IC is up and ready. I thought I'd throw us right in for the introduction, as it were!
Tuesday 9th February, 2016 CE. Calais

Horses are strangely abundant in the city; young men and women in white uniforms patrolling the streets near the city walls in pairs while more stand atop the thirty foot tall walls. As darkness descended, early as it always did at this time of year, braziers are lit both on top of the wall and out in the flattened ruins beyond the walls; knocked down a year and a half ago so that the Beasts could not hide in the abandoned housing.

More young soldiers in the bright uniforms stand at the only two gates of the port city and hurry a steady stream of people into the city proper, casting glances across the flattened terrain to ensure there were no dark smudges on the horizon; no tell tale black flood announcing that Twilight Beasts were heading their way. Making their way through the press is a small group of mounted soldiers who are clearly exhausted and travel-worn.

Fifteen minutes later the group arrives at the Officers' Mess and the lead staggers in, barely able to walk for her exhaustion. Barely a minute passes before officers, all as young as their men and in the same bright white uniforms, spill out from the building with weapons in the process of being fitted on in their rush.
Rhiannon walked into the Barracks Compound with her favoured weapon, a naginata, strapped into a custom made case on her back while she cradled a crossbow in her arms. Wall duty required every Guardian to wield a ranged weapon and since she had no skill with a normal bow, and regular firearms were ineffective against the Twilight Beasts, she chose the crossbow; not that it was expected for the Beasts to appear during the day. While it was not unusual they rarely attacked a fortified position at any time but under the cover of night.

As she entered the Armoury and returned the borrowed weapon to the Quartermaster the lights in the room flickered and then dimmed. Everyone in the room froze, staring up at the ceiling to see whether the lights returned to power or went out. Shouted orders from the Compound outside drew their attention just as the lights went out properly; candles and gas lamps being lit to provide dubious lighting inside the building.

Rhiannon exchanged a look with the Quartermaster before handing the weapon back to him.

"I'm a rubbish shot anyway, bach." She said with a wink before joining the growing ranks outside. Everyone was armed and ready. With the street lamps going out across the city and cars failing that meant only one thing: Twilight Beasts were nearby. And a lot of them.
Yep. Advanced RPs always move more slowly than others and I'm aware of various illnesses making the rounds right now so I wouldn't be surprised if anyone was ill and so absent for a bit.
I'll have the IC up tomorrow - I was at work all day today and I want to give an extra bit of time for anyone else to put up a CS.
Name: Rhiannon Jones
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Nationality: Welsh

Appearance:

Rhiannon prefers to wear plain jeans, referring to 'styled' or fashionable ones as 'second-hand' clothes. She also wears polo shirts although she is very picky on this aspect; if the polo shirt has clearly been designed to be tight and figure-revealing she will spurn it and opt for a unisex or men's shirt instead. While she is not above wearing more formal clothes, such as a dress, she refuses to wear 'sexist' or 'lecherous' clothes. Her pale skin and bright red hair reverse whatever affect her attempts at hiding her figure has.

Biography: Born in the small town of Machyllneth in rural Wales, Rhiannon was far away from the primary invasions of the Twilight Beasts. Being in such a rural location, with no flight paths from anywhere nearby due to the harsh nature of Wales' weather, she was also isolated from any of the stronghold settlements that became the only safely places to stay in Britain. When she was eighteen the Twilight Beasts finally reached Machyllneth and she was forced to flee with her family. Almost a month later the small ragtag group of refugees from the town, severely diminished in size, arrived at Chester which still had its old walls still intact.

Over that one month Rhiannon proved proficient in use of a spear, taken from the Owain Glyndwr museum in her hometown, and was recruited into the Guardians in exchange for her family receiving housing in the already squeezed conditions of Chester.

Before the invasion of the Twilight Beasts Rhiannon had been famous locally for her singing, going as far as to sing several times over the years at the nearby University. She had attended the same, small school for several years with an appetite for racket sports and traditional athletics; those sports she could participate in by herself without the need to work within a team. While she is not adverse to working in a team when the situation called for it she is independent to the point she can sometimes appear as a lone wolf. This trait proved effective when hunting Twilight Beasts pursuing her small band after their displacement.

Speciality: Close combat - long handled weapons such as spears although she tends to carry a short-staved naginata for its larger blade.
That's great, again just what I was looking for. I'm glad we've got a varied cast (character nationality wise) to add another dimension to this. I was worried we'd get a whole cast of British and Americans as often happens.

Oh, also every character so far: accepted.
Standing up and making his way to the array of weaponry, Gaius looked over them. He was not unskilled with weapons but his greatest strengths lay in his intellect and his powers. A handgun caught his eye, a simple thing but with enough bulk to feel good and weighty in his hand when he removed it from the rack. He faintly remembered from Julius' journal how he had opted to use a handgun rather than his powers if he needed to do something he was ashamed of but saw as necessary; like killing someone without implicating himself.

"I'll take this one. I'm fairly proficient with small arms." He told Lauren, showing her the handgun as he joined her near the targets.

Rhiannon had not moved from her chair, carefully watching the members of the team choose their weapons with interest; they all had entertaining characters and she needed, as well as wanted, to understand them as quickly as possible. Gaius' choice of weapon did not escape her and a memory of his forebear standing alone in a dark room surrounded by dead and bleeding bodies, empty shell cases on the floor around him, sprung to the fore.

Don't forget they're different people.
That's brilliant, accepted!
"I am not a child, sir." A momentary flash of irritation shot through Rhiannon but she quenched it immediately; now was not the time to argue with others and she was still young after all, it was to be expected. Bowing her head to hide her face she apologised just as alarms began to ring throughout the city.

"This.... Armed Pilgrimage is a falsehood. They claim Pilgrims were being attacked by the rulers of Jerusalem but my family easily made it into the city." Rhiannon declared, somewhat more strongly than she had intended to. Violence for aggression's sake had always upset her, a feeling only enhanced by the years of raiding by Normans upon her people's ancestral lands. In any case their conversations were interrupted by the alarms that began to ring throughout the city, announcing the beginning of an attack. It quickly became clear who had the upper hand as Crusaders swarmed onto the walls and gained a key foothold.

Rhiannon began to look around nervously, expecting a swarm of angry and murderous citizens to fall upon the group and slaughter them for their faith at any moment. She knew all too well from the raids on her village that it was the women who suffered worst and she was not unaware of her own beauty; whichever side won she'd be in danger. Refuge suggested by the dragon piqued her interest; it was away from her parents who she worried would give her up in exchange for their own safety and it would keep her out of harm's way.

"How about if he comes with us?" She suggested, the others turning to look at her. "Dragons are favoured by my people, we symbolise them a lot on our flags and family crests so we could pretend I've adopted him for now? Once the initial violence has passed he should be safe, I think..." She trailed off, aware of her young age compared to the others and how foolish her idea probably sounded to them.
That looks great Flamelord, just the kind of CS quality I was looking for in this RP.

That's alright Sweetsound - I've just moved house so I understand the time consumption (that and I've been working all weekend too!)

Edit: Another good CS, brilliant! If I could get a small worded description (even if it's just height, favoured clothes etc) that would be brilliant, Sweetsound.
