@Ciphra based on google earth, and ImmortalComplex (damn I really gotta start calling him by his new forum name)'s very helpful description of Cougar Rock, i'd say it seems to be about a half mile from the nearest site. Also from the looks of it, you would have to pass the cabin to get into the campground, though that could be edited for RP purposes I suppose.. (Plus i'm sure there's more than one road in and out of the campground)

@Wired yeah, before makes a lot more sense - if it were after, it'd create a whole lot of confusion, as Jack likely would have noticed the bandits (and vice versa)

And @Wired, not sure when in the timeline James is at Cougar Rock, but if he arrived before Jack did, you would probably hear the four gunshots he fired either in that post or your next. Though he could have just arrived afterwards - just a suggestion :)

Also, never read Colfer's sequel to Adams' (amazingly written) series. I probably should get on that though. Hopefully it doesn't completely ruin my life.
