Personality: Daniel is an introvert and likes spending time on his own to "recharge his batteries" (hence the isolated house) but he also loves people and he is very friendly and social, often talking with others at length about nothing in particular.
Appearance: Daniel has short brown hair, blue eyes and a permanent smile. He is slightly above average in height and is a healthy weight without being too big, his work ensures that no matter how much he eats he stays fit.
Other: He has a golden retriever named Micky that he brings almost everywhere with him.

It hadn't even been ten minutes since they landed and they had already attracted some attention. On the top of a dune to the south stood a shadow, it rose from all fours onto its hind legs to get a better view of the large bird that had landed in the desert and the strange walking creatures it had given birth to. Jean pointed to it and said "Look, we have an audience," as he said it the lizard dog dropped back down onto all fours and began making its way down the dune, closer to them. It circled around them slowly and tasted the air as they made their preparations, being sure to keep its distance so it didn't provoke this giant bird and its young..

Kurt said and paced the room. "I could always call the doc, he'll do anything for money and with your... 'donor' and my illicitly acquired wealth we could easily afford anything he might ask for." Kurt said to Spiderbolt before walking across the room toward the phone to call the doctor for a ride, pausing a moment for his new partner's approval.

The contents of this page are in no way original, this RP is based on the epic web-comic Romantically Apocalyptic, made by Vitaly S. Alexius.

In the year... 20... something... something... Yeah, that works.

In the year 20-something-something the world ended. The biosphere of Planet Earth had changed due to radioactive and chemical pollution.
Wildlife-mutations began to spread and humans live in a highly polluted place called the city of Eureka. The outside began being referred to as the Dead Zone. An artificially intelligent search engine known as ANNET that connects directly into the minds of its users. Only 1% of humanity are unable to connect to ANNET. A man/woman known only as "ZEE CAPTAIN" "accidentally" spilled tea on ANNET's server banks, causing it to kill or zombify all of the humans that are connected to it, using these zombies to try and kill the remaining 1% of humanity. 99% of the planet is killed by a cup of tea.

Shortly after the "tea incident" A command is given to nuke the city of Eureka, this command kills most of the humans that survived the incident and the amount of nuclear explosives required to perform this heinous act tips the careful balance humans had that kept the planet tolerable and thrusts earth into a nuclear winter that kills most of the remaining humans as well as all of the plant life and animals that were not inside bunkers or other safe zones. The only survivors are those who, by pure chance or paranoia, were outside of Eureka and had the things they would need to survive a nuclear winter.

The dead zone is dangerous not just because of the harsh conditions but also because ANNET is still out there. ANNET's servers in Eureka were destroyed but her artificial children live on, scouring the dead zone for living humans. Their mission is to kill anything living, as were ANNET's final commands before the detonation.

These levitating, spherical drones are used for many purposes such as:
Companionship, Monitoring Unconnectable employees, City Maintenance, City policing, etc.

DEX:

Human-shaped, biped, semi-organic with options for male and female types.
Full of organs harvested from debtors to the Good Directorate Corporation™, and designed for missions that require "full on-interactions" with humans and special temporal missions that require blending-in.

Hunter Wraith:

Designed for rough environments and Dead Zone Terror entertainment.
Hunter Wraiths roam the Dead Zone in search of unauthorized visitors to the Zone to forcibly evict such from the park.

It has been 15 years since the beginning of the nuclear winter and the few people that are still alive have gone insane from the hostile conditions and the sheer loneliness of wandering the dead zone alone trying to survive.

Appearance: Dan is tall with short, messy brown hair. He is incredibly skinny but you wouldn't know it when he is in his outdoor clothes.

History: Duke was 25 when the world ended. He was one of the 1% that couldn't connect to ANNET and when all the people around him began dying or turning into mindless zombies that ANNET controlled and used to try and kill everyone Duke fled into the dead zone with all the stuff he could carry which, by pure chance, happened to include a gas mask and enough clothes to keep him alive during the nuclear winter. Duke stumbled across a dead city during his time in the dead zone and decided that he would live there. He was so lonely and bored during his time in the dead zone that he declared his small encampment Kajhetbarogurenburgh and collected all the mannequins he could find to be his subjects and officially declared himself the Baron, Duke Lordman Kingsly, of his new territory.
Other: Despite his prolonged bout of insanity brought on by loneliness and boredom Duke seems rather normal (besides thinking he is an actual baron and that his mannequin subjects are real people)

Appearance:


Special Skills: He is a skilled marksman, capable of nailing his mark with both rifles and handguns. He is also good at hand-to-hand combat and disabling opponents. However, he rarely ever uses these skills. Only when "Lethal force is necessary". He also seems to have an affinity for modifying existing tools into something that is more useful. Though, he can only do this when he has the right items. And given the nature of the Dead Zone, finding such items will be a rare occurrence.

Tools: A revolver with a good amount of ammunition. A modified Taser that can be recharged using a pumping mechanism attached to it. Worn and weathered Riot Armor and air-filter helmet.

History: Jared was part of the 1% (after all, how else would someone be unaffected?). After the initial chaos, he used the skills taught to him by his police officer father to survive the new hostilities. This, was already enough to shake his mental stability, though he wasn't quite insane yet. Before the nuclear strikes fell, he had somehow managed to salvage police-grade riot armor, complete with a air-filter system that was probably used whenever tear-gas was utilized. He originally obtained them in order to protect himself from would-be attackers. Coincidentally, it would also protect him from the ensuing nuclear winter. The silent solitude was the last push that drove him to insanity, and he began believing himself to be a police officer or Peacekeeper, whose job was to maintain law and order however he could. He thought that way in order to justify the harsh measures he was taking in order to survive the wasteland. He now wanders the Dead Zone, upholding the law to everyone he encounters, Survivors and ANNET Children alike.

Other: While Jared is indeed insane (from the fact that he believes himself to be a law-man), he is actually very amiable to people he encounters. Acting relatively normal and friendly. However, when someone "breaks the law" in front of him, he shifts into a cold and calculative state where he attempts to subdue the "perpetrator" and deliver the fitting punishment, regardless of whether the "perpetrator" is a survivor or ANNET drone (sometimes even regardless of whether they are living or inanimate objects). He also seems to abide by some set of "Laws" which appear to be a mix of actual existing laws, and things he's simply made up. He lives by it during every second of his survival, regardless of whether it is an advantage or a detriment to him.

Real Name: Marcus Damien Heller

Gender: Male

Appearance: He has black hair, pale skin, skinny body, and sunken green eyes that seem to stare through a person's soul under his mask. He carries around a creepy plush toy that he made from portions of his favorite "companions" throughout the years.


Special Skills: Gifted with speed and agility, Damien is capable of slitting throats or stabbing men in impressive speed. He is also has a decent reflex reaction and is quite good with hand-to-hand combat as he got himself trained out of sheer paranoia. Non-combat-wise, he's a decent tailor. But that's just about it.

Tools: An Eickhorn Advanced Combat Knife and a medium-sized bag pack full of items he hoarded while wandering around.

Damien was 28 years old on the start of the apocalypse. He was assisting a scientist that made monthly visits on the Dead Zone. Coincidentally, they were in one of their monthly visits on the Dead Zone when the "tea accident" occured. He and two other scientists (plus their guide) were spared from the initial effects on the start of the apocalypse (since people's neural networks were disconnected from ANNET when inside the Dead Zone), but not from the aftershocks of nuclear explosion. The aftershocks sent their vehicle tumbling away from Eureka, with them inside. Damien woke up hours later to find himeslf surrounded by dead people and most of his memories wiped by ANNET's rage. Almost completely clueless, hurt, but alive, Damien puts on his mask and walks towards the large expanse of the Dead Zone to survive.

Damien is... out there. Years of isolation and constant paranoia sent the previously creepy and slightly mentally unstable man into insanity. He "lives" in a department store toy store and had taken a liking to soft and fluffy things that led him to create a very comfortable blanket fort for himself. He also likes touching and feeling people to an uncomfortable degree, but freaks out when someone else touches him without his knowledge and approval. He always talks to the plush toy (named Mister Carny or Mister Carnaby) that he carries around almost everywhere and doesn't like it if someone talks to him/it without his consent. He can and will hurt a man if he sees it fit or fun.
