It's alright, Flooby - you really stumbled upon a masterpiece of an idea, and to keep going with it on its current flawed state would be doing the whole thing an injustice. I'll certainly be back come January; the Pelataria as is likely will not. But I'm looking forward to the future with you guys, whatever it may bring!

Cole put his soldiers in the wrong spot entirely.

He put *some* of his soldiers in the wrong spot entirely. You shouldn't assume Solterra has won until he has actually, y'know, won ;)

Ah, Heretic/Fortunes, was going to actually say- I did like that RP, quite a bit actually. I'd be happy as anything if you did one again. And trust me, I'd be more than happy to answer to any of your questions on kit, or just environment research- it was working quite well I recall, just I think a few kinks hadn't been creased out. You are exactly on the money with your response- head above water syndrome is hard, and I experience it with some of my military RPs, the only response being to just have a vague plan in your mind, change it when needed, and kinda direct yourself to an End Goal. Lima is coming closer and closer to it, and at the start of the RP, it is the last thing you think of- but over time, once you have four or so people that stay, you can really get into your own and craft a plot.

Aye - I remember you being at least a hundred times more knowledgable on the subject than me when Zulu was running. And I think that's a component for a successful military RP, too: having an expert around, especially when you're going for realism. As for that RP specifically, I'd love to restart it at some point in the future, but not now. I simply have too much on my plate.

Any chances of maybe finding a Co-GM?

This would certainly take some of the weight off of Flooby's shoulders. The problem is, you would need to find someone who wouldn't be biased, and wouldn't have any cause to use the information they get from being in that position to benefit themselves ICly. Although Flooby is technically "playing", he isn't really playing to win - I don't think he cares whether Rone controls the world or is stripped of his power, he just sets the status quo and lets us mess with it.

So if we did pick a Co-GM, it would either have to be someone trustworthy, or someone who isn't playing in the RP
Well, man, this is a good question. I've been wondering about the lack of this genre in the new site lately, too.

Military-themed RPs aren't my absolute favorite, but when I get in the mood to do one, that is literally all I want to do. And although there are certainly ways to make them original, I've found that the more original and complex it gets, the harder it becomes for a GM to keep their head above water. Take that Task Force RP I was GMing right before the old site went down. It was no trouble getting up a post or two for my ANA Special Forces Soldier - that was fine. Just like any other RP. However, I also needed to do extensive research on potential missions: where, realistically, could the team be deployed to, what could be going on there, the actual topography of the area, etc. etc.

The hours of research ended up being a strain on my time. The complexity of what I had created ended up being too much, and honestly, had the site not crashed, I'm sure the RP would have died anyway. That doesn't mean I didn't love that roleplay. But it was too damn much on my plate, which is why I've yet to create a new one like it here. So yeah, that's my rationale.

Last season's. I know, it's ridiculous. I need to find time during my work days to make excel sheets for every nation, because as the territory shifts become more frequent, the amount of work going into each update gets bigger.

It's cool! I imagine it must be quite a lot to handle.

I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss the deadline for this season's (again)

I'm disappointed about my lack of progress, but they should all be finished today.

Wait, last season's updates, or this season's? I'm all mixed up with that last time-extension
I half-did (well not me, the GM of a RP I had been a part of for years). Walking Dead Universe RP on the old site, with the 1st Installation ending with a massive horde battle and all of the characters' fates unknown, likely dead. But that's how we ended it! Like, the thread was done.

Then, we all got nostalgic and created a 2nd installation (a sequel, if you will), set a few months after the first one, with some characters dead, some new ones brought in, and a fresh storyline. However, that one died when the old site did. The 3rd installation died due to inactivity here on the new site.

It was amazing: at least the first installation anyway. We had our periods of inactivity, but at the end of a day it was almost like we were a family. Plus years with the same characters allows you to get really in depth with developing their personalities. I was so into it that I wrote an entire pre-outbreak backstory for my main guy. Didn't post it anywhere, just wrote it to write it.
For me, a non-canon Walking Dead Universe RP called Northwards was by far the best. It ran for perhaps three years, originally on the old site, and with maybe three different installations and one revival. I joined about six months or a year into it and, over the course of the rest of it I had written 50,000 words for just that one roleplay. And it was a Casual roleplay, not Advanced. Needless to say, that storyline held (indeed, still holds) a special place in my heart. I Co-GMed for a few months during the 2nd Installation, but the creator and GM (I haven't seen her since the death of the old site) is the primary reason why it became so great, along with a great group of RPers with a stellar cast of characters.

Also, sadly the man doesn't know who his fathers killer is, it could have been Lady Olga. Although, Solterra is an honorable man, if the man asks Solterra, he will admit to the assassinations.

He doesn't know, but it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots on that one. Cole called up Aldran's armies against Solterra, then Aldran immediately gets assassinated.
