So one post that encompasses two months, rather than four months?Travel times are confusing me to no end. Do we need to take into account whether or not we'd have received a message when it was sent based off of how far away it was sent from? Do, say, our family's nobles travelling take longer to travel than just a messenger?

That is correct, yes.

Diplomacy is actually instantaneous, and can be handled ICly or via PMs. It would be a good idea for players to communicate with each other with both, to get all the deets ironed out without causing confuzzles. It's up to the two players to decide what happens when in these cases, subject to my approval if the actions need to be secret or extra-ordinary.

In your case, you could start your post having already received and responded to the message from Lady Dryden.

My apologies, by the way. I don't think I mentioned this in the rules.

Hah, aye, the plan "A" was simply your own protocol for inactives, but it got me thinking about opportunities for vassal wars and fun stuff like that when newbies show up to play And half a season works for me! At the very least just for the initial stages of the game, so that everyone can get their bearings at a slower pace and not have all their characters die of old age before anything happens

You're playing to my heart, Pelly.

Unless anyone objects to the half-season ruling, that will now be how this game shall proceed.
I like your thinking, Pelly. That's a clever solution.

Clever, and familiar. . .

*suspicious squint*

And there are others running for the bishop position, but I'm not allowed to disclose exactly who.

EDIT: Alright, Sadko, you're good to join on several conditions:

1. You inherit the lands of the House of Rurikovich, commonly known as Mouseking's lands. You're free to rename them however you like, and I will assist you anything Mouseking already didn't do.

2. You be willing to start the game with House Pajari and House Moskewitz being at war with you for control of the throne.

EDIT'S TWIN BROTHER: How would you guys feel about half a season occurring after every round of posting, instead of a full season? It seems a bit hard to plan ones actions on the day-to-day up to four months in advance.

I don't agree with you. Just because a nation embraces communism doesn't mean that the people living there are economically equal (just look at the various communist states of today). As another example, you could have a conservative, closed nation which is tolerant of other nations and cultures (as long as they stay away).A simple system for warfare will show up with the OOC.

If you put down your nation has high on the Communism scale, it means you expect your nation to practice everything that makes Communism what it is. If you're doing it right, then the people of the society will be equal. You can account for a nation having a certain ideology and not living up to it, but then you wouldn't put the nation as high on the Communism scale to begin with.

You could have a closed, conservative nation that is tolerant of other nations and cultures, but the extra values feel redundant. If a nation is generally conservative, it's of course going to be a more closed society. And tolerance is already sort of covered in the Government scales with the Hawk v. Dove thing.

The values are fine, and can cover different aspects of a nation, but it doesn't seem like the best way of categorizing a nation's policies.

I'm still here. If this keeps going, awesome, I'll be with it 'till the end. If you decide to reboot, make sure you let me know. I ain't ready to get rid of Lord Torak Harvestar just yet.

Hah, that wasn't a knock on you, you're good to do whatever you feel like.

I wouldn't consider rebooting unless nobody posts anything for another week. At that point, I'll declare this 'dead,' wait another week or two for other RPs to calm down, then 'reboot' this with an interest check, with lots of advertising going out. I'd let all the old players keep their NS's, and help them make any changes if I decide to introduce anything that would otherwise mess with your sheets, like giving vassals with their own territories.

That way, things will get off the ground quicker, and even if people leave, we'll still have a player base consisting of all the old players, and a number of new ones.

But, again, that shouldn't be necessary for now. We gots a whole 'nother week, and I already have most of the events for next season ready.

Is there still lands available for my kingdom? Would be lovely, even if just a small one.

I would direct you to the player mercenary page, but the silence of late has been disturbing. Some people who said they'd be back by now are not, and a few other people are engaged in completely different RPs. I'm very tempted to reboot this, since the start was quite rocky.

TL;DR: I have no idea. I'll get back to you on that.

In other news, I think a season is too long a time period to pass after every round of posting. Too far ahead to plan for. Half a season should do. Also, recruitment system for mercenaries is coming up, along with more character stat options, in case you want to prove to whoever's butt you're whoopin on the battlefield that, yes, Hodor the Mighty could indeed crush a man's skull with his pinky finger.
Just a lurker here.

There are a lot of similar scales in the NS. The government scales are varied enough, but all the values in the Economy and Society scales seem to be very similar. Care to elaborate?

Also, how is combat going to work? I know this is just the interest check, but there are very few details provided here. Nothing on recruitment, how much you can have, what it will cost, etc. Just curious, is all.

Ooh, yeah that would have been easier. However I'm definitely hoping that *this* version works out well and there will be no need for a reboot!

Just thinking about the future. I actually didn't expect for this to even get off the ground, since there's so many other active NRPs this summer, so I'm happy it got this far, and hopeful for many more posts.

That said, if this does need a reboot, I'd be more than willing to do it. I really like how this is turning out, and it's been awesome to work with.

Got my PC back , will be posting Merc NS soon

Tubular. If you have any questions, lemme know.
Hm, if I ever do a reboot of this, I'm thinking of letting everyone keep all their provinces instead of splitting them off to vassals, but then making everyone vassals who will split 40 points between them. That'd cause much less confusion.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around. I was on vacation in California, visiting the national parks and such. Unfortunately I had no reception/internet connection about 99.5% of the trip. I'll be posting my first IC soon in any case.

How rustic. Which parks? I'm not familiar with. . . nature. . .
