Super High School Level Talent: Super High School Level Scientist
Personality: Elend, or just "El", has the backbone of a jellyfish after it's been washed up on the beach for the batter part of a week. Sure, his brain works on an inhuman level when he's found himself a lab coat, but that does him a whole lot of good when he's stammering on and worrying about how stupid and useless he is. Seriously kid, grow a pair! He's constantly undervaluing himself, and he should seriously think about talking to someone about his self esteem problems. Any situation that involves girls makes him extremely uncomfortable, even more than normal. Occasionally he kind of zones out when he's thinking hard about something or working on something. It's much easier to talk to him when he's like this, as he'll talk normally and answer questions without realizing that he's actually carrying on a conversation with another living person, but the second he snaps out of it he goes back to being his normal, shy and nervous self.
Biography (before coming to Orion Academy): Elend doesn't know who his real parents are, only that they put him up for adoption before he was born. His foster family is nice enough though. And hey, he got a cute little sister out of the whole deal, so there isn't much else he can complain about. He felt the need to earn his place in his family, which he tried to do by being the best in school. That didn't work out. El couldn't pass gym if his life depended on it, can't write anything worth reading, and don't even get him started on the whole art fiasco. The only two things he was good at was science and math. He's not the most well-rounded sort of guy. Bullies have always seen El as a free meal, which he really is. It's not like he was going to fight back or anything. During high school his life took a sudden turn for the positive when he met Abby. By some impossible miracle, the two of them hit it off right away. Cassie, El's little sister, had to pay him that fifty bucks from when she'd bet that he'd never get a girlfriend a lot sooner than she'd been hoping. El had actually had to bring Abby home on three separate occasions before Cas finally believed him. He never did stop to wonder about all of his bullies disappearing the same time he met Abby. For the first time in his life, Elend was completely content with his place. Maybe he'll see them again?

I was more using Ouroboros as the alchemists' snake and rolling with the whole turning metals into gold thing. I figured the other goal of alchemy, immortality, would be way too OP, so I scaled (pardon the pun) that back to an invisible armor covering his body. You're right though that Ouroboros usually has to do with immortality or time. I can change him to more of a "Oh you just blew my head off? Well screw Death, I'm gonna go ahead and rearrange your face now." type of character if you want me to.

Cause of Death: It was at his birthday party. Things got out of hand. He drank too much. Well, everyone drank too much but it was his party, so he drank the most. He was dead for fifteen minutes before the first person tried shaking his shoulder. They thought he was joking, but the punch line wasn't until after he was declared dead. He came back. You think waking up the next morning with a hangover is hell? Well, he came back from hell to the worst hangover in humanity's long and painful history of hangovers.

He kept fit by swimming through high school, but he never was the fastest. His parents - his mom, Emily, is an elementary school teacher, and his dad, David, is an professor at Dartmouth - were both so happy when he went off to MIT for college. He somehow managed to keep up his balancing act of school and friends, even throwing in the occasional random party and stupid antics that his friends got him into. His friends might have been stupid anytime they got together, but they were okay. They even threw him a huge birthday party when he turned twenty-one. Happy birthday.

•Age: 17
•Personality: Cool and aloof, Aaron doesn't let anything stress him out. His constant calm attitude makes it easy for him to make friends. He's also unapologetically lazy. His relaxed nature is actually a result of his laziness. He doesn't want to have to bother with a stupid thing like stress, even less than he wants to deal with a stupid thing like work. He's surprisingly smart, he just never applies himself.

•Brief Backstory: He grew up in New York City with his parents. He absolutely loves the city life, though he does wish he could have had a yard growing up. His favorite hobbies are paying his violin and listening to music. His mother was a musician, and it was her who taught him how to play. His mother is also responsible for his unfortunate relocation to Covenant Academy. *Sigh* She meant well, but this meant that he had to actually put effort into something. What a pain.

•Name: Aura
•Type: Ouroboros
•Personality: Friggin' snake needs to learn to keep her tail to herself. If he didn't know better, he'd peg her for a succubus. She's always wrapping around his body underneath his clothes, for warmth really, but that doesn't make it any less uncomfortable. She's quiet and observant of her surroundings (usually watching from out Aaron's sleeve or pant leg), but that goes out the window whenever she sees something gold. Aura loves gold, and it works better than katnip whenever Aaron wants her to get off him for a while. A gold coin thrown out a window usually keeps her away for a good twenty minutes. She's greedy towards other things with value as well, but she goes crazy for gold in particular. Her infatuation with Aaron makes it an extremely unwise move to harm him. Aaron himself has to avoid doing anything to really upset her for fear of falling victim to her cold fury.
•Powers: A thin, near-invisible armor of metal scales covers Aaron's body. The scales are both extremely tough, capable of stopping a bullet fired at point-blank range, and extremely abrasive, shredding through skin faster than an industrial sander. The scales quickly shed after contact and flake off, becoming momentarily visible before disappearing. It has the appearance of golden flower petals falling off of Aaron's body and then twinkling out of existence. By making larger scales, he can make the armor fully visible (it looks like golden snakeskin) and make simple weapons out of the shed scales, which can be controlled for a few seconds as they fall off. The most common scale constructs are a sword, a shield, projectiles, and a hoverboard. The latter is tricky to get used to, since he has to replace the scale he's standing on every few seconds, but it's a lot of fun.
•Fusion: Huge golden scales cover Aaron's body completely. In this state he can freely control the scales and is able to move and shape them into many configurations, like wings, a tail, a huge pair of jaws, a chainsaw, etc. When Aura's personality takes over, they take the shape is that of a huge golden cobra, with Aaron crucified on the inside of its hood.
•Summon: Aura takes the form of a small serpent, made completely of golden scales. Her eyes are glittering green emeralds, the only part of he that isn't solid gold. She can change her length and size at will by adding or absorbing scales, but she only takes full size with Aaron's permission. At full size, she is over forty feet long and easily capable of swallowing a person whole. Her only real power is being a gigantic metal snake that's a real pain to get rid of once released. Oh, and she turns any nearby metal into gold. She doesn't seem to like the gold she's made as much as natural gold though. At this point, Aaron is sick of seeing gold and is perfectly happy giving the stuff away.
I'm glad to see the site starting to hobble back onto its feet. It's too bad that everything was lost, but I'm sure creative minds will have this place filled with new stories and tales soon enough. I look forward to writing with all of you.
