Glad to see you. Hope you post in the OOC soon.
0. Religious organizations - by those I mean organizations or individuals which hold great, almost all or all influence over a single religion right the Vatican Church, lead by the Pope, has over the Roman Catholicism.

1. Religious organizations relay on the dogmas of their religion being accepted to enforce it's will over large masses of people. It should be noted that dogmas usually are just beliefs they don't hold any notion of realism, trough it is not rare to be a influence of the real world situation in which the religion formed.

2. Religious organizations hold great power, even if not clearly seen, in the countries where they are greatly dominant. Power corrupts people.

3. Religious texts can be interpreted in many ways but religious organizations insist that their dogmas about such texts are the right ones. The fact that those higher in the religious organization can bend the dogmas to their liking is also common in religious organizations.

4. If you give religious organizations actual power or rule over the state it means that they hold even more power - leading to a faster and more widespread corruption.

5. If you are corrupted and have power you want both to keep and increase you power. So you remove all opposition and sent missions to bring your religion to pagans - or take their lands from their cold death arms if they refuse to do so.

END. Religious organizations are in the end mostly meant to give power to those which rule over them and for that sake are ready to do anything, even kill and erase from history. They impose a fixed social order, try to quell anything that would threaten their dogmas and generally are not positive, naturally there are exceptions to this to but they were and remain rare.
If they are given a influence (not to speak about practical rule) over a state it usually leads to even worse things as the possibility of their actions being stopped by the state to decrease. So nobody sane would want a union of state and a religious organization it usually leads to nothing good.
Leyya said, as she walked towards the exit: "Yeah, we should make haste, but let's not rush, we need to take water and supplies, get clothes suited for the desert and any other equipment that we might need. I have most of what I need but I doubt the same goes for you, I have been traveling the land alone for years and have, together with learning some basic survival from my teacher, learned upon my own, numerous, mistakes. So let's do a quick shopping for what we need and then head for the desert, if the experience from Lamakan desert holds true in Suhalla desert traveling at twilight and night would be much smarter as long as we clothe ourselves with enough layers of fur and sleep trough the day." She came up to the doors and said: "Well then let us go."
Soa looked at the woman and said, her voice sure of what it was saying: "One thousand dollars up front and two thousands each month you work for me in any form which fancies you. As for what we will be doing, let's say "saving the world" fits it perfectly and it will be extremely dangerous at some points, but mostly it will be less dangerous then living in the slums of this city. If you want a bonus for those rare seriously life-threatening moments I can even give you that, money is not an issue for this."
Soa sent a deep look into the woman's eyes - and just for a second her eyes looked like they seen and witnessed to much in their life - and then turned towards the crown focusing her eyes on the weird person clad in spiked armor and sensing that she needed him and he needed her so she let some of her power flow out to get his interest - she didn't know what would it do but if at that moment she cloud looked with his eyes around her a strong flame would have burning with passion and strengthen while a sword-like shadow would be seen behind her - appearing much as the fires that he sought and only appearing to the spiked armor-clad man's senses.
Accepted! Hope I see a CS up soon to.
Nice but I would suggest that a highly arid krast highland in the Kazuh Mountains with a single mountain pass leading out of it to a small west-facing coast or a area of desert coast split from Lamea by Kazuh Mountains, both somewhere alongside the west coast of Lemea, would be much better as a location for you country since otherwise the sturdy Orcs would braved trough any desert while settling in Lemea, only a great natural obstacle in which even they can't move and live without extreme troubles like the Kazuh Mountains would stop their advancement.
Knowing how to write (and read) is being literate - and the Church did their best to keep the secrets of writing and reading to themselves for a long period of time.

Most of the things I know from Wikipedia, ordinary encyclopedia and history books. All can be checked on Wikipedia.

I doubt that anyone here is attacking religion - hell I care if you believe in God or that cows are sacred animals - all we ask is that you don't bring any religious beliefs into government(s). Is that to much to ask?
He and only he should be able to hear the sounds of flames trough in a nosy and crowded bar those cloud be deafened by other noises.
I chuckled at the religion being good for science thing - it was hilarious due to the fact that over and over in history we see that states highly controlled by religion sooner or later start to work against science, with Christianity being just one of religions which did this.

As for your arguments writing was discovered for the needs of trade some 5000 years ago in ancient Mesopotamia.

Even before Christianity spread trough the Roman Empire German tribes begun to settle in the Roman Empire and become literate. The Roman Empire was also the one to spread Latin - Christians just took it so they spread their faith trough the Roman Empire much quicker.

Cyril letters were created by priests because at that time the Church eliminated anyone with the knowledge of linguistic except themselves naturally.

The printing press was invented in China and Gutenberg only improved it.

Both the Academia of Athens and Great Library of Alexandria to were crushed in the name of religion. Even today India is struggling to shake out of the Caste System imposed by Hindu priests. Aztecs sacrificed incredible amounts of people to appeal to their gods. So much wrong came from unions between states and religions that the risks heavily outweigh any possible rewards. Trough it is not that religions are a bad thing but when they are joined with the state it usually resulted in bad things.
You probably should have re-read my last post, especially the last sentence in it, before posting, well no problem since I will make the "sound" more audiable in the next post which will be made some time inside the next 12 hours.
