Vin Diesel has a habit of doing things himself far better that the supposed experts. He founded a game dev company called Tigon Studios to create games based around Riddick, with the purpose of creating some movie video games that weren't awful. People scoffed at him, and yet the Riddick games were both excellently received by players and critics. He's also written, produced and directed his own films, several of which made it to and were well-received at film festivals like Sundance. He's a pretty damn impressive guy.

I think it's a pretty interesting engineering project, a cool idea for a music video, and utterly irresponsible and moronic. I'm not precisely a stickler for following the law to the letter, but as they themselves said, there's laws against this stuff for a reason.
