The lands of Merovah. A long and bloody history attached. Home of the varies kind of races. Dwarves, gnomes, different elves, beastman, orcs and many others... But the deadliest of them: The human.
Since the dawn of time, humans have seen themselves as the superior race, thinking of others as lesser. Other races were only befit for serving humankind. And so they did... Humankind started holding the other races as slaves, and it didn't take long for the first revolts occurred. But they were struck down, and the small amount of free people, fled north, into the Land of Valleys, while the land of Merovah now belonged to the wretched humans

But... with the power of a voice... The voice of general Stormvhak the races of the north rally once more, with the hope to crush the humans once and for all, and free their brethren and sisters from slavery. Will your voice be heard in the upcoming storm, or will it be lost forever!?

So yeah... this is the story for the idea of using your voices to talk with your characters. You can choose how you bring it. You can tell your entire post, like you're a reader... Or you take the separate lines and voice them over, or you just put all the lines in one file and just type out the actions. All up to you!

Biography/Background: Naturally it was looked down upon for a human to ever fall in love with someone who wasn't human. But that's exactly what Ryiah's father did. It started out rather simple, her father owned a Harpy as a slave. But it didn't take long for them to fall in love. For a Harpy, Ryiah's mother was beautiful with a voice like an angel. Soon Ryiah was born. The people had a riot. It was grotesque for such a thing as a hybrid Harpy to exist. Ryiah's father was killed in the riot, her mother and now the girl were sold back into slavery. They were originally sold together until Ryiah's mother grew old and died. Now Ryiah is left all alone, working for a wealthy and cruel family who bind her wings.

Adrian was born in Ottul, Merovah, a dry, dusty city, as a slave. An infant, unaware of the life he had to look forward to, he managed to roll out of the back of the slave wagon while it was being transported to the slave buyers. Elliot, a young man at the time, came upon the baby on the dusty path and did not know what else to do but to take it home with him. Only once he had returned to his small home, did he find that the baby he had picked up was an elf. Terrified of being caught with the child, but unwilling to drop the child off back where he had found it, Elliot decided to keep the elf in secret, with the intent on bringing it to the Land of Valleys when there was a safe chance.

Years passed by, and Elliot still had not given Adrian away. For years, Adrian was kept in hiding in Elliot's home, trapped in his safe haven. Though Adrian was not allowed out most of the time, he did make friends with another elf, a slave. Elliot let the young female elf come to see Adrian, and she would steal money from her master, and pay Adrian to tell her stories.

Biography/Background:
Jeremiah Cross, or Jeremy as most call him. Grew up in a small village near the woods. Out there they didn't have any slaves, in fact his village was a haven for those who had escaped bondage. And there was honest work to be found that the former slaves could make a living, carpenters, foragers, and trappers. Weavers, fisherman, and craftsman. Jeremy's father was just such a man, a former slave who was very talented in the ways of the bow and wood. He taught his son the tricks of his trade and life was good. Until Jeremy was about 17, finally some lord or whatever caught on and attacked the village, burning it to the ground and executing the villagers as an example. Luckily enough Jeremy and his best friend Roger were out hunting at the time and avoided the whole ordeal.

Yet, their village was gone. The boys swore revenge and left, joining the revolutions and hoping to strike back against the malicious deeds of the government, to fight for the beliefs their families died for. After years of fighting and losing Roger along the way, he seems no closer to his goal. Though there is hope, the voice of general Stormvhak, a man who rallies the north under his banner to end slavery once and for all.

Sir Benjamin Broadshield [+]

Appearance: Aging, with fair hair now going gray, Sir Benjamin remains an imposing sight. Tall and broad, arms and legs corded thick with muscle. His square jaw is obscured by a neatly trimmed beard, and his lone, dark brown eye shine from time to time with what might be a youthful vigor. His other, lost to battle, is covered by a bit of black cloth. He is most often seen in plate and mail, atop a warhorse, a heavy visored helm obscuring his face. A fine longsword is girded at his belt, and his shield bears his personal arms: a fist of silver on a field of green, broken shackles hanging from the wrist. Away from battle, he dresses comfortably, often in a simple leather doublet, a woolen tunic, and simple trousers, all of which belie his noble status.

Biography/Background
Born the second son of a wealthy nobleman in southern Merovah, Benjamin lived his early life in accord with his status. Slaves nursed him, cleaned his bedchamber, and cooked his meals. One slave, an educated elf, even tutored the young aristocrat, teaching him to read and write, to count, and revealing the brutal history of his people.

His elder brother, Jorik, was destined to take over the house upon the death of Lord Siskus. Benjamin, meanwhile, was expected to play a supporting role, either as a commander of Siskus troops or as a steward. Showing little aptitude for administration, he began training for knighthood by the time of his eighth birthday. At ten, he began to serve as a squire, first for his cousin Sir Aetius, and later for Sir Konnan, his uncle. Years passed, and, shortly after his assension to manhood, Benjamin was knighted, and served in many small-scale conflicts, participating in jousts and tournaments during more peaceful periods. He won great renown in this way, and became rather well known for carrying a great, heavy kite shield, earning him the moniker “Broadshield,” to differentiate him from Sir Benjamin Bloodaxe.

As the years passed and his name came to carry greater weight, Benjamin considered taking a wife. With the blessing of his brother, now Lord Siskus, he married Brienne Roux, the daughter of a rival House. They settled in a small fortified keep which he held in the name of his Lord brother. The marriage was happy enough, as far as the arranged ones tend to go, and there was genuine affection between them. Shortly thereafter, the first of their three children was born, a son called Jacob.

As master of the hall, Benjamin for the first time held direct authority over slaves. Only a score, give or take, and mostly elves. The arrangement made him uncomfortable, to say the least. His upbringing aside, he had moral qualms with the whole affair. But he was just one man, so what to do? He endeavored, then, to treat his slaves with a kindness few others showed, occasionally even paying cash bonuses to the most capable and loyal among them.

Time and again he would be called upon by his brother to lead the levies against this or that problem. More often than not rambunctious slaves were the issue. Ofttimes they revolted, crying out for liberty, and the blood of their masters. This could not be tolerated in the prevailing Order was to be maintained. Once, on one particular occasion, he was sent to slay a group of rabble-rousers, and, for good measure, to butcher the women and children and put the village to the torch. An example must be made, Jorik had said. But Benjamin could not do it. Would not do it.

Cast from his home and charged of treason, Benjamin fled, taking his horse Alexander, along with his arms. Caught on the road by a group of knights in the service of his brother, he was forced to fight for his life. Against long odds he struck down half a dozen men, forcing the rest into a route, but he was badly injured. He could hardly see out of his left eye. In time its vision would fade entirely. Wounded, and thoroughly disoriented, he wandered into an impoverished little farming village, and was sheltered by a local priest. In time he recuperated, and came in secret to visit a family of slaves working a nearby plot of land. An orc maiden, not seventeen by the look of her, took something of a liking to the old knight, and offered to repaint his now-battered shield. At his request, she replaced the old markings- a tower of red on a field of black- with the fist and shackles design that would grace the shield from then on.

For several years thereafter Sir Benjamin, now called “One-Eye” by his enemies, roamed the sparsely-populated quarters of Merovah, seeking refuge where it was to be found. When he heard whispers of a force of liberation marshaling to the north, in the Land of the Valleys, he began traveling in that direction. He hoped that he might, with his firsthand knowledge of Morovah and its methods of warfare, lend aid to Stormvhak and his cause. He was seeking personal redemption for his own small part in maintaining servitude, yes. But he sought a higher thing, as well, as all men sworn to honor and righteousness. And that was Justice.

Gnorlin Daggerspark/The Tiny Shadow [+]

No one really knows what Gnorlin looks like, apart from his close friends in the Crimson Daggers. According to them, Gnorlin looks like your average gnome with beard and all.

Biography/Background: There is often a feud between two rich human families. And these powerful families do not shun away from murder or other criminal activities to remain in their position. And what better way to get rid of an enemy, then to hire someone no one could ever trace back to you. Cause... what mighty and important family, would hire a dirty gnome to do their work?
And this was the fate of Gnorlin. Being born into the Crimson Daggers, an Assassin's guild, his fate was already destined. His mother was nothing but a playtoy to the Crimson Daggers, but as a boy he was to be trained. In the Crimson Daggers was one of the few places where Humans and other races worked together. There was slavery, but based on your performance, not on your race. Gnorlin quickly became a favorite, cause who would expect a gnome of killing?
Gnorlin held little value to the lives of humans. His mother was killed by filthy human in drunken rage. Gnorlin had the pleasure of gutting him. And now he had received a new contract. To take out the so called Benjamin One-Eye wasn't going to be easy. That guy traveled all across Merovah.

Biography/Background: Rif grew up knowing only one thing... humans weren't to be trusted. After his family had barely managed to escape human slavery, the dwarves grew up with a strong hatred of both humans and underground spaces. Well, hard to blame them when the humans had used them to dig their mines. So, the dwarves swore they'd never go underground again, and they swore they'd never be helpless. After that, they started raising the most promising males as warriors. That's where Rif came in. From a young age, the dwarves could see that he was a strong-willed individual, though taciturn. He was selected to be raised as a warrior, and now takes jobs as more of a mercenary for hire.

Stark white hair, black skin and heavy armor. A quiver full of arrows rests on her back and heavy armor rests around her body. She carries an Orcish sword and daggers, though her arrows are of elven make.

Occupation: Huntress and Vigilante for Hire

Biography/Background: While growing up in a small cottage on the outskirts of a nearby village; Wrathia was taught by both her Elven mother and Orc father various ways to defend herself, and survival skills. Her mother taught her the delicate fashions of the Elves, and her father the brute strength of the Orcs. She took to both well, and became a skilled hunter/warrior. When she hit her teens, she enjoyed running away from home to play in the woods for days at a time. Her parents did worry, but they understood. This aided her in sharpening her skills. One day at age seventeen, Wrathia returned home from one of her lone escapades in the woods to find Humans knocking on the door of the cottage.
She walked in the tree tops as her father answered the door; and saw him quickly apprehended by the Humans as well as her mother despite them fighting back. Her father saw her in the trees, and when she went to attack the Humans, he gave her a signal to stop. She watched them leave the house, her heart heavy. Taking a few days to prepare, Wrathia soon set out to find them.
She would find her father, working as a slave for the Humans in the fields and her mother.... Her mother....

Wrathia can't even begin to describe what became of her mother.

She spoke with her father in secret, pleeing with him to let her kill their owners, and free the slaves of the Humans... but her father declined. He told her He didn't want her to get involved, or get in trouble. He knew what would happen to her if she got caught... the same thing that became of her mother. With tears in her eyes, Wrathia fled from the place the Humans had turned them in to slaves; obeying her fathers wishes. She vowed one day, when she got stronger, that she would return and slice the throat of every human who dare call any other race a slave.

Biography/Background: My bg/bio is divided into some info specific to my character and then some info about this particular version of a Faery that I'm using. I put the info about the Faery type into a spoiler just so if you didn't want to read up on it you don't have to.

Wuenne is a middle aged Fae who comes from the largest settlement of Faeries who fled to The Great Forest northwest of Merovah thousands of years prior when the persecution and enslavement of non-humans became worse than the faeries could take. Her people are weakening now though, from so many years in solitude, and despite her efforts, the Council of Fae won't move to support Fae participating in a rebellion against the humans. They believe it too dangerous, and that the other races aren't really prepared for war either. For now she poses as a traveling physician in hopes of finding others ready to rebel in order to gather proof for the council that others really are rising up, and that their efforts would not be in vain. She would currently consider herself affiliated with The Legion of the Free, or just “The Legion” as she often refers to them, and considers their gathered forces to be the best hope she has for convincing other Fae that this is the time to stand up and fight.

At this time, a captive Faery is typically hard to come across, since they may escape rather easily into the Fae realm, but they still face the same dangers as all other non-humans do, and are almost always hidden in human disguise, even when not in human territory. Wuenne does not have a particularly sad or violent history. She only lived in direct contact with humans for a short while, and while she did work for humans, she personally was not enslaved; either way, she was forced to flee with her people when they did. Without humans to sustain them, they've turned to feeding from animals, which after several hundreds of years is proving to be substantially less “nutritional”..for lack of a better word. As a result, some fae are losing their wings, some never grow any at all. Other fae can't access the dreaming, or if they can it requires tremendous strength. Her main concern now though, is for the ever shortening lifespans of her people. Fae are dying in their one or two hundreds when they have historically been able to live thousands of years, if not infinitely. Wuenne is afraid the trend will continue until they're only able to live lives as long as the humans can, but even that is uncertain. As far as any of them know, they could be completely wiped out. Her people are literally starving to death, and Wuenne has had enough of it. She firmly believes Humans and other creatures can live harmoniously together, but for the sake of her people, she is willing to wipe the world clean of humans who won't cooperate.

Fae Info

For this particular brand of Faery I've picked up for this rp, their powers and life-forces are concentrated and sustained, typically, though feeding off of the feeling, dreams, and emotions of humans, or animals when humans aren't available. These faeries live on earth, but originate from the faery realm which lies just above the our realm, and it is known as “The Dreaming”. Most Faeries have access to the realm, but choose to live on earth where both their food(humans) are located, and where reality firmly exists. The dreaming, is more or less just a collection of dreams and fantasies and most Faeries opt to leave it very early in life. Humans and any other creature with the ability to dream have partial access to the dreaming while asleep, though most are unaware that they are in an actual place, and rarely ever do they use it to the extent a faery can choose to. Traditionally, Faeries were captured for their ability in battle. Though they are naturally nonviolent and peaceful, they were forced to help organize sneak attacks on other lands and kingdoms by transporting soldiers and supplies long distances while remaining virtually undetectable by the opposing forces.
