The constructs she had made with her earlier uses of Goshintai had been spread by now, moved to each corner of the world.

The declaration of war to the city had been made.

-And all beings in the city had been analyzed to the utmost with the Eye of Providence.

"The stage is set, the actors are in place." Erika hummed to herself, well outside the city boundaries.

"Now then, everyone, show me how you'll react. Show me how you'll struggle and fight to survive."

"And do make this entertaining."
"Ah, this is the life, eh ORT?"

Such were the words of the great Liam Ellis as he laid in the shade, his mind and body out of the effective radius of the parasitic Crystal Valley that had formed over the world around him. A replication of the Reality Marble of an alternate world, imposed upon Gaia and bled in with an impossible geometry and crystalline structure that would drive anything, man, devil, or god, mad simply by observing it. An ultimate defensive perimeter that was a world unto itself, with the NEET puppetmaster in its epicenter.

Beneath him, burrowed under the Earth, was his sleepy puppet ORT-tan.

This truly was the life.
"Ouch, harsh. Must be hard not to just give in to the inner voice and let it all burn to the bloody ground, huh? Well, then again, your magic theme was always weird with regards to the Sway, so maybe not."

Erika grinned, clapping her hands together. "As great as that sounds, I will have to pass. Y'know, someone might try and attack me during that seeing as I just declared war on the Shinigami and all, and I really don't want to have to deal with any more insects than I have to. That said, if you're still in town after I take over, I'd be happy to take you up on that offer!"

"Well, seeing as there don't seem to be any more questions, I'm gonna head off for the day. Goodbye Death City, have fun awaiting your imminent demise!"

With that, the witch of man blinked out of view, her magic signature leaving the city as she left just as abruptly as she had come.
"Oh, oh! This reminds me of a song!" Erika chirped as Neku ran at her, never dropping her grin.

As Neku was running at her, Devil's Maze was instead used on her, teleporting her several paces away as she launched another punch.

"Craaaawling iiin my skiiiiiiiin~"

The punch was once again met with a compounding of Devil's Maze, slamming into each of Neku's vitals and blasting him back down the stairs again.

"These wooouuuunds they wiiiiiill not heeeaaaaal~"

Given his current condition, death would be certain if he underwent another one of those onslaughts.

"Feeeeaaaar is hoooow I faaaaaaall~"

And then, Devil's Maze was about to be used on Neku, sending him up into the air, above the clouds, and leaving him to hurtle down to Earth with only gravity at his side.

"Confuuuuusing whaaaat is reaaaaa-"

-Only for James to make his offer.

"Erika's fine! Last names are so stuffy, y'know. Um...lemme check my records...oh! You're that pacifist, aren't you? What are you doing here?" Erika hummed before turning to Neku. "By the way, boy, it wasn't me. I'm waaay too young to scar your childhood, from the look of it. Besides, I don't have someone with your profile in my mental record. Sorry, keep sharpening that edginess of yours~"
"God, you're one of those 'edgy' personas, aren't you? I was never a fan of those, too wrapped up in 'muh tragic pasts' and 'muh sacrifices' and 'muh power of love and friendship' to ever actually amount to anything. Oh, and also..."

The smile Erika donned shifted, writhing from the carefree grin of a child to the sneer of an utter sadist as Neku moved towards her.

"Don't tell me what to do, insect."

Such are the words of Erika as she idly threw a punch forward.

Midgard Skin activated. Eye of Providence active.

Devil's Maze active.

Devil's Maze. Allows for a something to impose itself upon different spatial states of affairs.

From earlier discussions, you know what this means, but let's pretend you don't.

Say that you are standing twenty meters away from Person X. You throw a punch at the air before you.

Of course nothing happens. At this time and place there is nothing to hit.

But now throw another punch, and as the attack is made use Devil's Maze in reference to twenty meters forwards.

You may either send the attack itself, the physical form of a fast-moving fist, or the effect of the attack, a forward-oriented force that the fist would impose on whatever it met. Because you want your hand to stay attached to your body, let's say you chose the latter.

The effect of the attack then changes from being imposed on the current spatial state to one of twenty minutes forward. Meaning that at that moment, the person who was standing twenty meters from you was now hit by a blow from nowhere.

The time the attack affected wasn't changed, but the space was.

Next was the supplement known as Compounding. This spell allowed for Devil's Maze to do one of two things. Either expand its effective radius, or be used to make the same thing affect multiple states of space at one time. For instance, that once punch you moved forward, you compounded, so at the same time you punched their stomach, their head, their kidney, their liver, their heart, all from twenty meters away.

And of course, the Midgard Skin was a hardening of the body, making it resilient enough to stand up to Demon Weapons, and boosting the physical ability of the user.

All of this build-up had one simple effect.

Before Neku had ever reached the top of the stairs, he was simultaneously struck by ten different punches to a different part of his body, each carrying strength that would rival Fleshmonger's earlier attacks.

Of course, the head wasn't struck. She had no plans on killing anyone just yet. But instead of the glorious confrontation Neku had imagined, he'd simply be blasted backwards down the stairs, battered and confused.

To the onlookers, there would have been a brief flare of magic, and the next thing they had seen Neku had been knocked backwards by some effect of the magic, though the "mechanics" would remain unknown.

"Any other questions~?"
Erika blinked twice as she heard Neku call out. "Um...maybe? I don't know. Am I supposed to keep track of everything I destroy or something? Oh wait, yeah, I am. Eye of Truth can do that, right. Let's see what records it's got...cross-check...verify...hm."

Shrugging slightly, the witch let out another giggle. "Well, I'll just leave the answer to that as a firm 'maybe'. If you manage to corner me, I might consider answering, but given you got that beaten up from a low-level Kishin Egg, you'll have to do one hell of a training montage before you're at that level, eh?"
"Anyone remember how to say 'good morning' in Japanese? Something like 'oh, hi, yo'. Eh, I don't remember. Why am I trying to say Japanese things anyway? This is Nevada."

A distinctly female voice rang out as a girl, appearing as a grade-schooler in stature, stepped out of one of the craters that Fleshmonger had made, still clapping briefly before she stopped. A small curtsy was given to the spectators as she looked forward, a coy grin on her face.

"Well, at any rate, it's nice to meet all of you."

-And her eyes evanescent pools of absolute void.

"I've gotta say though, I'm kinda disappointed. I mean, I sent those guys with the expectation that you'd trounce them, but there was actually a bit of a struggle. Strug life for days, am I right?"

"Oh, I'm being rude. Yes, right, sorry, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Erika Schweinborg. I like tropical fruits and eating lunch on the roof. I dislike tomatoes, and petulant weaklings who don't know their place. I'm here to announce the start of a little game. You all like games, right? I'll kill anyone who says they don't."

Loosing a slight giggle, the witch tilted her head to the side childishly before going on.

"Well, 'what are the rules to this wonderful game, Oh Great Erika', you might ask. Allow me to help you out there. See, the goals are simple. Your goal is to kill me. My goal is to kill your god."

The air froze as the challenge was laid out.

"Time limit's indefinite, as we'll both last forever until killed, so yeah. Best of luck to all of you. Don't call me, I'll call you. If you'd like to schedule a date with me because I'm just too adorable, let one of the monsters I send here next time know and I'll try to pencil you in."

"Well then, any questions~? If not, I hope you'll understand, but I'll have to be on my way. It's hard work, being me."
Of all his possible reactions, Zyrik's was one of the least rational.

Moments after being jumped upon, Schwarz detonated, every ounce of his being being blasted outward in an omnidirectional wave of paradoxical black light. There was not even a soul left behind, its energy used to fuel the explosion ever further.

Predictably, the witch that had jumped onto him took the brunt of the blast. Had be been unarmored it would have been a certain kill, but as it was, the blast would simply move him into a near-critical conditions. He would survive, but his shonen protagonist-esque folly would condemn him to having to rest in the dispensary for days before he would be back at full health.

However, not all of the blast was absorbed by Zyrik, and some small amount of it propelled forward, almost all instances of it dissipating before it struck a bystander, however...
Birdman's talons dug ever deeper into its targets arm, clawing down to the bone with a feral sneer.

-Only for it to be blasted by another bout of Soul Menance, and moments later struck by the nearby explosive energy from Schwarz.

Such convenient timing can't possibly be logical.

And so, letting out a mad caw, the Birdman's body decomposed into nothingness, the claws embeeded in Neku's arm disappearing as a floating soul took the Egg's place.
The threat had been dealt with...in one way or another.

Why then...

Why then, did the feeling of danger not vanish?

Why then, did all those nearby now hear the sound of clapping, emanating from the top of the school steps?

And why then, did the air now feel heavy with the oppressive energy known as magic?
And with that last slice, Fleshmonger fell, his Projection shattering as he reached a state of death, and became nothing more than a floating soul that had done what it was ordered to.

...what, you expected something cooler?

It's a Kishin Egg. This is a Level Five random encounter enemy. You're not getting a treasure chest for winning.
Birdman let out a sharp caw as it was jabbed, the blow striking through to its internals and wracking its body, but still it refused to die. Snarling, the Kishin Egg tightened its grip on Neku's arm, its talons sinking deeper and deeper into the flesh.

If it couldn't kill, it would at least cripple.
Analyzing. Preparing available countermeasures. 37%. 72%. 93-

Schwarz's calculations were cut off my it being run into by a flaming child.

This was a weird day.

...initiating Burst protocol.

As it was run into, another pulse of light flared out from Schwarz as the energy in its soul began to build to a point, as if charging for some sort of ultimate attack. No, not an attack...

-An explosion.

It intended to end its life, as well as the lives of all those around.
Fleshmonger let out another roar, flailing around mindlessly as he struggled to keep up with the strikes of the girl. Another wound was cleaved into his body as his attempted blow struck the ground once more, small pieces of debris falling off of the front of the school from the earth-shattering strike, as the goliath turned about to face his enemy.

Schwarz calculation routine initiated. Analyzing enemy attack. Confirmed as flame, magical energy basis. Developing countermeasures. 30%. 65%. 97%. Developed. Initiating countermeasures.

A shrill tone emanated from the utterly black Kishin Egg as a thin "line" of black light, not unlike the earlier pulse, shot outwards from where its mouth ought to have been, and met the flames head-on, the clashing energies meeting and neutralizing one another.

Schwarz simply stood in place, a featureless glance cast towards its opponent as if to ask "Is that all you got?"
"Un~"

Meanwhile, the mistress of these pawns was busy recovering her magical energy.

She'd need to have at least a half-decent amount of power for the upcoming show.
