As Isiah approached she pressed a happier, nonchalant look onto her face. "I sincerely doubt that. I have nothing they can gain. I'm not a real princess, only because my father wanted me to feel equal did he give me the name of a princess but all in the castle know that I am not. I'm not even sure I have a dowry." She had begun to ramble a bit but slowed her speech and her pace. "Besides, no right minded man wants a false princess. A bastard." Her smile was meek and she realized she had been clutching her dress in tight fists.

All of her life this is what she'd been told. That she was lucky to live in the palace. That she was a guest more than anything. That if not for the late king's kindness she's be a simple brothel whore. Despite what she'd been told, she believed it true, if not exaggerated. A nobleman wanted a small, delicate woman to call a wife. A woman from power. Any man to marry Lorelai would get no power and simply a small home and a few servants. If they were lucky they would live in the castle but all of that depended on the king. She was not eligible for the crown, not unless something happened to Irena and Steffan and so long as they both lived with the potential of children on the horizon, Lorelai was a guest. Not as though she wanted to rule by any means anyway.

"That's just how things are." She said, letting her hands dangle at her sides. She smiled but it seemed listless.
Lorelai felt both sad and happy at his words. She was happy because he believed her worth of finding a man and having a child but sad because she doubted she would. However she still turned to him and smiled. "Thank you, my friend. But I doubt that that day is mine to have." Her lips pressed in a thin line and she wanted to smile more than the grim line allowed but couldn't. Instead she walked a few steps ahead so he may not see the melancholy expression she wore.

Lorelai smiled as the baby held Isiah's finger. It was funny to see such a big, strong man hunched over a child like that. She returned the child to it's basket and put him beside his mother. The princess stood, wiping her skirts. She seemed a bit reluctant to leave the child but they had other things to do that day. She stretched as she took in the picturesque family. A strong father, a kind mother and a son with infinite potential all tucked on a simple plot of land.

That's what Lorelai wanted. That peaceful bliss and a family she could call her own. However, that was as good as a fairy tale.
Lorelai sat in the grass, cradling the giggling child who held her finger. The child's mother sat in a rocker on the porch, eyes closed, relaxing a bit since she didn't have the baby in hand. When Isiah returned Lorelai looked up at him and smiled. "Oh isn't he wonderful? His name is Jonathan. A strong yet gentle name." She stroked the soft baby hair on his head, adoring everything about the child.

At her age it was uncommon not to have a child and even more so not be married. Perhaps it was this unspoken rule that made her so fond of children. She knew no man would have her as a wife and so decided if no man wanted her heart, his child was not worth bearing. However, she still loved children, especially the flawless, pure babies.
Lorelai laughed. "I wouldn't call you awful. It only happened because you were being a knight. Saving everyone and putting yourself before danger is you job after all." They reached the blacksmith where a man worked in a hot hut. Metallic banging could be heard. A soft faced young woman, no older than thirty, was hanging laundry to dry while a plump baby sat in a basket at her feet, cooing a bit. Lorelai's face lit up at the sight of the rosy cheeked infant.
Lorelai shook her head. "I'm just happy to go out into town. It's been a while." Though illegitimate, she was still royalty and wasn't allowed into town with a guard and even though Isiah was technically off for the day, she didn't think she'd get into too much trouble since she was with him. "Though the last time I was out, the black smith's wife had been pregnant, so I'll get to see her baby." She said, clasping her hand with a smile of excitement.
I could make Lori's mother, have her find Galen or something so you can still active. Maybe Galen knows she's evil but not her relation to the princess?
After that wonderfully awkward situation, Lorelai followed Isiah until he stopped to take a breath. "Yes, I believe she intended to make my head explode with that vicious gaze of her's." She giggled a bit, wanting to keep things light and normal. However, deep down she was having a battle. Part of her felt bad for upsetting her friend, even though it wasn't directly, but another part felt strong and victorious just because she was now able to spend more time with Isiah. When did things become so complicated in her life?

"So, what is first on the off day for a knight?" She asked with a tilt of her head.
"By all means." Lorelai said with hand gesture for him to lead the way. "Good morning, Irena." the princess smiled up at the queen. "I do hope you don't mind I steal him for a bit." Lorelai pushed down the monster that crawled around his stomach. That monster wanted her to sound proud. It wanted the bastard princess to lift her chin up and look down upon the queen. But that wasn't Lorelai and she knew it. So she kept her voice light and pretended not to notice the way the queen's voice sounded.
