Boredom. Spam isn't generating as much drama as usual, and we all like eachother too much to actually be awful to one another most of the time these days, so we bitch about the new guys and make that a thing instead.

No, on so many levels. The new Pope is the exception and is hopefully heralding a new era of Catholic tolerance and development, but up until this point they still ferociously condemned contraception, homosexuality, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Actually, I didn't attend a "Christian" school. Normal schools are like that here in Britain - everyone, regardless of religious faith, sings those hymns in primary school (up 'til you're about 12). I went to private school for a couple years and they had to sing them in high school too. As I remember it, my primary school religious education was very Christianity-focused as well. The payoff is that once you get to high school it's much more multicultural and pluralistic.

Living in Britain = super-mild (admittedly, also grey and bleak, but still mild) weather most of the time. :D
