Let me tell you the tale of how the devil met his match...
It was a dark and stormy night, which is to be expected since this is hell we're talking about, when she arrived. Knocking upon his door all he saw was a cloaked woman covered in blood rain, the king of darkness repulsed by the smell of death radiating off of her. Sure hell smelled of death but no spirit ever smelled this rotten! She asked just for a drink but he refused, slamming the door in her face without a second thought.
The girl just smiled, turning her back to the castle and making her way to the caverns below. In a moment the whole underworld began to shake, the king of darkness rushing to his balcony to see what on earth was going on. His kingdom was split in half by a giant canyon, a shining metallic castle sitting opposite his own. There on the balcony was the woman he turned away, this woman turning out to be the goddess of death.
The souls with unfinished business became her subjects, the thought of losing any of his prisoners infuriating him to no end. So he began to devise a plan to get them back, though that would prove to be quite difficult in the end. This was the beginning of a new age, the age of shadows.
So with that little story I will now explain the three plots I had in mind.
Essentially the first plot is that our characters have been at war for quite some time, pitting the souls of the damned against each other without end. Eventually they come to the conclusion that they need more souls, both of them going to earth to collect more souls for their war. On earth they'll get to know one another, even though it's over the death of a human, and at some point they fall into a sick and twisted love.
The second plot is that some third force threatens their rule, perhaps the god of war or something, and so they must fight against him to make sure they don't lose the claim to everything they have at that moment.
The third plot branches off of the second plot but delves more into the sick and twisted romance mentioned in the first plot. So this third force would be a former love interest of the goddess of death, bringing her joy while the king of darkness is left to watch in jealousy. Perhaps this jealousy becomes a sick infatuation, an obsession that makes him want her all to himself and to destroy the man who brings her so much joy. Obviously this would be more of a psychological based role play more than a romance role play, though obviously it'd have a few romantic elements here and there.
