Six months sounds great. I don't want to give Ethan too long to think about anything other than "I'm free," because it will lead to some nasty realizations he's not psychologically capable of handling yet.
I...

There was a three month gap between Seattle and Chicago, maybe two weeks between the Casino and Richmond, probably another week between Chicago and Bend Oregon. Assuming that they didn't take long to get to the FBI, they probably knew each other for about four months from the first time they met at the Casino.

I suppose there could be a six month time skip between these points, if you want, but that seems like a long time. At least to me. But we can go with that if you think it is good and necessary.
I got it. You're golden, and thanks for the post. It probably just made my evening.

Although... has a year passed since they met?
Thank you for letting me know! As ever, I'll be a patient partner. Good luck on finals, I'm sure you'll do great, and I'll expect a reply sometime Thursday.
It doesn't need to be linear, there isn't much to tell. Best bet would probably be to give Bree a bit of time to adjust to life after Ethan, and then start working on the case that she is going to eventually need to get Ethan back in on. We never did exactly figure out what that was going to be, but I'm sure you'll come up with something great.
Tanner seemed remarkably unphased by Bree’s reprimand; if it wasn’t for the numbers Ethan would never have known he was embarrassed, the man was stellar at concealing his emotions. Whether he was embarrassed because he was actually ashamed of what he said, or simply because he had gotten caught, that was a far greater mystery. Of course, her reprimand also did nothing to change Tanner’s certainty that there was some sort of foul play going on, and while he would undoubtedly keep it on the low-down now, it was still only a matter of time.

“Very well, Agent Walsh,” he replied, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Until next time, Ethan.” He gave Ethan one last searching glance before walking away. Somehow, the whole exchange between the group had passed unnoticed by everyone else in the area.

Ethan let out a tired sigh as he scooped up the bag of candies from the drawer, only barely noticing that he had grabbed it upside down before the whole bag would have dumped out on the floor. He quickly switched his grip, rubbed his brow, and followed after Bree. This was, indeed, going to be one of those days.

The story he gave to the FBI was identical in every respect to the story he had just given to Agent Royce Tanner. Not once did he fumble or misstep in his story, but nor was he so clean that it seemed as though he had memorized the entire thing. He was able to flip the story on its side, recite it from any angle, and maintain both the face and attitude of a victim. Such a shame that the only one there who could truly appreciate his acting skills was Bree, and he somehow doubted that she was going to nominate him for a Grammy.

When the questioner finished with him they both stood up and shook hands, before he was politely escorted to the door. Only once he was certain that no one of significance was watching did he cup his head in his hands and let out a sigh. It had taken a lot more effort than he had expected to keep the numbers in place to ensure that his acting skills did not slip. Ethan was not a liar at his core. Most of the time he simply implemented enough deception to keep the bouncers and money managers from getting suspicious of him. He grabbed one of the Werther’s from his pocket, unwrapped it, and began sucking on it. How he prayed that all of this was not going to go to waste because of Tanner's meddling.

“I guess that was it.” Ethan finally said, turning to face Bree. “Goodbye, Agent Walsh. I’ll see myself out.”
Both very good lessons to learn. I'll try and get you a reply soon, but it has been a long time since I've felt so completely and utterly lazy. What little motivation I have is going into keeping me on top of my schoolwork, and making sure that people don't have to wait weeks and weeks for a reply.
~As you like,~ Aysus replied, nonplussed by Tahaan’s unexpected reaction. It knew what Tahaan said was true; it had understood that when they were making the matter. They were to do what they did, and that was what they did best, and that was what made what they did work the best. But the frustration and dissatisfaction from earlier still sat within it. They each did what they did, and things did not work when they tried to do what they did not do.

Yet hadn’t this brand new universe for them come from when they did two different things to one thing at once? This new universe couldn’t have come to be if Aysus had made Aysus things, and Tahaan had made Tahaan things. It took both of them to make something better than it had been.

For a moment Aysus hesitated, wondering whether it could express this idea through words better than it had through actions. ~But just because something is an Aysus thing does not mean it should remain an Aysus thing. The whole universe was once an Aysus thing, in a way. And it is not anymore. I don’t know if it is better for it, but it is now far more than just Aysus and Tahaan.~ A ripple passed over its body, before it turned away, leaving Tahaan to play with its Aysus thing without interruption from one who could not understand.
Wow. She must be having a really bad day. That was... quite unexpected. :)
It isn't possible for you to mess up. You are far to wonderful for that.

I don't know whether it is better, but it is different. Aysus and Tahaan really need to find a balance between the fact that they are complete opposites and so miserably fail at understanding each other, with the fact that one cannot exist or really do anything without the other. I get the impression, once Aysus. at the very least, gets that a little better, they'll be able to move onto new things again, and make the first sun.
