Wow, that's amazing. Maybe I should get you to do the cover art for my wife's book... when she's finished writing it that is :P
"Hold fire for a bit, Diego." Julius admonished his friend, laying a calming hand on the other young man's shoulder. "She deliberately allowed me to detect her when she entered the building; she has no intention of starting any violence here. Am I right, ma'am?" He smiled gentle at the new entrant; his easy and gentle expression as much a mask as her neutral one. The happy reunion of moments ago had turned back to business and while he felt some regret at the lost of the moment, Julius knew how dangerous a predicament they were all in. This was a safe place to stay... if they played their cards right. He had prepared for this ahead of time; one of the few things he had managed when he realised lasting peace would not be possible in the short term. Julius turned to Diego and shrugged as he brought his friend up to speed; Brooklyn had its own set of rules now.

"New rules have been made to prevent we Empowered unnecessarily clashing in this area, Diego. I made contact before to notify them we'd be here, or else they'd try to eject us from this territory immediately. This is their turf so it's only fair to obey by their rules while we're here. There's no sense in starting a fight when we could avoid one all together with a little diplomacy." He turned to the young woman and gestured outside.

"There's an old office room down there, I'm sure you're familiar with it. We can speak there, if you'd rather some privacy. Like Diego said, I'll be passing on the entirety of our conversation to them but it may be simpler without an audience." Julius picked up his laptop and the files he had brought with him from the table where he had placed them, sliding them under one arm as he limped towards the door, using furniture to support his left side where possible. As he passed Diego to walk out of the conference room he spoke more quietly so only he could hear.

"They have the home advantage here and they could be useful allies. Let's play nice for now. Besides... I'm sure you and Mari could do with some private catching up of your own. Let me handle this one." Julius joined Nilin in the doorway and gestured down the hallway.

"Well then, here with all of us or in the office down there for a little privacy; the choice is yours."
I'm currently on the train home, I should be working on a post in about an hour's time.

P.S. To all the non-adults out there: don't grow up - work and your lack of leisure time sucks! Stick at the student age forever - you can still get hammered but you'll never have to work hard!

Hey yall. I got busy with the Xbox, and so I'm just now really getting onto the site again :p

'Got busy' must mean something different over there...

I'm on my way to work (*yawn*) so probably won't be posting in the IC for just over 12 hours.
Seeing as most people are on the other side of the world on here, I have no fear showing my face (also, I just HAVE to show this off - also, don't judge the brightness of the jumper, I was wearing Christmas uniform <.<)

I should point out at this point that this RP is the brainchild of Lillium - we've been doing an extended prologue as it were up until now.

And as Lillium said - the characters will only know about the safe house by vague rumour. Now that Julius and the others who found their way because they knew where he was are there it'll be more difficult to find. There'll be a lot of bombed out apartment buildings in the area and it's not a safe area for anyone.
Dialogue heavy post but I'm on my phone so it's hard to make a decent post!
"No but sometimes it's easier to not know. There'll be plenty of people coming here who none of us knew before; Alexia spread the rumours pretty far and wide for me. Just don't trust him for now, I'll deal with the matter if it needs to be sorted." Julius smiled at Mari, hoping to allay any worries. He knew the way he played things close to his chest could infuriate her but in this case he was the only target.

Julius didn't respond as she sat down since Diego was about to enter the room. He couldn't help but smile as his friend arrived, even if they hadn't left on the best of terms.

"Glad you made it, I'd thought those rumours would reach you with all your work with others like us. It would be much harder to do this without you."

Julius turned to Mari and pointed at the cupboard next to the one she had opened.

"There should be some dried foods in there. I couldn't risk fridges here or else the power use would be noticed. The cupboard next to it should have some camping lanterns and other useful bits. We should last for a while. At least until we have to move on." He grinned knowingly.

"You're right, they might recognise us but there's little chance any of us three would be caught. The new weapons they've been making haven't been transported to here yet so we still have the advantage."
Yeah, creepy eye stuffs. I'm waiting for a train home now, might be able to get a post up if I can get a seat (huzzah for completely unlimited data plans).

Also I'd make the best bezzie since I'm married so I cannae sleep with anyone's partners!

Edit: most transport has been restored but avoids going directly into the centre of dangerous areas like Brooklyn. You can still get pretty close though.
Julius raised an eyebrow at the man's straight-forwarded arrogance. He had approached two of the most powerful and famous Empowered in the US, possibly in the world - there was no way of telling, with little to no fear. Then again, most Empowered hadn't had the same kind of stage to show off that they had had so it was difficult to determine how strong they were, relatively speaking.

"Sound manipulation is it?" He asked. Impressively, the man barely responded but no one could have kept a completely straight face and Julius' memory would never miss a single movement, no matter how small. "You have a good poker face, I'll admit. Oh, and your power isn't hard to work out for me; the sound waves from our voices are travelling in a very direct manner, only affecting the air in a specific way. It's most... unnatural." He smiled in a knowing way; a facade while he searched his memory for the sound of the man's voice.

It would be inaccurate to call Julius' memory 'photographic' because sounds and smells were engraved just as accurately and completely as images in his mind; with his batlike hearing he had learned to tune out a lot of background noise but if he focussed he could search for sounds from the past easily enough. He found a memory of a far off voice which matched the man's but still within his hearing distance, quiet but just about audible.

"Jeramy... not a name I recognise." He muttered, aware the other man could hear whatever he said. "I suppose I'll just have to keep one eye on you at all times for now, in case your employer changes their mind. There'll be a spare bed somewhere on this floor so go ahead and choose one. Oh, and don't pester Mari. She'll crush you, quite literally." He sat down on the chair on front of his laptop again and met the man's eyes.

"So, do I call you Faust or is that some kind of mercenary name?"
