Taro is noble and physically overbearing. He is not pragmatic, but is a person who lets history run its course and acts according to his impulses. While he is wild and somewhat inconsiderate to others, his ambition inspires them and ultimately results in their happiness. He is always jovial, values friendship highly, and he regards the bond with all of his squad members and fellow shinigami as important. Similarly he admires people who treat friendship with sincerity and is compassionate to those with whom he bonds.
He is not overly cruel as would be expected from a tyranical personality, but tries instead to keep bloodshed to a minimum despite his love for battles and destruction. He is fine with not actually winning the battle outright as he prefers to conquer his enemies by winning without killing and controlling without humiliating them. To him, a selfless leader who isolates himself from his friends to die for ideals is nothing but a fool, which is worse than a tyrant. He is also in opinion that a leader should be vibrant, a figure who is inspiring and leading his people, instead of being a distant loner who concerns himself only with protecting and saving his squad members. Ultimately, he would grieve and weep over his losses and mistakes, but he would stay true to himself and never regret decisions made as a Lieutenant.

- Zanpakuto -
Goriate (Goliath), Taro Zanpakuto is as always a regular Katatna in it's sealed state. The wrapping along its tang is a deep royal blue whilst the Zanpakuto guard is unique in the way that it is a 3D sphere or ball.

The spirit of Goriate is literally a giant. A tall mountain of a man that dwarfs Taro but is so lazy and stupid he dislikes to talk with his inner spirit. Taro is used to the idea of kicking it into shape but when Goriate gets angry, it's best to stay out of it's way. Taro is often asked to explain why his Zanpakuto in it's Shikai state adopts the form of two hammers, he tells them that Goriate is so large he can't possibly fit into one of them.

Sheathing his Zanpakuto Taro adopts a low and strong stance before stamping his foot on the ground which causes a cloud of dust to consume him. A few seconds pass before the dust settles and Taro is revealed holding not one but two single handed hammers (Smaller than in the picture). His attacks become incredibly hard hitting as you would expect with such blunt force weapons
Once released Goriate is capable of earth manipulation, hitting the floor or thick walls with either hammer Taro can force rocks and boulders to shoot out for him to hit at his opponents. He is also capable of striking the ground and forcing constructs out of the earth such as pillars or spikes making it very treacherous for any opponents.Taro is known to implement three main techniques, but is constantly kicking Goriate into giving up his other hidden techniques.

To begin Taro is often seen standing behind a large boulder which he will hit with extreme force, instantly cracking and splintering the boulder this attack sends a wave of rock shards in any given direction. Generally only used at short range this attack is hard to dodge with it's wide spread difficult to predict, it's damage output is also not to be underestimated as the sharp rocks can easily cut and dent almost any objects.

Secondly, by hitting the floor with both hammers simultaneously, Taro sends ripples of energy to disturb the earth in any desired location within his Reiatsu's range. A couple of seconds later the targeted portion of earth will almost completely be crushed and turned into fine sand, dropping whomever stands there into a pit. Often using this to trap his opponents it is similar to a quicksand trap.

The final technique and definitely the most powerful one Goriate possesses in it's Shikai state is also the most difficult to perform. By hitting any sized boulder, but preferably very large ones, with the handle of either hammer the rock will shrinks quite significantly. This forces rocks into submission by making them a lot smaller but incredibly massive. Using the same technique he does for normal rocks he can launch these smaller projectiles at opponents, but with the incredible mass they hold each tennis-ball sized attack can crush cars, topple buildings and has been known to cause earthquakes when striking the ground.

- Zanpakuto -
Buraindosasori (Blind Scorpion), Genji's Zanpakuto takes the form of a regular Katana in it's sealed state. A white wrapping around it's hilt and a crashing wave molded onto a perfectly circular Tsuba (Guard).

The spirit of Buraindosasori as seen below takes the form of a man in yellow clothing. his skin slowly gets bloodier from his elbow down to his fingertips and he has a devilishly deep tone to his voice. His hair is jet-black and his eyes a deep red. Genji is known for his ruthlessness but he sometimes warns people that they know nothing until they attract Buraindosasori's attention.

Slowly moving his hand across the length of Buraindosasori begins it's release, extremely loud tower bells can be heard by all in the vicinity of his reiatsu before Genji's Zanpakuto shifts from it's bright white form into a new shape. Now appearing to be a small single handed sickle with a curved blade flowing into a light wood handle.

Buraindosasori is a unique Zanpakuto in as much that it's primarily a poison type Zanpakuto. The poison which is known to be an incredibly thin layer of liquid that cotes the blades edges is secreted over time by the swords metal itself, allowing it to replenish and to deliver higher doses the more strikes are landed. The potent toxin has three stages in its Shikai state and each can be attained in succession by striking the opponent more.

- Kanken (First Sting) -
Kanken is the worrying but ultimately harmless first stage of the toxic effects, a single strike would be enough. The victim will find that they begin to ever so slightly slur their speech and when the increase in adrenaline begins, as it does in battle, they could start to see double. This does no harm to the opponents but it benefits Genji's greatly, with the quick nature of Buraindosasori's attacks they will inevitably struggle to cope thus resulting in more attacks landed. It has also been known that if the victim allows the poison to settle for too long it can prevent speech all together.

- Nibanken (Second Sting) -
The second stage of Buraindosasori's poison is much more potent, brought about once the victim has suffered multiple strikes. Weakness of limbs and at times excruciating muscle cramps are the prominent feature of Nibanken whilst slower reactions have also been a noted effect. This is an more severe attack on the victims body allowing Genji to abuse their weakened state and attack quickly and precisely. Making battle a very arduous and exhausting task it can sometimes distract and even prevent the victim from fighting back as, in bad cases, the toxin will take effect more prominently when the afflicted exerts a large amount effort or strength. The harder the opponent works the quicker the poison will travel in the bloodstream. Whilst it takes a long time this does mean the victim can excel the poison himself through action rather than Genji having to land more strikes. The stronger and larger the victim, the worse the effects will be.

- Sanbanken (Third Sting) -
This is Buraindosasori's 'Cout-de-gras' whilst in Shikai form. It can only be used once the victim has been cut many times and is most likely close to defeat already. The toxin Genji's Zanpakuto secretes starts to spread itself around the body the first moment someone is cut but only once a generous amount is in their system can it's true effects take hold. The agent works by inhibiting the production of an enzyme in the nerves that regulate signals to the brain, resulting in constant activity, a ‘storm’ in the nervous system that quickly overwhelms the body and mind. By appearance the victim will convulse and often spasm, in severe cases muscular cramps so strong they can break bone.
Genji can tell once the toxin has reached this stage in his opponents as their wounds clot faster and a sticky sap like substance can ooze from the cuts. With the simple motion of pointing his Zanpakuto at his opponent and muttering a phrase of command he can induce said effects.

- Chishiken (Fatal Sting) -
As Genji has learnt, our brains come equipped with a self-preservation mechanism that stops us from preforming actions that we know will harm us or avoiding situations in which we shall come to harm. This is because of electrochemical signals in the brain sent by neurotransmitters among other things. The toxin Buraindosasori secretes whilst in Bankai state is a concentrated strain of it's former Shikai. Blocking specific neurotransmitters, in a specific order, Buraindosasori's aim is to flip your brains preservation switch and re-order the electrochemical signals.
Some poisons have the ability to cause hallucinations, some asphyxiation. Buraindosasori's Shikai itself causes convulsions. It's Bankai though, simply put, makes you want to kill yourself.
Each cut the person has sustained send signals to the brain telling the victim that they are threatened by the wound, that it could result in death. The reaction a normal person would have is to retreat, however under the effects of the suicide-inducing neurotoxin the most common result is that they start to try and physically cut out their own wounds, obviously resulting in more severe wounds until they have effectively committed suicide through their own attempted self preservation.
