A low guttural groan escaped the lips of a young man as he turned over in his bed, the sunlight invading his sleepy eyes. He quickly covered them and turned back over to look at the clock. It was 2:00 in the afternoon which prompted another groan from Manny Rodriguez.
"Oh fuck off are you serious?" Manny had just performed at a gig the night before and like usual he woke up late with a massive hangover. He surely loved to drink, but hated how he felt the next day. As usual he would whine and pout that he would never drink again but would do it the next night. After clasping his hands over his face for a few minutes, he finally forced himself out of bed and into the restroom where he proceeded to puke his guts out in the toilet. He normally took some pain pills before passing out, be he forgot to do so which he for sure felt the consequences. One of the reasons he was so pissed was because he was supposed to wake up a bit earlier to film a video. On top of being a makeup artist and a drag queen, he filmed makeup tutorials and posted them onto YouTube. He barely started his channel a few months ago and already had over 300,000 subscribers. Obviously people liked his work. He was known for making glam makeup and also SFX gore makeup. Not to mentioned when he did gigs around the countries, he made sure to tell them about his channel so they could see his work. His channel and drag got him makeup jobs on movie sets and other exciting things.
After Manny got himself together, he made sure to put some nourishment into his system. As he was eating some leftover pizza he had in the fridge, he multi-tasked with setting up his ring lights to film his video. He set up his makeup mirror and finally turned on the camera. The look he was going for was to transform himself into Lana Del Ray and then turn himself into a zombie version. After filming, he put his things away and edited his video to upload.
When Manny had turned on the television, immediately there was a breaking news about EVOs. His kind always made front line news since they were exposed. He put his hand over his mouth when the showed footage of none other than Claire Bennett getting shot in the head during a press conference. He shook his head, knowing what was soon to come. This was going to spark outrage and this is just what they didn't need. Hopefully the blonde girl would be alright since she could heal, although he didn't know how well since she was shot in the head.
When the news was over, he grabbed his things and headed outside to his car. He had to make it to Studio City for a movie set job he was hired for last week. A horror movie which he was excited to be apart of. He also had a drag gig that night at Rage so he hoped he would be able to make it. Rage was the biggest gay club in LA and they paid big bucks especially since he was so popular. Not long before he made it outside of his apartment, there were people rioting in the streets. This was exactly what he predicted. Manny made sure to jump out of the way before he got hit with glass bottles from these angry people, most of whom were either EVOs or people that didn't like us. Manny suddenly jumped in front of his car as someone was about to break his windows in.
"Unless you want your ass whooped, I suggest you not," Manny said sternly. Without hesitation, the man ran off and began busting up other people's cars. Just then he felt a rumble beneath the ground like a mini earthquake. An earthquake was the last thing they needed right now. However something caught his glance from far away that was really tall and moving. Manny couldn't quite catch a glimpse of it so he concentrated and turned on his ability. His eyes turned into a microscope and zoomed in on the moving figure until it seemed he was directly in front of it. It was a Hispanic looking woman stomping around causing trouble. An EVO obviously as no ordinary chick can make herself the size of a building. After she went out of view, Manny reset his eyesight and jumped into his car, driving off to the movie set. He was not about to stick around for this and his money was more important.

STAGE TWO: [Sense Focusing] - User can focus their senses to look for a particular sight/sound/smell/taste/feel and blocking out all others. By nullifying the remaining four senses, one can heighten a single sense to it's maximum potential. They can see at a subatomic level and through multiple spectrums, hear from miles away or use echolocation, smell someone's hormones, taste every single element in a bite of food, or feel vibrations deep in the earth and rub a hand on a piece of written paper and be able to read what it says like braille.
STAGE THREE: [Sensory Deprivation] - User is able to numb/decrease the senses (sight, taste, hearing, feel and/or smell) of others temporarily. This power can be used for monetary distraction and decrease the senses to the point they are effectively nullified, having them completely lose all connection to the real world.
STAGE FOUR: [Imperceptibility] - The user is totally imperceptible, and as such can in no way be detected or communicated with by another person. They cannot be physically perceived, and are invisible by smell, touch, vision, hearing, etc and give off no heat or leave any evidence of their presence, yet the space they occupy has no lack of it. To all senses, the user does not exist. Background:
Manny was born an only child in Azusa, California to a Mexican mom and a white father. After he was born, his father abandoned the both of them, leaving Manny's mother alone to raise a child. Times weren't always good. Manny's mother had to work two jobs to support the both of them and were on just about every type of government assistance program there was. There were often times that his mother contemplated suicide because she couldn't handle the stress with raising a child on her own. Often than not, Manny would be left at his grandmother's house while she would be gone days at a time to find herself. One thing is for certain though; Manny's mother did love her son.
When Manny was 8 years old, his mother met a man and began dating him. It wasn't before long that she married him and he moved in. He had a very decent job and she was happy there was a man to help support the two of them. However things only got worse from there. Manny's now stepfather turned out to be an abusive alcoholic who would beat both him and his mother. He would degrade them verbally when he was intoxicated and made their lives hell. Manny's mother felt she couldn't leave him because they had no way of financially supporting them on her own and she felt in too deep with her husband. This abuse carried out until Manny was 15 years old when he had enough. This was the time Manny came out to his mom about being gay. His stepfather overheard and beat him for it, calling him every type of homophobic slur there was. He packed his bags and ran away to live with his grandmother, leaving his mom alone with that man. He loved his mom, but he couldn't be under the roof with that man any longer. Not to mention people at school were noticing Manny would come in with bruises frequently.
It only took a few months with his grandmother for his mother to come to her senses. She refused to put a man over her son and decided to flee to be with her son. She filed a police report and divorced her husband soon after. Because of this experience, Manny felt obligated to start a group at his school where everyone could share similar stories. He was the head of the GSA club and became an activist against bullying and abuse. Things started to get better and Manny soon graduated high school at 18 and went to community college for cosmetology.
Manny had always had a fascination with makeup and wanted to use it to make others look beautiful. He studied cosmetic makeup and also began doing SFX work since he was a big fan of horror movies growing up. Around this time is when he began going to 18 and up bars in West Hollywood and discovered the art of drag. He started using his makeup skills to create a character who was queen of the night and gore. She was known as Dahlia Deranged. After booking many amateur shows, Manny became a well known drag queen all over Los Angeles and was known as the spooky, pretty queen who looked stunning as a man and as a woman. All was good until weird things began to happen to him.
It was no secret to the world that they know EVOs exist ever since Claire Bennett exposed them on live television. Manny just didn't think he would become one of them. During a show at Rage in West Hollywood when he was 20, Manny had become real dizzy while performing on stage. He tried to fight through the nausea and keep performing as a rush of things he's never felt before began to bombard his brain. After he finished his show, he went backstage to throw up in the bathroom. Just as he came up for air, his ears began to ring as the sound amplified all around him. He was able to hear what was going on outside of the club. The stench of his vomit intensified and could literally smell every content of the alcohol he drank. His vision kept zooming in and out as he tried to leave the bathroom stall. All of his senses were being amplified at once and it was overloading his brain. Manny soon passed out from the pain and woke up in his friend's apartment with a huge hangover. He could vaguely remember what happened the night before. However after a few hours, his senses began to act up again. He kept receiving voicemails from some guy named Mohinder Suresh saying they needed to get into contact immediately. Something about evolution. Manny was in too much pain to really care to listen. After a few weeks, it started happening more frequently to where he could get a better handle on his new abilities.
Now at age 22, Manny has gone on to be well known makeup artist/SFX artist in the mainstream industry as well as a well known drag queen in the country. He plans on going to New York for few weeks for work. As far as his abilities go, he is now at stage two of his power with almost complete control over it. However at times they tend to overload his brain every now and then.
