Bothered by March Madness coming up… I don't know who I want to pick for the title, lol.
Second post to get people out of the "What's Bothering You?" thread. Religion and feminism came up and has distracted from the original purpose of the thread, I am trying to fix that. So, if you want to discuss things religion and feminism, do it here or the other thread I have made (Religion(s) and Atheism).

Remember, be respectful. Thank you.
Alright, I'm making two different Topics so I can try and get people away from the "What's Bothering You?" thread. Don't want to totally disrupt what that thread is about (I'm partially guilty as well).

So, debate your issues or non-issues with religion here. Please, please, please, keep it cool. Don't be over-aggressive. No insulting each other. I don't normally make this a rule, because I am very guilty of using sarcasm within posts, although I've tried to stop of late. Please try and keep sarcasm to a minimum! Focus on what other people say, the whole of their message, and evaluate their thoughts and opinions on a logical level.

I'm not trying to be an ass here, but I think this question could be good for the group. Not everyone here is from America or the Euro-ancestral nations for the matter. That said, notable periods of history and well-known figures could vary pretty significantly. For example, if one wanted to place a story set during the Soviet-Afgan War, this period is very significant to many, but not really common knowledge in America. There are numerous other situations like this, so I just wanted to get some clarification. This is absolutely a criticism. I love the changes and this theme, and am happy to see the WOTM back and strong!

I actually had the same want for a clarification because I was thinking of writing a piece taking place during the Bakumatsu in Japan.
Fascinating… I think I actually have an idea for this too. Perhaps I will participate in this finally.
Also, not to get too distracted from the OP's question…

What's bothering me is that it's spring break, yet my professors decided to give me 20+ pages of script writing to do, an eight page exam paper, 300+ pages of reading to do, and another 4 pages of assignments. What's the point of a break if you're going to do that, lol.

First off, glad to see you finally on the New Guild Dark Wind :)

Good to see you too, Magnum :) Although, I've been around, just haven't participated much in Off-Topic, etc. Been especially busy lately.

Magic Magnum said In regards to Feminism. I agree that there are still some good feminist out there. But the amount of male doninancy sort of thinking is outright rampant in some areas.

Sure, there is a thinking of male dominancy. Is it justified? I'd suggest it is, considering the history of the world. I'd also suggest there are more than just "some" good feminists out there, I'd point out there are numerous good feminists out there. Outspoken, extremist thinkers do not reflect the whole. If they are given more media attention, it is not the fault of other feminists.

Magic Magnum said Also men have to face many cultural stigmas and discrimination too. For example, do you know that a common fear of women in ECE is letting men change an infants diaper out of fear of said child being sexually abused?

Again, I'm not saying that is right. I don't condone cultural stigmas or discrimination of any kind, and the fear of women in ECE of men letting men work with infants is misguided. It's also a bit misguided to suggest that that fear should be linked to feminism. Just because someone has a fear of a man working with children, does not make them a feminist.

Magic Magnum said As for Religion. No one here is saying that atheists have a right to force their belief on others either. We're simply saying religious people also shouldn't have said right. While also noting our own personal disliking of Religion.

Granted. Yet there is an outspoken group of atheists who want to yell how stupid religious people are and make fun of them for their beliefs. As is an outspoken group of religious people who think the same of atheists. Does this make either side right? I'd firmly say no. There are good religious people and good atheist people. The quicker we learn to accept each others beliefs without imposing out beliefs on others, the faster we can coexist peacefully.

Quick note before it gets brought up, I believe religion should be left outside of the class room. Especially creationism. Unless creationism is addressed within a theology course, which is a much different discussion.
that's okay wit me bby! i like collabs ne way.

Just told my mom you said hi… oops?

LOL jk.
Magic Magnum said listed Feminism as an annoyance.Cause they got to the point where women are equal (They still lack equality in some areas, but to the point it equals out to the areas where men lack rights) and are basically now turning into this movement that hates men and aims for female superiority.

Hmm. I disagree massively with this statement, however, I'm not sure if I'm ready to go on a huge discussion about it lol. We could make a separate topic, but for now I'll post here.

In the case of modern feminism…

1) You may have your members of the group who distort the actual goals of said group. This does not make the whole of feminism a group of women looking for female superiority. This is just false. That's like me pointing at atheists who harm religious people and saying atheists are out for complete atheist superiority.

2) As you pointed out yourself there are still aspects of inequality left for women. I'd also point out that places where men get shafted are due to certain inequalities for women and the way we view things (gender roles, specifically). Also, the biggest form of inequality for women is not necessarily these concrete things, but it is social inequality that is systemic within our culture.

Now, to the points of religion. I don't like religious zealotry, I believe we can all agree on that, maybe? However, you seem to be striving to make the point that a religious person should not enforce their views on others. Well, that has to work both ways. It is the religious person's freedom of choice to believe what they believe. It is the responsibility of both believer and non-believer alike to coexist.
it's k, i am a bit busy with family and friends. plus it's not like my professors didn't give me tons of work to do over the spring break. Oh wait… they did lol. So i've been busy with that too (actually kicking my work's ass lately)

so we're both busy, lol. in that case i suggest you get up a post. or we could wait to collab. or a post, and then collab. anything works.
