The pointless thread began as another of Nat's numerous inanities, fated to become lost in the depths of Spam like most of his threads. It randomly coincided with an influx of newbies to Spam, however, and ended up being hijacked as a casual conversation thread for them - a subcommunity within Spam that differed immensely from the rest of Spam, which, ultimately, caused friction and drama and complaining on both sides. The original six or so newbies who blew the pointless thread up were joined by others, both old and new, their numbers incrementally going. The pointless thread eventually became one of the largest threads on RPG with, I believe, nigh on 40000 posts, before at long last being abandoned as its members either drifted off-site or integrated a little more fully with the rest of Spam. It received several necros before finally being locked for good.
