Only because people are sleeping half the time.I've personally been inactive due to time constraints. Any time I'm not at school or at work, I'm trying to do homework, which I can do simultaneously with Skype. Unfortunately, that is not so easy with Spam, where I have to actively click threads for updates.I should be back on track to bore you all again come late spring/early summer.

Clearly I'm just checking in at the wrong times. >_>
I honestly see nothing wrong with arguing for the sake of arguing. It's a game. It makes you think, even if the points you come up with in the minute it takes you to reply aren't the best thought out ones you could have come up with. So what if it was a stupid argument and people weren't putting their all into crafting the perfect arguments? It's no better or worse than any other random activity people do for entertainment.
Does completing video games count as an increase in productivity? The eternal question, man.

The best part is that there is 0 point to this debate. Neither side truly wants to move from where they stand rendering the whole debate useless. Nex can have his opinion as is his right whether people disagree with said opinion or not. To be honest it is just as valid as any of the other opinions stated by others. So stop the pissing contest people./srsbusiness

Actually, to be fair, I conceded that it may be fair to ask a degree of assimilation in a cultural aspect (but not in terms of their political ideology or choice of party). Still, I don't think they're doing it for anything more than fun and interest. I was just doing it because it's fun. There's debating in search of truth/understanding, debating for the purpose of propagating your viewpoint, and there's debating for interest and fun. This seems to be the last.

Some people just can't let go of an argument.

That should only extend to those who are willing to assimilate and identify as members of the country they are living in. Immigrants should not expect the land they're moving into to accommodate to them, it should be the other way around. If you choose to move to a new country, you have made a concious, voluntary decision to either resist the way of life in that country or adjust to it.Another important note: the border drawn between the Ukrainian SSR and Russian SSR was completely arbitrary. The problem could also be solved by shifting the borders so that the lands populated by ethnic Russians and that speak solely Russian and identify exclusively as Russian be included as part of Russia. However, I think changing borders would not only be rejected angrily by the people organizing and participating in Euromaidan, but also be even more unfair than giving Russians incentive to leave.

Additionally, perhaps culturally they should make some effort to assimilate, but their political ideology should not have to change. That defeats the point of democracy.

It is not the fault of those caught on the "wrong" side of this arbitrary border, and they should not have to move to another country and uproot their lives because of that.
