There are a lot of sea people
So I recommend making someone from the surface
As for gender
It doesn't matter
"Hm?" She shook her head to wake herself up. Taeyon appeared to be rather upset from this mornings encounter, so Edel went ahead and took a step inside of the classroom. She attempted to stand straight and not look groggy as she introduced herself. "I'm... I'm..." The girl forgot her name again, but after a few solid moments of thinking, she resumed her introduction, "Edelweiss Smithens, and it's a pleasure to be your new classmate." Politely the girl bowed her head down, almost falling asleep in the position, but luckily she stood back up just in time.
The girl didn't have a good nights rest, nor did she eat breakfast, so her usual slow behavior was slower. She sauntered over to sit in the middle row as the teacher instructed.
Yun-Hee trembled as he got close to brush her hair out of her face, he was uncomfortably close. She listened intently as he spoke about his past humans, all meeting with a terrible fate, which made her rather frightened. The petite girl watched as he fumbled around looking for clothing in a closet, she was somewhat interested as to what he was doing, but asking would be out of line. Obedience is the key.

After searching, he placed the clothing on the bed and demanded that she wash up. "Yes, sir..." Yun-Hee finally spoke up when he finished, her voice rather quiet as she spoke.
Yun-Hee stared at the maid outfit, then towards Ivan. He looked serious... Was she really supposed to wear such an outfit? She let out an awkward cough while she shuffled over to the bed. She took the maid outfit then scampered off to find the washroom(which wasn't hard).

So now Yun-Hee had the duty to follow the instructions of a vampire... It was funny, she never knew her life would head in the direction. She thought hard and long while she took a shower, half of the time she just stood under the running water with a blank look on her face. When she did finish however, she changed into the outfit and exited the washroom. She was now cleanly and clothed.
Edel giggled as he followed behind Taeyon, when they arrived at the entrance the classroom, she greeted Nakamura. She placed her hands on her cheeks and pouted, "I'm tired... And hungry... My face hurts." She remembered how her face collided with the concrete.

The girl let out a small sigh as she listened to the ongoing conversation about Nakamura's speed. She appeared to have dozed off and was now standing there with a rather blank look on her face.
Edel used to be unnoticeable, but now all eyes were fixated on her hand her friends. Land dwellers were so rude, her first encounter with someone from the surface gave her a very bad opinion on them.
The boy simply walked off! How could they be so rude to her? This made Edel confused, but she ignored that feeling when Taeyon had arrived and dragged her away.
She couldn't keep up with her friend, her jog was far too slow, so Edel allowed Taeyon to fling her around like a rag doll.
Edel caught a slight glimpse from someone quite a ways away, they appeared to have seen what happened. For now, she ignored that as well.

As the two got closer to the school, Edelweiss got a good look of how lovely it looked. She saw students- mostly people from the surface- all flocking to the large building. She slowed down and loosened her grip on Taeyon's hand, Edel could jog alongside Taeyon from here and Nakamura was most likely waiting for them at the school. Her slow jog made her fall slightly behind, but Edel was persistent to not get left behind again.

Finally, she stepped past the school gates and let out a long and exhausted cry, "I'm tired!" Edel yet again was gasping for air.
Edelweiss toppled over like a rock, she could see her life flashing before her eyes as her face came into contact with the cement. What in the world? The girl sat up and rubbed her cheek, thankfully she wasn't bleeding.
"I'm sorry..." She let out a small laugh and stood back up, the sudden fall didn't seem to phase her. Edel turned around to stare at the boy, who of course was a land dweller. My, people who lived on the surface appeared to be very rude.
"Hmmm..." Edel stared at him quizzically, "What was I doing again?" She rubbed her chin, "I forgot." The girl let out another whimper, which was followed by a question, "Who are you?"
You could try associating with Edel the typical airhead anime character
She's currently gasping for air after a one minute jog
"Ooh yeaaaah, school." Edelweiss chuckled lightly when Nakamura threw a soft punch at her. The two were well acquainted, so Edel was rather used to the playful gestures.
"Oh, good morning." Edel greeted Tayeon but was soon interrupted by Nakamura's sudden behavior.

She watched as her friend ran off embarrassed, leaving the group behind. "Wait... I wanna come with you~" Edelweiss lazily followed behind with a light jog, which was too much for her to handle. She flimsily threw her arms around already exhausted from the running, pretty soon the two were quite a distance away from one another, but Edel attempted to press on. "I'm so..." She muttered in between pants, "Tired!"
The petite sea dweller stopped to take a breather, she placed her hands on her knees and caught her breath. The girl was away from the group, and has now lost sight of Nakamura. "I faiiilllleeed..." Edel whimpered.
Time to flush it down the toilet, goodbye logic.

Good night
I wouldn't know what to say about the predatory part, although they could let them in once and awhile. They let the predatory fish in once a month for a whole week and when it's over, they chase the predators out and the barrier goes back up.
You describe the water that way, it's fine.
