Current I am bad, and that is good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There is no-one I'd rather be, but me.

December the 31st 2029. New years eve.
The world is jubilantly primed for a new decade but war has been brewing in the shadows for some time now. Black ops teams work in hidden depths of society whilst hackers manipulate the world unnoticed. There are many factions in conflict with one another and, as things stand, it is no longer a question of if war will break out but when.

January the 1st 2030. New years day.
In the first moments of the last timezone to enter 2030 an EMP surge simultaneously disabled electronics worldwide plunging a world dependent on technology into chaos. The identity and intent of the perpetrator remain a mystery.
This near-future rp starts a week after the events of January the 1st 2030 and is centred around a UN sleeper cell (who you guys will be playing) and their activities in the aftermath of this world shaking event. It will contain elements of sci-fi and take somewhat from post-apocalyptic themes. It is however important to note that it is not a post-apocalyptic roleplay. The world can still recover from this disaster but action needs to be taken fast. Efforts to alleviate the effects of the disaster must be made and the perpetrator of this crime must be found and held to account as society falls apart around you.

The UN requires its agents to be capable of operating independently for extended periods of time, anywhere in the world and of blending into civilian populations. As a result the agents are picked primarily for their civilian and language skills then given highly intensive training in military skills for two months a year. The rest of the year the agents are asked to live out civilian lives and are responsible for the maintenance of their own combat and civilian skills. To represent this player characters will have one general civilian specialisation/job role e.g. Engineering/Medicine, and then two specific combat specialisations e.g. Sniping/driving/explosives/etc. naturally this being the future your characters will have and acquire some nice gadgets as they go along.

For a general feel of what is in store you can view the breakdown trailer for the upcoming title Tom Clancys: The Division. The previews of the game gave me a lot of the inspiration for this roleplay. The trailer is in the link below.

This rp will (unfortunately) have rules. So you don't get hyped up, dive into the ooc/ic, then decide this isn't for you here are the rules:

-Please be respectful to your fellow gamers.
-Please respect the site rules. Particularly those regarding the more graphic elements of romance. If the characters become engaged in such activities please fade to black and/or take it to pms.
-Where possible if two characters are having an extended exchange of some sort; physical or verbal, and it does not affect/involve other characters please create a collaborative post. This avoids filling the wall unnecessarily.
-Please do not auto-hit enemies unless it has been expressly permitted (I will place an OOC comment at the beginning/end of a relevant IC post stating auto-hitting is permitted. Most of the time auto hits will be permitted). An auto-hit is in attack for which the effect of the attack is written by the person who declared it within the same post (E.g. John fired at the assailant hitting him several times in the chest and downing him permanently.). When auto-hits are not permitted please say what you're character trying to do to attack his/her enemies. I will then write the effect of that action on the target. This is primarily for damage scaling reasons and I promise not to overuse or abuse it.

If you cannot abide by these rules this roleplay is not for you.

There are also some criteria I would like players to fill before joining:
-Players should be able to post at least once every three days. I understand life gets in the way and if you have issues at some point throughout the campaign that will prevent you from meeting these criteria please tell me so I can work around it. I in turn will try to keep you up to date should I have issues.
-I'd like to see a roleplay sample before you move over to the OOC thread. Please pm me your sample and wait for a reply before moving over to the OOC thread (once it is up). A link to some of your existing IC posts will suffice if you are already active in another roleplay.
Just did some catching up on the IC and thought it might be worth noting there are some really high standards in the posting on there. New Yorker, yours are particularly good.

Really like your cs nytefall.
Jason stepped warily into the boss room, his senses on high alert as he visually scanned the open-topped environment. The section appeared to be the one of the most complete structures of the swamp which was otherwise dotted with nearly superficial scraps of ruins. Jason's eyes absorbed every possible detail of the room they could, examining the floor for loose flagstones a boss could burst up from beneath, assessing the gloomy lake in the centre, checking the walls for crumbly sections or gates that evidenced a boss entrance, looking above for cues about a boss from above before finally flicking back to the lake. The lake seemed too big a detail for Jason to dismiss as a coincidence and he suspected that, of the options, that would be where the boss would appear from.

When Lucy spoke to Jason he replied with a cheeky two fingered salute of acknowledgment employing his shield hand and a snappy "Yes ma'am.". His apparently nonchalant response was in fact primarily a facade to hide a raging bundle of nerves within that had built with the now imminent boss battle. If anything the tension before the battle felt worse than the battle likely would. Jason added "I'll send you a party invite." In a more normal tone and sent a invite as swiftly as he was able.
Working on a reply. There will be one.

Edit: done. No need to wait any on account of it though.
Not particularly happy with the quality of my post but it will have to do. I can't seem to find any length of time in which I am left alone to write...
Jason moved on up towards the door of the boss room where Rorik was making his scene staying close to Lucy as he did so. Lucy was the only person close to a friend Jason had on this raid and Jason didn't particularly fancy parting ways so soon after meeting. Jason had also noticed the large, deadly looking two-handed straight-sword Lucy carried. It looked as though their combat styles were very different and, if this were true, then they might make a decent partnership in combat, covering one another's weaknesses Jason thought.

Jason quickly reached the shocked looking defensive line of guildsmen blocking access to the door. The men and women of the guild were attempting to hold back the crowd as per their guilds instructions however Jason sensed they lacked resolve now, possibly torn in their loyalties by the unproven but heinous plans of their higher ups and intimidated by a large and angry raiding party. Many of the raiding party were being rough with the guild members, pushing, shunting and generally venting frustration on them as they pressed past but Jason, unkeen on acting as both judge and prosecutor in a case without evidence, let them be as he made his way to the front of the surprisingly unified crowd.

"Cover the anger and ravenous rage,
make it a part of your power!
Pummel'em down, let your bloodlust engage.
Under your force they will cower!..."

Rorik's rhyming speech came as a surprise to Jason. Crazy as this man was he certainly had a flair for the dramatic. Shortly after the speech finished the doors to the boss room opened and the raiding party entered.
Not really much I can post right now that will further the plot particularly besides which I am knackered. Gotta sleep. Sorrynguyszzzzz...
Well I thought so. Do I sense a player character relationship coming on?
Adrina and Hatsu sittin' in a tree. K.i.s.s.i.n...

Holding hands. In a swamp. :)

So far the IC has been a lot of fun. Character relationships have built up in completely unexpected ways and it looks set to continue that way.

Also Rorick looks pretty cray cray from my pov atm. Just sayin...

"Allen, allen, AVELINE! Oooohh. A dungeon guarded by a guild? Solo CHARRRRGE [of doom]!" <-(please note some details may have been lost in translation.)
I reckon he must have some interesting background details to discover.
A good read. I really like your in game character appearance too.
