Lol. So we would hope.

Yup. If the magic beasts aren't known in this world, it probably means that they are concealed somehow, or look exactly like the normal beasts. So how are they hidden, and what makes them magic? Those are the two things I want to know. Other than that, I'm content to just jump in.
Lol. Sure. Go ahead and start us a thread for the beast story. We'll have to talk a bit about what exactly we mean by "beast" and what makes him different from the rest. But that shouldn't take long. I hope.

I'd like to go over things one at a time, since I doubt I'd be able to address everything you have to say at once, but if you want to start with a massive dump of everything you have to say, simply to get it all out there and for us to reference at a later date, I certainly wouldn't mind.
Sure thing. I can't blame you for that. I still would like you to read it, if just to get your take on all of it. Once you are done, let me know and we can decide what we want to do.
Hold your horses, pardner. :) I'd like you to read the thingy first, because it may be different than what you are thinking.

What I made isn't the... world. Rather, it is a system of government that could be implanted into a galaxy, and keep things from exploding. I developed four alien races, but there are countless other numbers of species, so there is nothing set in stone there.

Just... read it first, and see if you'd want to make any modifications. If you do, tell them to me. If I consider them something that would "invade" the idea, then we'll not talk any more about it, and go right onto the beast story. If not... well... *shrug*

It is pretty long, so take as long as you need.

Hehe. Thanks for the offer, but I have enough of my own ideas to keep me going for a while. I'll keep that in mind if I ever need one, but I also tend to prefer male x female pairings. Not so much for the romantic element, but simply because I like the contrasts in viewpoint.

The sentient ship one could actually be really easy, since I have an intergalactic system of government that I actually developed for my college application. If you had any interest in reading it, we could practically almost jump into that one.

But I'd be up for either the Beast or the Cop one. If we just want a short story, to get back into the feel of each other, I think the beast would be better, because I imagine it going quicker. If we want a longer story, the cop one would be better. We'd just need to figure out how exactly monsters work in this world, and then we could go from there.

Thoughts?

An attack on a vampire elder's estate leaves him alone and without his many children. He'd loved each and every one of them, and like any man who's lost everything, he seeks two things: Revenge, and oblivion. After wiping out the town responsible for the attack, he decides to also hunt down the order that insited the townsfolk into attacking. He becomes very skilled at killing the vampire hunters, and soon it almost becomes routine. One night, during a particularly hard slay, he is wounded badly and takes refuge in an old abandoned abbey. The next morning a young man comes to the abbey and startles the elder, who on instinct drain the young man to near death. Something about the boy makes him unable to take his life fully, and instead he turns him, making the boy his new child. Unable to live on his own now, the boy stays with the elder, trying to understand not only his new existence, but the elder's crusade. The elder tires desperately not to care for the young one, unwilling to open his heart to the pain of loss again, but perhaps his heart of stone can be crumbled by this new life he's brought into this world. (IICB the elder)

A young upstart vampire, only a few weeks old, but with a group of followers already, decides he wants power and decides to try and take over a territory held by one of the oldest vampires known. No one has seen the vampire in ages, but his servants and slaves keep the property neat and tidy, and defend the territory when threatened. Wanting to do things quickly, he takes it upon himself to enter the estate and cut off the head of the snake so to speak. This is no small task, but once he finds the elder and is ready to strike, the elder shows him why he has reigned over such a large territory for so long. Over the following weeks he teaches the how to respect his elders. However, the elder has begun to grow tired of ruling and begins pondering the idea of a successor. Perhaps leave the estate to someone else, after proper training, and travel the world. Perhaps the kid has some potential. (Again ,IICB the elder)

Scientists have worked for hundreds of years to build the perfect soldier. Implants, neural enhancements, even gene manipulation, all to create the perfect killing machine and soldier. War has almost become a pastime for the planets in a fairly expansive solar system. The system is off limits for travelers, but the occasional ship does make it through the barricade to make deliveries or return to their supply depots. One such delivery provides a scientist with exactly what he needs to create what he believes will be the perfect soldier. He injects his creation into a young test subject, transforming it from a normal teenager into a fierce killer. Enhanced strength, eyesight, reflexes, and unprecedented healing abilities. Perfect, save for the built in control device. If the subject doesn't consume blood laced with a particular additive every three months, it will die. Before he can train the boy properly, it escapes on to an out going cargo ship and the lab can not track him. The cargo ship is small, with a crew of one, and the man must decide what to do with his stowaway. (IICB the stowaway)

I'd also like to take this moment to throw out a space adventure story that revolves around a man and a sentient ship. Yup. :)

The beast has always felt, just a little different from his fellows, and after a particularly bad incident with his pack mates he leaves for the nearest human settlement to let them cool their heads. There he comes across a young apprentice who is often mistreated by his fellow humans. Feeling a kind of kinship with the young human the beast worms his way into the young man's good graces and becomes his pet, the boy none the wiser as to the magical nature of the beast. After some time the boy decides to leave the settlement, tired of the treatment, and travels together with the beast, trying to find a place to call home. The best stays by the boy's side, however in their travels they often meet with other magical beasts that to not appreciate the beast's presence. The humans know nothing of the magical animals, and the beast must work hard with each clash he has with his clan that the boy never finds out. (IICB the beast)

There. I read it aaaaaall. And you are getting nothing more from me. Hmph.

:)
Thanks for the compliments. That's mostly what I needed. :)

If you want to avoid dark... Well, we should probably go with either the god x mortal, or I should go back to hunting through our menagerie. Because the character I wanted to create for the accidental hero... is not a happy individual, and I see a lot of potential abuse waiting in the shadows between the two cop partner. Even if I really want to do that one.
A vigilante killer dances around a friendship with a no-nonsense, skilled police detective.

He was once the best assassin the world had ever known, trained since birth to be the perfect killer. But a series of people in his life were able to teach him a little bit about mercy and love, just enough that a young woman with a bright face, kind eyes, and gentle hands could tempt him to stray. He fled with her, and for ten years and two children they lived in peace. But the man who had raised him, trained him, and bet his whole future upon this perfect assassin would never forgive him.

Ten years exactly after he fled from the organization, his old boss, his father and mentor, tracked him down and slaughtered his family.

The policeman had never understood love. He ran away from home when he was young, and life tormented him until he nearly broke. The rules became his salvation. They were clear-cut, and left nothing to the imagination. Even his own broken heart could follow them. He joined the police and slowly worked his way up, a dedicated and ruthless dog, unbribable and with nothing to hold him back.

There was something about that case that caught his attention. Something in the face of the man who had just lost his whole family, a sadness so deep that it could only be called rage, mixed with an iron-hard focus.

The police never caught the criminals responsible for the murder, but the man returned to his home two months after the murder, and he seemed to have obtained some level of peace. The policeman never forgot about that look in his eyes. The man had owned a small, home cooked restaurant right near the police station, and now that he returned he re-opened it. The policeman started consistently going there to eat for lunch, and the two men eventually struck up an easy friendship.

At the same time, people were starting to turn up dead across the city. They were all criminals; rapists, murderers, thieves, gangsters, the ones the police knew about but could never touch. The policeman is convnced that the man is behind it, even though he has no evidence. The vigilante needs the information from the police to select his next kills. Both hide their deep mistrust and broken past behind smiling faces. Both hate the need to associate with the other, yet, even when they don't need to, they find themselves returning to the only other person who shares the broken rage of their own hearts.
Can I give you my detective x bad guy one first? Pleases? It isn't magic, but I wanna share it anyways.
Yup. That keeps him from having the ability to immediately run, and the crowds will make him feel more confident.

No hurry on the reply. Do your school. Just come back soon.
