careers, he never dwelled on that fact -- he rarely dwelled on anything for too long. Rather, he made a habit of showcasing his impulsive, brash nature every chance he got, always resulting in a fast turnover for nannies and babysitters.

He never became too concerned with schoolwork finding more substance in life experience over classical education; additionally, having the promise of inheritance to quell anyone’s concerns about his future. However, when asked about his goals in life, he’d discuss for hours the things he wants to see and the places he plans to go… his desire to be free and to experience all the world at once.

Cristian has never been too attuned to what’s going on around him; however, in moments of great emotion and excitement there always seems to be a churning in the wind, yet the boy never quite picks up on the fact as he’s always caught up in the object that’s making him feel that way and less about his personal emotions.
I'm probably taking a couple of the parent/adult roles, since those are always kinda hard to fill.

Anymore interest?
I wouldn't mind playing Zephyr, when we get around to launching it.
Really interesed in the Elements RP!
Of course you can join, ha. And I was thinking more Free just because that we way we can do more fast-paced dialogue, so no worries about long detailed post if that's not your thing.

Which family were ya thinking? Or we're ya just gomna random?
All right, so I've been wanting to do a slice-of-life roleplay for awhile now and always love some family plotting as they allow for a lot of minor plotlines to develop. So, here's what I came up with:

There would be three families, though all are connected with another depending on the characters we create:

Family 1: Nothing comes before family with them. There's also the option for either of the spouse to have a child from their previous marriage to add to the complexity.

Family 2: Father's a politican and the mother's an ambitious professional; while, they have children of their own, they've taken to fostering children as it looks good for the husbands campaign. As a whole, the family is incrediably disconnected, yet they've mastered the art of appearing as perfection in front of the camera. There are high expectations placed the children to be the best at something -- music, sports, academics; however, the love and support has never been there as a reward to that good work. The husband is the brother to the mother from the first family

Family 3: A woman with nack for taking in problem cases.

Depending upon how much interest, we can always add a fourth family so that there's no like twenty kids in each family.

Also, there'll be little options to spice things up and challenge our writing. 1} Random family placement, you can leave this part of your CS open and I can place you where I feel like your character could have to most dynamic interactions. 2) Plot tasks that require specific characters to interact and play out certain scenes.
Still very interested. Are you moving forward with this?
